Good Transportation?

I so would not have gotten in this teeny tiny itty bitty plane. Small spaces freak me out. I'm such a scardy cat. It's awesome that Aksel isn't though. Anyway, Congrats to Aksel on 1st in SC, congrats to Lars on 3rd & congrats to Kjetil on 4th.

  1. I just saw a dude wearing toe shoes! I've heard of them, but I've never seen them! I think they would be great to wear after a long day or when rock climbing. Back to class the teacher just walked in.

  2. @Mel I think those toe shoe things are weird! They look...interesting!

And the plane looks way too tiny to hold our Attacking Vikings! But supposedly those things are incredibly safe! I have a friend whose dad owns a small plane and he flies it ALL the time!

    @Ladies
I visited Aksel's blog today for the first time in months! It was kinda weird going back and seeing so few comments! lol I guess that's what happens when the amazing talkers move on (meaning us of course) :P lol
Hopefully, I can get back to this blog and Aksel's this summer! I have 7 weeks left of school!
And it's Spring, so I automatically feel amazingly happy and excited! I love this time of year! Spring and Summer...they just exude happiness, don't they? :DDDD

  3. Also, I really hope that all is well in Japan.
Thankfully, I was able to get in touch with all my friends there, and they're all safe. So hopefully, we can do all we can to help them out.
And, I hope that things work out in Libya too.

It's crazy...so much is going on in the world lately. It's sad how tragedy has to strike before one stops and thinks. :/ It's sad how it takes a downfall to stop people in their tracks and make them rethink their actions. Plus, I think it's disappointing how we've pretty much manipulated nature, and now she's fighting back. Well, I'm trying to find some positivity.

  4. haha i think i would die when i have to travel with such a little tiny plane! i be already real nervous bc my girls and i would visit oslo this may or june and i be already nervous bc of the 2hours 15 min fly from munich to oslo! yes you can call me crazy but i don´t like to fly!

@nicole glad to you see you again!

and tomorrow is Wednesday, the day you go and visit your doctor. I guess you feel a bit nervous, bc no one likes it ! But this time I'm sure you feel ease after coming back home from the hospital tomorrow,
Stay healthy and enjoy spring flowers, my dear dana ! Hugs !

Normaly I'm not fond of the small plane, bc it's just slow ! I remember the flight from Berlin to Paris in 2002 in the smaller plane and thought it slow. Actually it is not slow, but looking out of the window, I felt it slow, bc the shadow of the plane on the ground moved so slow. ... ;-)))

I often think a ballerina is an athlete !

Hope you enjoy school, my dear Mel ! Hugs !

The nr.5 & nr.6 out of the Fukushima 1 are under control. We're working with the rest, from nr.1 to nr.4 to reach the safety.

Then, yes, we expected it. The government placed the food ban on some products.
I think I'll see the empty shelves of spinach and other greens, and the milk !
    The government says:
" (1). The amount of contamination will not pose a risk to pulic health even though the figure exceeded government standards. "
" (2). It may have a negative effect on the human body if someone continues to eat the product throughout his or her life. But experts agree that there is no health risk if a person eats the products accasionally.

We are just confused to see this statement and don't know if it is safe to eat them today or not, bc no one is familiar with the knowledge about the radiation so much. Anyhow we have just started to attend the nuclear physics class since March 11, and we have not studied much about it ! ... ;-)))
That's why the government decided to place the ban on some foods to be shipped, I suppose.

I think we'll have to experience so many " new " things for some months. .....

    This is the latest update.

Let's enjoy our lovely spring together in every own places !
    Kisses & Hugs !

  10. @ekaterina my ankle is ok so far, it hurts but i can handle it!

about the food, i heared that some food are contaminated and i think it is better not to eat and that is also what our government said here! and also that your drinkwater is contaminate in some of and that you should are not drink it (also milk)

here is a german speaking link you should read it!

after the tschernobyl happening, we wasn´t able to eat mushrooms bc they are contaminate and it is still so, when we see mushrooms in the supermarket from countrys east of us, we don´t buy it, bc there is still a danger bc of the contamination of tschernobyl!

How are you and your family, my dear Ekaterina? I saw on tv, at work, that you had another two earthquakes, 6,6 and 6,4 on Richter scale! Hope you all are safe and sound! When I heard about the earthquake, the first thing that came in my mind was you!
Please, let us know how are you, your dad and your little sister!

Send you my love and my good thoughts! Take care!

Thanks for the link ! It's an interesting link and also useful link for me !

happy to know about your right ankle that you can handle it, corinna. however I feel sorry you have a pain. ... hope it'll be OK soon !

