Full Moon

I took these tonight of the full moon. Tonight's moon is called a Perigee Moon & it's brighter than a normal full moon. Which can cause it to look bigger than it is. It is 50,000km closer to the earth tonight. Exciting! The last time this happened was in March 1993. I just wish I had a better camera to capture it.

Thanks so much for the pics!! Lucky you! We couldn't see the full moon bc of the clouds!

Poor Knut, I didn't know he died!! As I know he was 1 year old and suffered so much when his first keeper, the man who raised him after his mom rejected him, died bc of a heart attack! I know he didn't want to eat at that time and he was very sad!
Knut was so cute as a cub! I'm so sorry for him!:((

    Thanks for your support !

Now I have to inform you of the " not good news " on Fukushima 1.
The the pressure in the container vessel of nr.3 is reported to be going high. So TEPCO may open the valve to let air out to make the pressure down. It means more radioactive materials may flow. TEPCO just says they'll do it little by little checking the wind direction. The contaminated air is not going to be much and not fatal, they says. The evacuation area remains within a radius of 30km, they says.

I do hope TEPCO understands what is going on inside the container vessel.

Hope you enjoy a lovely Sunday !
    Kisses & Hugs !

  7. @mel it is funny that you in the us know earlier then we here in germany that knut is death! wow, i just read it here on the blog and then i checked it out! that is so terrible, he was just a sweet little icebear and i remember the news about his birth and everything which was following then!

@ekaterina how are you today? i read that the situation is better now, bc of cooling down the reactors. but that they found little nuclear powder in tokyo too and that the ppl are shocked bc today it should be rain and that they think this rain will be also nuclear (contaminierter regen)

@mel great pics, i be just a bit confused about the two bright things on it! it looks like two moons!

  8. @corinna.
Thanks, corinna. I'm well and fine.

yes, you're right. The situation becomes better and better, however we worry about the nr.3, bc the pressure inside the reactor vessel is going high. But the latest report says it keeps stability now, so TEPCO ( Tokyo Electric Power Co. )does not think they let the air inside of the vessel flow outside.
We know the radiation has flowed outside already since March 11, that's why the government decided the evacation area which is within a radius of 30km from Fukushima 1.

We understand the radiation have reached Tokyo, however the amount is so so little now. The radiation flowing now comes mostly from the nr.3 & nr.4, but after cooling it,and the level of the radiation leaked from them and flow is going down. The cause of the leak of radiation from Nr.3 & nr.4 is because of the heat in the pool of the used fuel rods, but
thanks to the " super pumper " operation, the level of radiation becomes lower and lower. And I do hope it continues down to zero.

In Tokyo, nobody starts talking about the iodine tablet yet.

and it does not rain in Tokyo, but according to weather forecast, it will rain tomorrow around Fukushima 1. and also in Tokyo.
I have to go out tomorrow. Tommorw is our national holiday and we have a custom to visit the grave of the family on the Vernal Equinox Day.

The government ordered the Super Pumper operation again today, and I really hope to hear the good news or at least better news from Fukushima 1.

    * The latest Update *
The Hyper-Rescue team of Tokyo Fire Department has just started the super pumper operation 20 minutes ago and it will continue for 6 hours. The operation yesterday lasted toataly 13.5 hours from last night until early this morning. I hope the level of radiation will be down tomorrow.
But we cannot depend on the operation forever, we must recover power which originally cool them down. So the restoration of power is in progress.

btw, how do you enjoy your new white vw ? corinna ?

and hope you have a pleasant Sunday in beautiful bavaria, my dear corinna !

    Kisses & Hugs !

  9. @Corinna The bottom light is the street light in front of my house. That's odd that I knew about it before you.

@Ekaterina I heard that they are considering putting dirt, sand & concrete in I think it was nr 3. That is if pouring tons & tons of water in it doesn't cool it down enough. Hopefully the radiation isn't too much tomorrow. I'm glad that the radiation that drifted down to Tokyo isn't at a dangerous level.

@Dana :-( I was looking at some pictures of Knut before & after his first keeper died. He looked very happy in the before pics & very sad in the after pics. I think he may have died of a broken heart.

    I'm off to work.

