Sorry for saying so directly I don't like the singer of Pacha Man so much! But he realy looks like a professional heartbraker to me!! And yes, pacha man .... suits good. LOL!

Forgive me Dana, maybe I prefer more the Nordic type of man. Ha, Ha. But the musice is very, very good. Absolutely cool!

    Have a nice day, Dana!

  13. @Giffy.
Strange to say, we have the LP by the Yardbirds in our house. It is the double album which covers 3 periods of the band. with Clapton, Beck, and Page. I think the electric guitar is the greatest invention in the 20th century in Music world. When I think about the history of the classical music, I find lots of interesting relation between music and whole society those days, and it can be said in other music, too.

  14. @dana.
I visited "crack-crack" last Saturday for the aftercare of my neck.

The next comes, DARIE. just stay tuned, dana !

  16. @dana.
    At last, I did !
I had sarmale for a lunch in DARIE today. It was served with mamaliga.
dana, sarmale is very very excellent. I talked with the person in DARIE and she remembered I called her last month asking about the pickled cabbage.
She said it might be difficult to make only one cabbage ferment and I told her I planned to make 2 pickled cabbages. Then she proposed me that I made 2 or 3 , if possible, and completed sarmale and put some of them in the freezer. I think it is a good idea. And we talked about the temperature of the place I keep the container this season and also talked about how long. She is so kind. She doesn't seem to feel I would be her rival ...:-)))

I start to make 2-3 whole pickled cabbage this weekend, dana. I believe I'm ready for the good start !

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Ekaterina
LOL Sorry, I thought you WILL GO to DARIE!!! I didn't realize it's too late for this in Japan!:))
So you ate sarmale! Finally!!! I'm so glad you liked them and I'm glad you had the chance to ask about pickled cabbage!
Did you drink tuica? Now, when it's so brrr there, it would be good some hot tuica! lol

Now it's your turn to make pickled cabbage and sarmale! I'm sure you'll do a good job!

Good night and sweet dreams, my dear Ekaterina! Hugs!

  23. So they kicked us out of school today at 9:30am. Just because some idiot called in a bomb threat. Kelli, Amber & I were not happy at all. We wanted to go to our classes! Hopefully they won't do this again. They had 5 cop cars there & it took an hour to get out of the parking lot. It was entertaining though. We were gonna get out & B-slap this chick that was trying to cut in front of us. she had cut across the parking spaces & was trying to hit us. Then 3 guys were trying to push a car with 2 skinny little girls in it & they couldn't. LOL It was so funny. The car stalled when they were moving & they had to move it out of the way. Then 2 girls tried to get in the parking lot where we had just come out & they had to back up & they parked the car & got out to go to class. Someone yelled out their window & told them the school was closed until tonight.

  24. I wanted to tell you girls more about mobile17.com. I'm pretty sure everybody on the blog can use it because when I go to pick which country I'm in they have all the countries. You can make your own wallpapers & ringtones. You can use any pic or song on your computer. I love it & it's free!

    Love your cheese plate!

I had so much fun to see even the Gorgonzola! Sure, you will have a lot of success with this dinner.
What do you serve with the cheese, Ekaterina?

Different kind of bread, eventually you have also this kind of "small round breads" of different style (white, corn, etc.) in Japan. Before eating you have to put them for ca. 5 min. in the oven?

    or
    - French bread to Camenbert etc

Your cheese plate is wonderful, so you could celebrate this meal with a a nice glass of white wine like Chardonnay or eventually Freixenet (Gordon Negro Seco),
    here the link:

    http://www.freixenet.ch/freixenet/produkte.asp

Hope I could give you some inspiration, Dear Ekaterina.

    Wish you a successful evening!

    !!! the bomb threat !? !!!
I'm happy that it was only the threat, Mel.
It was not like in Moscow.

Hope you enjoy school in good health, our dear Mel !