    @dana.
thanks, dana. My baby sis, my dad, and me are all OK.
Normaly, I'm used to it. But I've never had so many shakes in 12 days like this, so I'm fed up with these.
6.6 and 6.4 is not small, but not so big. and actual spots for these 12 days are not in Tokyo, just around 2-300km away from us. But I'm fed up with these. people say we'll have these for next 2 or 3 months, bc it is after 9.0 12 days ago.
Every time we have a shake, I worry about the Fukushima 1. bc the Fukushima 1 is always nearer to the actual spot than Tokyo.
    We just have another one.
Do you feel fine today, dana ?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Ekaterina
I'm glad that you and your family are fine.
I heard you had another earthquake over 6.0.
I know you are used to earthquakes like these and that they are not very big, but the situation is different now bc of that 9.o one that brought you tsunami and the disaster at the Fukushima.
We get good but also bad news about Fukushima. I say this because some of the reactors are cooled but other still have problems and they said today that bc of Fukushima no. 1, the level of the radiation in that area is 126.7 times higher that normal!!! It seems huge for me, but they say that still posed no immediate danger.
I imagine you're fed up of these, but be patient and strong, my dear Ekaterina! We all hope that everything will be fine!

The situation with the food lack is the same? How you can deal with it?
What do you know about your pupils? I guess you miss them and your work! When you're busy the time flies faster and your mind is occupied with something else than all this stuff.

I've been fine these days, thank you for your concern. But I'll go to the doctor tomorrow.

How's the weather in Tokyo? Here it seems the spring is coming, it's not very warm, but sunny and nice.

Wish you a pleasant evening, my dear Ekaterina! Keep the faith! Love you!

  14. @corinna.@dana. and @all ladies !

I'm sorry for spinach and milk, bc they did nothing wrong. I think they want to be eaten and drunk, and the farmers and the dairy farmers want it, too. But the contamination came. poor spinach & milk.

The government say they are working on monitoring and sampling.
The radioactive substances drifting around are from the used fuel pools, they say. And after the super pumpers operation started, the amount of the radioactive substances monitored are going down and down. It is apparent that super pumpers succeeded in cooling them down. The operation has been continuing. The radioactive substances keep on living once it goes out in the air, so radioactive substances monitored now is to be said they went out before the super pumper made a successful operation.
According to the government report, the radioactive substances drifting around now are :
    1). I-131 ( Iodine 131 ) half of life 8 days,
    2). Cs-137 ( Cesium 137 ) half of life 30 years
And the amount drifting is still very very little, the government says.

As for drinking water, we normaly drink the mineral water bottled. I think I had better not eat spinach and not drink milk for a while until the government confirm they are safe.
I now wonder which food we'll be notified not to eat next.

The Fukushima 1 is " well and fine " now. It is stable today. We really want it to be stable. Being stable here means no more leak & flow of the radioactive substances. I'm not sure the leak is stopped now and the only " old " ones are drifting now, though.
The super pumpers including German-made originaly concrete pumper ( we call it " Giraffe ". it's its nickname ! )working hard now to cool them down, and the electric repair and recovery is in progress.

Hope you have a nice day !

    Kisses & Hugs !

    ReplyDelete
  15. @dana.
You're right. The higher level of I-131 was monitored in some area around Fukushima 1 and the government said it was not dangerous.
I think it is very difficult to understand things about the nuclear matters. For example, our government say, " If you eat * that * spinach every day for one year, the total amount of the radiation you'll get is almost the same amount when you get by the flight from Tokyo to NY and return. " I know the people like pilot and flight attendant often talk about and complain about the radiation they get during the fligh, but I think the radiation they get during the flight is naturally drifting substances in space, but I-131 and Cs-137 are produced from the nuclear reaction, I think.

We lack of milk and yogurt, but it started before the government reported about the contaminated milk. It is because many factories of the package for the milk, yogurt and other goods are also destroyed by the earthquake. I don't find so much inconvenience of lack of goods now, bc I can buy anything except some goods, but I was in a bit panic for a few days just after the earthquake to see many empty shelves in the store. It was because of the confusion in the distribution due to many damaged roads, I think.
But if the radiation trouble lasts for weeks, maybe lots of foods will be bann from shipping. Every new situation comes every day.

We had another one. but it was 5.9 but I don't like it.

My friends and pupils are all OK. Thanks dana.

The weather in Tokyo is not fine. It rained yesterday. The government says the level of the radioactives become high when it rains. I have checked the weather forecast for a week in Tokyo and I'm happy to see no rain for a week. But the temperature will stay low, though sun smiles every day. Sun with teeth, I suppose.

Hope you'll feel much much better tomorrow after you'll meet your doctor, my dear dana !
taking a bath and ready to sleep. Good night.
    Kisses & Hugs !