  10. @ekaterina i can´t enjoy my little white vw as much as i can, bc i have some problems with my outside ligaments in my right ankle, they are broken! damn! but it is ok! tomorrow i have to drive no matter what is, bc i have to go to work!
btw. what are you working? can you go to work? or have you holidays?
so tomorrow is national day! that is great, but also sad, bc you can´t celebrate it to much bc of the earthquake/tsunami/fukushima 1 happening!

@mel now when you said it i can see the lamppost!

@all have a great sunday afternoon outside in the beautiful weather, we have a real beatuiful weahter here in bavaria! so i hope everyone else will also have such a great weather

  11. @corinna.
    !!!!! my dear corinna !
What happened to the ligaments of your right ankle !? I hope it does not tear ! But even too much expand & contract is serious enough, so I worry about it so much, my dear corinna.
I know you can drive a car with your left foot, but you walk with a stick now ? .....
    Please take care.

I'm happy to know you have a pretty lovely spring in beautiful Bavaira, but it's much better for you if the ligament trouble of your right ankle is cleared.

It's the National Holiday in Japan, and it rains now. My dad and I decided not to go out today and we'll visit my mom's grave the other day.
Lots of people have holidays or are forced to have holidays, because of the aftermath influence of the disaster.
The biggest hit in Tokyo is the shortage of the electric power. So the railway service is reduced and also we're all asked to save the power as possible as we can to avoid the total blackout in Tokyo.
I'm a private piano teacher at home and it means students visit me to take lessons. So I now suspend the lessons, bc the railway service here is not always convenient and cars are also asked to stay in the garrage because of the shortage of the gasoline.
    na ja.

What does your doc talk about your ankle ?
    I hope it'll be OK soon !
    Hugs !

  12. @all ladies.
Until just before the earthquake, Japanese media reported so often about the live situation in Libya. and now it comes back.
    Fighting the sandals.
Our media says the people with K and work for K is mercenary from all poor Arab & African countries. They are paid US$2,000 a day.
I know K is rich, and a mercenary is richer than any of us here. ..... ;-)))
I hope K steps down and and peace comes back to Lybia. We watch the operation by the US, GB, and France.

I think you notice that I talk much about the Fukushima 1. Actually more than 20,000 lives are lost, more than 100,000 houses are lost, 1,600 roads & bridges are destroyed, 800,000 houses are without water supply. ... and so on.
It's been 10 days since March 11, but the situation is like that, though it's better day by day.

The reason I focus on the Fukushima 1 is, as you see, it's the crucial matter.

The disaster such as an earthquake, Tsunami, flood, fire, volcanic eruption can make the date of the start for the restration. It is practically 1 second after the disaster, though it depends upon the location and condition. But the case like the Fukushima 1 is totally different from those natural disaster. We have to start fighting agaist it 1second after that, and it takes days or weeks or months to confirm the worst crisis is over.

If we suffer from a single disaster, it's almost OK in Japan, bc we have been used to this, but this time we suffer from " a triplet " disaster. The Earthquake, Tsunami, and the Nuclear Reactor. We've never experienced such a triplet disaster before in our history. And Tokyo was not directly hit by these disaster, but we face with several aftermath influence which challeange against our economy. If the economy in Tokyo becomes weaker and weaker, the restoration in the huge disastrous areas goes slow.

So, while watching and thinking of the people in the disastrous areas for these 10 days, I strongly focus on the Fukushima 1. Because the confirmation of safety, which says there is no possibility of the worst situation, is needed. And we're just trying hard to get the confirmation of safety by super pumpers, the work for the electric matters, bc there is no power in the Fukushima 1 since Mrch 11, and so on...
Eventually we put dirt, sand and concrete in the N Reactor nr.3, as Mel mentions, but we have not reached the point yet. We're still on the way.

Maybe it's the latest update for today.
However the situation in Fukushima 1 is going better and better day by day, but we have to work with the electricity and we have to discharge at the same spot, and it's impossible to do these 2 thing at the same time in the same place. So super pumper operation during a night and the electric work during a day.

The day when we confirm there is no posibility of the worst situation, will be the day for us to restore the nation. But we cannot wait for it, so we've started things we think we can do now to restore the nation.

I really thank you all very much for thinking of us.