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Nicoletta
WOW!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! I just listened to all the samples there!!! I'm delighted!!! Great music, pure rock, wonderful clear voice! I love it!
I found some beautiful ballads: All I Care For, I'm On My Way, Father Is That Enough?, One Life,One Soul, Lonely People, Someday, Peace of Mind...
And I found some other great songs that I like very much, as: Sister Moon, Mad Love, Hurry, Top of the World, I Don't Mind, Where's Love When it's Gone, Lift U up...and much more!
And I found the songs that I knew before to know who these guys are: Got to be Love and Janie's Not Alone!! I told you I knew Steve Lee just as he looks like, but not by his name! And I didn't know almost anything about Gotthard, I think just the name of the band!
    Thank you again!

Have a wonderful day, my dear Nicoletta! Kisses and hugs!

  31. @Dana

Thank you so much Dana, for all your warmhearted words and also the listing up off all the great songs!

I am so happy, that you estimate the link so much and think there you can almost find the "History of Gotthard".

But do not freak out, Dana, because this are just "small extents" of the songs!! But I think, all in all it is nice to hear them.

    Enjoy the afternoon, Dana!
    Hugs & Kisses!!!

  32. @dana.
yes, DARIE is the nice and excellent restaurant and I love Romanian meals.
Yesterday I planned to make cheese hunting after DARIE, but actually I visited the cheese stores before DARIE, bc I had some urgent appointment in the afternoon. I had a taste of many cheese and I felt my stomach full, so I thought about going to DARIE another time, as my friend did not come with me yesterday due to a cold and I was alone. But fascination by Romania simply pushed my back and I visited DARIE as scheduled.
Then, dana, my decision was right. Sarmale was really really delicious and once I had the first taste of it, I forgot I was not hungry. That's so funny ! and I enjoyed my first sarmale and finished one plate all. I wanted to order dessert, too, but I didn't have enough time yesterday due to sudden appointment, so next time.

As I mentioned in my previous text, I talked with the lady in DARIE, who looks in early 30's, about the whole pickled cabbage, but I didn't ask her about Romanian cheese yesterday, bc I had already bought them before I went DARIE, and I also thought I had better not ask so much about the Romanian foods at my first visit there, bc DARIE is the restaurant and I thought they wanted me to visit there often and enjoyed meals there before answering to many of my questions. In fact I visit there again next month with my friend.

As for my lineup today, Fleuron de Bruges which is the so-called washed type, and Clacbitou which is the cheese from goat, were almost my first experience, dana. They are also nice cheese.

snowing in Campina ? ... dark brown and red brown must be a little easily noticed in snow.
I love squirrel, but to my regret, we don't have squirrel in center of Tokyo where I live. So I like hearing about your guests in your fir tree.

Have a beautiful evening, my dear dana ! Hugs !

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Mel I'm glad you are safe from the bomb threat and only had a little road rage in the parking lot. Nice to hear of students who want to go to class.

@Dana You are the most upbeat happy person I know. Always so helpful and happy! You are a goodwill ambassador for Romania! I want to make smarale and I don't even like cabbage. Haha. That's not true I love saurkraut.

@Nicoletta I will have to go listen to the excerpts on Gottard website too! His voice and music lives on. I was listening to BassHunter on my techno weekend, but he's Swedish isn't he? The musical Mamma Mia was on tv and I can't believe I haven't seen that before. I enjoyed all the Abba songs again.

@Ekaterina I compliment you on your cheese list. What a tasty assortment and I can't believe you swirled around and picked up all those cheeses in 15 min. I wonder what ALS thinks of your list! I'm sure it made him smile. I think you're very brave to go to Darie by yourself and try new foods. I wonder how the owner likes living in Tokyo? I bet all your friends enjoyed your delicious cheese dinner. What a treat. I wish I could send you the squirrels in front of my window. There are too many, but wouldn't the custom officals be surprised when they opened the shipping container...

@Corinna Hope you are having a good week at training and do well on your test.

  35. @Nicoletta
You're welcome, my dear! But I am that one that has to thank you for this awesome music!
I think now I realized what Steve Lee meant! I'm very, very sorry he's gone!

    @Ekaterina
I can't tell you how happy I am that you enjoyed the time you spent at DARIE and that you liked the food! I'd like you to find another tasty Romanian dishes. I don't know if you took a look on the link about Romanian cuisine that I posted here, you can find there some suggestions.
I'm curious what they can offer as a desert!