  16. @Ekaterina
I saw that news about the contaminated spinach and milk so many times that you can think that the Japanese eat just spinach and milk! LOL
Serious now, I know it's not easy to go to the supermarket and find empty shelves or to don't know what may be contaminated and what not! People don't know what to think and they are scared. We always are scared by the things we can't see, touch or feel, like radiations are!

Hope the weather will be fine in the next period and it will not rain very soon! And maybe the wind will blow in the right direction!

I'm glad that your pupils and friends are fine too! Wish you to come back to your work in a short time, I'm sure this will make you feel better!

Have a good and restful night, my dear Ekaterina, with no more shakes! Kisses and hugs!

  17. @Ekaterina I saw on the news that one of the reactors was smoking. I read in the paper that they found a teen & his grandmother that had been trapped for 9 days. I also read about some of the crops being contaminated. I'm glad that you & your family are still ok.

That's right, dana ! It's so funny. It looks our body is made from spinach and milk. ... :-)))

and you're right, it's uncertain fear which makes us anxious.

This morning I found the government added several other vagetables to the banned list to be shipped. I carefully watched it,
    then !!!
    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !
Cabbage ! I found it in the list!
I planned to buy the couple of cabbage this weekend for the next sarmale. mmmmm !
I also planned to start my spring kitchen with Nicolettchen's private recipe for ratatouille.
I keep calm and carry on ... ;-)))

I'll be back here later. very busy with catching up with the press conferences live in the TV.

Please make yourself relax before-during-after your visit to the doctor today, my dear dana !
    Hugs !

    P.S. It's not raining here now !

  19. @Mel.
The two survivors were in the kitchen when the tsunami assaulted the area, then the house was brought to other place with lots of things around it. When tsunamis left, they found themselves confined in the small space under piles of debris. The small space is possibly the former kitchen and the refrigerator accompanied them to the place. So they had something to eat & drink for 9 days.
The two survivors are 16 years old boy and his 80 years old grandma. He said he has noticed people's voices but could not get out of the space and were not be awared of by the rescue. But 9 days after being there, he found the way to get out and the police found them. His body temperature was 28C when he was rescued. It has been still very cold in the disastrous areas.

    * The lesson *
..... stay in the kitchen or rush into the kitchen when something happened. ..... I thought.

As for the smoke, there were two smokes in the Fukushima 1 yesterday. The one was the steam and the other was vapor. And the radioactive levels didn't surge at the site.
The March 11 Tsunami knocked out power at the plant, causing cooling system failures, but the all reactors linked to outside power yesterday. I think we advance to the next stage to the complete safety which is still far, however. But it's true the situation in the Fukushima 1 is better and better, which means safer and safer.
The super pumpers operation is continuing.

Several crops are contaminated, though the level of the radioactive substances are still little and good enough to be eaten. But Japanese law banned them to be shipped. I understand it is right.

It's been also cold here in Tokyo these days.
!!! The press conference ! It always jumps suddenly in the TV. It is by the Tokyo Government about our water. ( sigh ) water in some area, ? what ? still not in Shibuya-ku, other area up north of Tokyo. The contamination, although the level is low enough.
See you, I have to watch it.
    Hugs !

    What say the latest News?

I am so happy for you Ekaterina, that you are starting to make some really funny jokes. That is a perfect sign! Love it!
I thought nearly the same because of looking for shelter in the kitchen. Ha Ha
What about the wine cellar, you only have to look for a a lot of mineral water, wine of course, a big smoked bacon, an entire cheese may be Emmentaler or if you prefer the Appenzeller, maybe some Knäckebrot, and do not forget the Victor Inox Swiss Army knife!

    http://www.victorinox.com/category/1/100

Forgive me Ekaterina, the situation is so serious, but I deeply want to cheer you up!
Regarding my private Ratatouille, I am lucky that you do not need any speenach to prepare it!!

If you can, I would also totally switch to imported vegetable for the moment, and no milk from the aera, better imported yogurth if you can.

Thanks for the Christophe's link, Nicolettchen ! It's light & fun.

yes, I think both Emmentaler and Appenzeller. and plenty of fruits !I cannot live without fruits. and Victor Inox Swiss Army Knife !

More vegetables will be added to the list and I expect the imported ones. happy, bc it's spring !

Now comes water. I normaly drink Volvic, evian, and Contrex.
The government says the water in Tokyo is slightly contaminated with I-131. Slightly here means a baby under 12-months are not recommended to drink a water from the faucet. I hope all babies under 12-months sitting in front of TV listening to the voice of the official, and understanding it perfectly, bc mom's busy...