Hope you have a nice new week, and enjoy spring ! In Tokyo it's raining and cold.
    Kisses & Hugs !

Thank you very much for your update, Ekaterina!
It is always interesting to read your point of view!

Yes, the triple disaster that hits Japan is incredible! I think such a case is unique!

When I read the news, sometimes I stop breathing! At the moment, I am deeply concerned what all these brave men, working arround the nulear power station, are risking because of the radiation!!
Not to forget, all these poor people in the camps suffering in the cold, no water, not enough food, no house, only some blankets!!

Regarding economy, I am rather slightly optimistic, also for Japan, if the Fukushima problem gets totally under control, it could lead to a explosion on the world wide stock markets! It is said, but deasaster bring always a lot of work and impulse, so economy hopefully will work later on a very high level again.
I trust very much in the strenght and power of all the Japanese people!

In my opinion, the problematic in L is rather big, because Mr. G is an experienced old fox with a lot of dangerous thoughts.
It needs a lot of careful handling and cleverness to make progress against this guy! Of course, a lot of innocent people will be killed, like Dana mentionned! That is the terrible thing of any war, as we discussed before with WW2.

Hope for the best with all these enormous problems. But problem Fukushima is still the number one for the whole world!

Have a pleasant National day, Ekaterina. Take good care of your dad and the baby sister. Your mom will understand!

Weather in Zurich is rather cold, around 8 degrees, with a lot of sunshine with mega teeth!

    @All
    Have a happy day!
    Love and Hugs!

Found this (it is a translation from German into English):

The U.S. are in the words of President Barack Obama firmly on the side of the Japanese people to support them in the "greatest hour of need". People in Japan are among our closest friends. We will pray with them, we will stand by them and we will build with them until this crisis is over", Obama said.

You see, you are not alone, Ekaterina! All the Japanese people are not alone!

Wish you a nice evening and a good sleep during the night! All the best, Ekaterina!

Talking about winter: here is snowing again! But the sun has smaller teeth than the sun in Zurich!:))) It's not that cold!

Enjoy this special day, my dear Ekaterina!

    Thanks, Nicoletthcen !
We're so much honored and greatly appreciate that people from all over the world support us by thinking of us, praying for us, sending goods to us, and donating to us. And we lost our words to know that people in the slums of Thailand donated US$10,000 to us. .....

Yes. The Fukushima 1 is the top priority and it stays the top of the top in the list until it is confirmed under control. The men, from SDF ( Self Defense Forces ), from the Tokyo Fire Department, from the Police, from the Companies which have engineers, have been working in the site for the Fukushima 1 since March 11. They are working at the risk of being exposed to radiation. Of course they're safely equipped against radiation, but it's impossible to shut it down completely. The limit of the minutes for them to work in such a site depends on the level of the radiation drifting around the area, and it is strictly regulated in Japanese law. None of them has suffered from radiation yet so far.
We thank the US and EU for their offer of the equipments.
They are just brave and determined. Very impressive. .....

We really thank you all for letting us notice that we're not alone and connected with.

The situation in the Fukushima 1 is changing every minutes. We're well informed by the press conferences many times a day. The live press conferences are by the Government, TEPCO ( Tokyo Electric Power Co. ), SDF, the Tokyo Fire Department, and the Police. The government has the 2 different press conferences, the one by the Chief Cabinet Minister ( The sporksman from the government ) and the other is by the Nuclear Security Agency.

btw, I hope the situation in L will be settled. The news says the US hit the residence of Mr.K. The operation is going on, I suppose.

Have a nice day, and keep you warm, my dear Nicoletta !
    kisses & Hugs !

I was upset at the news this morning before I left to go to school. They didn't mention anything about Japan! All they talked about was local news, which they repeated & Libya.

Today is the first official day of spring & it's raining. :-(

I think the guys from Gotthard have a difficult mission, they will hardly find another great voice alike Steve's! I'm curious too if they'll succeed!

Thanks for the link! Jon has very beautiful, funny and interesting videos on his blog! He's a great person too! I like the way he treats and he speaks about his girlfriend! They are a very nice couple!:)

    @Mel
Here's almost the same, they talk more about Libya, but don't forget about Japan either!