Yes, it snowed in Campina, we have a lot of snow and it's pretty cold!
My dad told me that our squirrels visited us yesterday! LOL I haven't seen them for some weeks! I have to tell you that I live on the outskirts of town and nearby is a forest! I don't think they would have visited me if I'd have lived in the down town! :))They are very playful and cute!

Wish you a nice evening and a restful night, dear Ekaterina! Kisses!

Haha! Goodwill ambassador sounds good, but I know a handsome guy that is The Ambassador of Elegance!!! LOL

I like Basshunter too! He visits Romanian clubs pretty often!

  37. @Dana My dear Dana, unfortunately Vevo has blocked that video! I guess that's fair, you'll have to give me a hint. And while I wait for you to tell me who and what song, it says on Wikipedia (if you can believe that) that Basshunter suffers from Tourettes. That's random, isn't it? He's a good looking kid. I think we should have a round table discussion on what topic? Nordic Men and what makes them attractive or the Ambassador of Elegance? :)

  46. @Nicoletta I do live at the end of 8 mile (Eminem) but I live way out in the country so I'm not really at all in a dangerous area. We've only been here one and half years. The auto industry is big and it's really a depressed economy right now. I'm sure that's why I'm having a problem finding a job and spend way too much time on the computer.

@Dana Did you read the comments on Kjetil's recent blog? ROFLOL!

I'm sorry that I didn't try it again last night, dear Nicoletta. I was a bit tired and sleepy after so much excitement of my first attempt of the cheese supper yesterday.

First of all, I've often worried that many Japanese misunderstand about the cheese, especially the imported ones. They have a kind of the fixed idea that the imported cheese are very salty and have a strong smell and taste.

Having talked with you, dana, Mel, corinna, AM, and Giffy about the cheese and enjoyed the cheese conversation together here, I started to feel like having the cheese supper in my house and inviting some of my Japanse friends who were played with that wrong fixed idea.

I served my lineup with stuffed olive, saure Gurken, and fresh celery and paprika. As for the bread, I wanted to prepare several kinds, but I didn't, instead I prepared only baguette, bc I thought it better for my friends to concentrate on cheese this time.
and as we Japanese seldom have the cheese supper, I also prepared some smoked salmon from Norway with onion, caper and lemon.
And many strawberries. Our strawberries are nicely sweet.

btw, Nicoletta, how did you know we had Chardonnay !? ...;-))) yes, I prepared a bottle of Chardonnay.

I think I try Tilsiter and Gruyere next time if possible. I also like to have Bundner Bergkase, but I'm not sure if I can.

As I already declared, the cheese supper on Tuesday was in great success. My guests were so pleased with the real taste of the cheese !

Hopw you have a beautiful day, ny dear Nicoletta !

    ReplyDelete
  62. @dana.
Living in outskirt sounds nice, dana. I think living in center of the big city like Tokyo is also nice, but not always. Because it is sometimes too convenient. It means we are always involved with too busy life. I know how to enjoy the life like this, but I often feel the time goes very very quickly every day.
You may feel strange that I say too convenient makes too busy, dana. But it's true. The convenience makes lots of things possible easily, but people do not always choose the right things to do. So I'm always trying to think about it.

Have a pretty day, my dear dana. I think I ask you for advice on dessert. ...;-))) Hugs !

    ReplyDelete
  63. @Giffy.
I'm so happy that you liked my lineup, Giffy !

btw, I believe that the custom officials in my side would ask you to send them, too. Because the squirrels are so lovely !

  64. @Ekaterina

Happy to read about your great success with the Cheese selection! Sorry that you lost the first comment!

That you did not serve to many varieties of bread is ok, I understand that your guests should "concentrate" on the cheese flavour. LOL!

Maybe you served also salmon because if a guest prefers fish to cheese, he/she does not get into troubles. I know that Japanese people are very polite, Ekaterina!

Chardonnay was my first idea because I was quite sure you can buy it everywhere in the world. And it is a nice, "en vogue" white wine!

During the night it was snowing again and I heard the snow cleaning machines working in the early morning! It is still cold here.

    Have a beautiful afternoon, Ekaterina!

Glad that you had no serious problems with the bomb warning and it was not a real one, Mel!

3 days per week with school is fantastic, nice to hear that you are so fond of going to the school.