In the Fukushima 1, the electric repair is in progress. Eventually the reactors will be covered solid by the concrete. But the all power there was lost by Tsunami and we have only guessed what was going on there until now actually. The super pumpers operation was judged the best to do for the time being, and it goes well, but we need the power to check the present condition there correctly, so that we can decide which way is the best to let them sleep at last. And all reactor finally linked to the outside power yesterday, and now we are working to make it run to make it cool. But the electric repair is not easy, bc the actual spot is wet. So we have to see the smokes from time to time, and the smoke is from the trouble of the electric repair.
That's the latest update for today, I suppose.
The seawater is also contaminated, however slightly. Slightly contaminated, but loudly reported. The fishes may seek an evacation to the aquarium, I bet. ...

dana, what did your doctor advise you to do ?

Have a pleasant spring day !
    Kisses & Hugs !

  27. I'm writing another paper for class & I finally figured out what I wanted to do. I'm going to write about the body language of politicians. I just hope that the other girls in the group are prepared today or at least show up. I hate group projects I always end up doing the work because they don't know what they are doing. *sigh* I so want a new group! I decided on this because I watched a show on The History Channel called Secrets of Body Language. I love reading peoples body language. It reveals a lot about them. You can lie all you want to with your words, but your gestures give you away. I think that's why I like the show Lie to Me. Anyway, wish me luck with this group & pray I get at least a B.

@Ekaterina On the news this morning they said they detected a spike of radiation from Fukushima in North America first on the west coast & now it has moved to the east coast. I can't believe that it has moved that far. That's sad about the cabbages. :-( I'm sure that they will get some "clean" food in. It will probably cost more than usual, but it's better than eating food contaminated with radiation.

Well I'm off to go wait on Kelli, then lunch & then off to class.

Hope all the babies under 12 months understood your government's warning and they don't drink water from the faucet! :))) I love you sense of humor!!
I saw on the news that the fish may be contaminated too, so you don't have to eat spinach, cabbage, milk and now fish! I think it would be indicated for you all to live just with bottled water! Haha!

About the doctor now: she wasn't there, she is at a medical conference, I talked just to her assistant who checked my blood pressure (11/7) and she gave me recommendation for blood tests and the endocrinologist! Nothing more!

@ekaterina any news? i read today, that it is possible that around tokyo will be a ohter big earthquake soon! and i be a bit scared about sad!
i heared also in german tv about the vegetables and the water, here say said the water have 210 becquerel and for babys and little kids it should not be over 100 becquerel and for adults not over 300 becquerel!
    any news about that?

    @all have a great evening

  33. @corinna.
yes, there will be still great possibilities of big earhquake around Tokyo soon, they say. I would't think it will be the Richter Scale 9.0,though, we can withstand it if it is under the RS 6.0's, however it depends on the location. I don't want it to be happened at the bottom of the sea like March 11, bc the sequent Tsunami is just devastating.

And, yes, we're well informed of the contaminated water from faucet. I've shared Volvic with my baby sis since the first news about it was reported in the TV yesterday. My baby sis is the same size of our little one under age 1.

    Thanks, corinna !

I'm going to the stores to buy some foods. The same stores in the department store which has more and better foods than supermarket. It's near from here, only one stop by train. So in case the big earthquake comes and the train is forced to stop its service, I can walk back home soon.

    * Good News - Water *
The level of becquerel of the Iodine-131 per liter of water in Tokyo is lower today. It's 67 becquerels. But the higher level of becquerel is detected in many area around Tokyo, however it varies daily, maybe.

    * Good News - Flight *
LH and other airlines will be back !
LH has suspended its regular flight to Tokyo ( Narita International Airport ) with other airlines for some days since Fukushima 1 had a trouble. I was so shocked at it then, bc Frankfurt-Narita is the most importand international line for LH and they made its first A380 fly in this line last year and its second A380 was also in this line.

    * Good news - Vegetable *
I went out shopping and checking foods in the store called " Food Show ". The distribution is OK. I saw spinach from the area some 1,000 km south-west of Tokyo. No empty shelves in Food Show. But I think I had better not buy the crops in the area around the Fukushima 1, even if the government does not ban it, bc the government often goes slow. So I did not buy cabbage today, bc it came from the area near from Fukushima 1. I think we'll have more vegetables from the far area soon. as for milk from the safe zone, one carton for one person. That's OK for me.

    * Bad News - Radiation Exposure *
3 persons working in the unit reparing the electric system were exposed to radiation this morning. The report came to us early evening. All 3 engineers were take to the hospital of the special treatment for the radiation exposure. The report says they are not in critical condition.
I think it's so hard to do electric work in the area, but must be done. .....

That's the update for today, I think.

Hope you have a nice spring time !
    Kisses & Hugs

I'm so happy to hear so many good news! So if you have 3 good news and one bad, we can say there are 75% GOOD news!!!

They told us on tv about these three engineers that were exposed to radiation! All I can say about people like them is that they are heroes! Bc they know the danger, but they face it to save the others lives!

Wish you a beautiful spring time too!
    Kisses and hugs!
