So I decided to move the party here...I know some of you don't do forums so I figured another blog would work. I may borrow without the intent to return Aksels pics that he puts on his blog so that we can talk about it & then go totally off topic. ie cars, party, spandex... Whatever we want to talk about. I have to admit that I wrote too much (it got a little out of hand, really) but at the same time, the comments that were posted made me feel bad...and not because there were people writing those things (they have a right to post their opinions) but just because I feel extremely guilty. How strange to "punish" Aksel by leaving his blog, just because some people thought you were using the blog incorrectly. What kind of fans do that? Not real fans I assume, but people who just used Aksel to get some people to talk to on the net.

My sweet god... You have been reading JM'S update on Twitter? Do you know Aksel or JM in person since you take the conclusion that they have been on vacation together? It never crossed your mind that he could have been on vacation with a mate or two or his brother or including his brother? Or maybe he has another girl on his lap than JM? He did date JM in 2007 - 3 years ago and still people are hangin' on to that... I find it a little bit strange that the world tabloids never have any story's or pictures on them if the reality is that they are involved in that way cause they can't hide for years. I've been working in the media for years and i know a little bit how they work;)At least at two accations our friend has gone out in the media and said there is nothing else between them other than friendship. It's actually pretty nice, so instead of causing trouble, why don't you just join us in discussions? That would be the mature thing to do.

Having watched your blog newly estabished blog over the last few days, thought it time to join in. Looking at photos that some of you show, you are obviously not teeny boppers as some one rudely mentioned on 'the other blog'(No offence meant but I am of the Aamodt generation and probably older than all of you) However, I like good sport and sportsmanship when I see it, and like seeing it rewarded with results and hence watch Aksel's progress with interest.

Away from skiing what about what people like about aksel, what they dislike/could do better and perhaps what other sportsmen they like/compare him too? Rodger Federer takes some beating and aksel has some way to go yet!

My admiration with Aksel is the way he came back after his Beaver Creek crash. My god, what a man! I love to see him ski and i admire his way of handelig any situation. Even if i\he wins or loose he has his smile put on his face. You can't do anything but admire him ;)
Oh wow...all old women here...me too. Even older than Kjus and Aamodt (year of manufacture 1967 - but at the end). And I always thought I would be by far the oldest *lol*. As I mentioned on Aksel's blog: he inherited me from Kjus and Aamodt as a fan. Those 2 guys were so much fun to watch!

ReplyDelete@Marie: In my case I think it was Lillehammer 94. All that warmhearted and friendly people they showed on tv. So I had a closer look at the norwegian athlets. And they didn't disappoint me for all the reasons you've mentioned.

ReplyDeleteWe are sophisticated, independent, intelligent, educated, sports minded females, with well established busy lives/careers to lead. We now know what the most important things in life are and admire Aksel for being a good sportsman and his sportsmanship.
He should not be frightened but complimented!! Mind you I bet he did not realise he was in competition with Klus and Aarmodt off the hills.
I've been sick all day & I came here to have a laugh & I get accused of punishing Aksel. I would never punish or abandon him. He's one of my fav Vikings the others are my Viking ancestors Sweyn Asleifsson & King Olaf the Black & of course the rest of The Attacking Vikings.

This is one of the reasons why Aksel's blog (and this one) is so great; you get to see people of different countries get together and speak different langauges! And English is a pretty tough language...I don't get it sometimes and it's my native language (well, one of my two)! Everyone makes mistakes in their own language, and others! ReplyDeleteI know Morten is a very philosophig guy, (I saw some interviews),that he's father of five (2 boys, 3 girls- the last one turned one on 16th of september, two days after he turned 50!)I also know he has a great passion- orchids. SPOILER ALERT!
..okay, so you want to glue your hand to Aksel's. I recommend a superglue of some sort...uhu works pretty well! Alright, so we head over to Mr. Svindal's house...pretend we've been hired to clean up his dirty laundry. You can go looking around for the underwear you want. When Aksel comes in to clean up, we'll tell him that it's taken care of, but that we're great big fans so it would be great if we could shake hands. I'll talk to him about this...in the meantime, you'll be putting some glue on your hands. Then, you can come up, and shake his hand. You'll have to stand around for a while, so the glue dries so I'll make you two stand in the politician stance (you know, when politicians have to shake hands and hold that position because people are taking pictures and they're smiling, but you can tell it's really awkward for them because they're holding some guy's hand). You'll have to put a thin layer of glue on your hand...not too much gunk! You don't want Aksel wondering, "Why in the world is there gunk on this woman's hand?" So you'll be in that politician stance until the glue dries. Then, I'll take a picture when he realizes that you're stuck together. Then, you can talk to him all you want...and hold his hand for as long as you want. And I'll be on the plane ride home, as the cops show up to take you away for being a stalker and a creeper!!! lol ;D sound good??? ;P

ReplyDeleteI think they would be pleased that one of their 'ambassadors of elegance' appeals to the more mature lady. I think they have produced some of his best photos. After all we are more likely buy nice jewellery and expensive watches rather than teeny boppers.
The teeny boppers/teenagers are more likley to buy the tawdry underwear with the tacky logo sold on another skier's website.

ReplyDeleteI have to share this last night we had a really bad thunderstorm. I'm terrified of lightening...it makes me hurt from the back of my neck all the way down. I was just about to drift off to dreamland when I heard a huge boom & my room lit up. I jumped straight up in bed. I have never done that before. I thought that only happened in the movies. I'm such a chicken...
Don't feel bad, Mel, I do the same thing! I HATE storms. I lived in the South until 8 years ago, and OMG, the storms there can be so freaking violent! I can recall numerous times, even as an adult lol, hiding from the lightening because I was so scared. Add tornado threats to the storm and I'm just a mess.

I have just looked at the 'official blog', and as much as I like talking about sking, and will be interested to know aksels final decision on skis and why, 10 blogs on the pros and cons of atomic/head is a little bit too much for me. Providing he picks the skis and the support that get him the results to get back on top, thats all that matters.

Ok. Been taking a look at the urban dictionary and made a couple observations:

Urban dictionary is...interesting, to say the least! Sometimes, especially in the case of Aksel's name, I don't see the connection! I liked some of the definitions for my name, but the writers on that site get a little...well, they get *hot* (to quote Kristen~Pa)! haha ;D

@Anne-May and Brenda The whole Atomic vs. Head conversation is disappointing me a little. There's much talk about money being an underlying factor; and though it may be, in many cases, I hope it isn't in Aksel's case. As mentioned, this is Aksel's decision (and I will support him in his choice) but hopefully, it's not completely determined by money. I don't think he's that kind of a person/athlete.
Count me out of the alcohol, ladies! I'll take a bottle of water...no make it a pina colada (non-alcoholic)! ...and this way I won't be one of those bodies passed out on the ground! ;D