Last night, I read an article about Ben Röthlisberger from Pittsburg Steelers. Do you know this guy??

Brrrr outside due to cold & dry air, but very warm inside here in Tokyo now, and no snow yet.

Talking about bread, the bread in Japanese is " pan ". The pronunciation of " pa " is the same as " pa " in papa. And the biggest surprise for all Japanese when they study English for the first time in school is to know " pan " is not English. I remember having talking with friends and teacher " bread ? what ? " ...:-))) Because almost all children thinks every foreign words are English until they start to attend school while only some children do not think like that. They are from some family which has been familiar with European culture and I was one of them. But even I believed " pan " was English until I was 6.
The bread was first brought to Japan in the 16th century from Portugal and this new food to us those days was called " pan ", similar pronunciation in Portuguese which means bread.
But it is the late 19th century that we've started to eat bread while calling it " pan ", and after WWII, it became popular food among us. And the English white bread is mostly eaten in Japan, especially for breakfast toasted and sandwitch for a lunch. The secondary eaten bread in Japan is Baguette, and we usually call it " France pan ", however I call baguette as baguette. And most Japanese prefers the white bread to another kind.
I personally like Brotchen and baguette, instead of English white bread. But we don't have nice Brotchen, but good baguette.
So I'm thinking next time I have the cheese supper, I'll also place some brown bread and mixed bread with nuts and some other things. I hope my friends will be pleased with it !

Have a nice afternoon and hope you enjoy the beautiful view in snow, my dear Nicoletta ! Hugs !

I'm glad you had a beautiful Cheese Party with your friends! I'm sure they appreciated your effort to find so many delicious sorts of cheese and I'm also sure they enjoyed the taste of them!
"Pan" in Romanian is "paine", reading like in Italian but with the accent on "a"!

I love to live in outskirt! It's a beautiful and peaceful place, I have a beautiful view from my window and the air is fresh! Me and my neighbors have so many trees and fruit trees near our houses and in the springtime the air smells so nice from all the blossoms of cherry, apricot, apple or plum!
I don't like crowds! It makes me feel tired! I like to ride my bike on the quiet hills around my town or in the nearby villages. I'm not a city girl!:))

Next time to DARIE I also recommend you to try "mici" (read like in Italian too!)Means grilled minced-meat rolls!
For the dessert I think you may try "clatite"-crêpe, "crema de zahar ars"- crème caramel, eclair, Savarine, Amandine... As you know, I love sweets! Haha!

Wish you to have a beautiful evening with your little Ekaterina! Hugs!

  69. @Nicoletta I just googled Ben Röthlisberger. Good looking guy, but I don't really follow the Steelers. My bestie would call me a traitor because the Cleveland Browns & Pittsburgh Steelers have a rivalry. Though I don't really follow the Browns either. I like the Dallas Cowboys & Miami Dolphins. Anyway, good looking guy though. I wish I knew him, but alas I don't.

  70. @Dana I like all the music you suggested except Rasmus for some reason. I really liked the Sasha & Rea Garvey video. That was so funny the bartender is mixing drinks (hey! What happened to our bartender?) and the people in the audience are singing along. Funny! Have you ever heard of Canadian Micheal Buble'? He sings that swing style of music. I joke that he always sings his name Buble somewhere in his songs. You'll have to search for him, he has a nice easy listening voice.

@Nicoletta I have heard of Ben. I think he grew up in Findlay,OH, and went to college at Miami of Ohio. He's a great big football player but has been in trouble with the law and sexual harassment several times. It's a big problem with American atheletes, like Tiger Woods? They make so much money, and feel so powerful, that they make big mistakes all the time. It's been reported in the American press that 90% of professional athletes cheat on their partners. I don't know if that's true? Glad my husband is in Marketing. You said earlier you were making dinner for your men, do you have sons?

@Ekaterina I am so glad your cheese party was a big success. It all sounds delicious and I know your friends enjoyed it. By the way, I'm sending 8 squirrels to you air mail. My cousin is a UPS pilot. Try to tame them if you can...also, I love sour gerken.

@Corinna Sorry you have to re-write your paper. Try again. You go get 'em. Keep up the good work. That's my pep talk for today.

I was thinking about ALS as I was shovelling snow from my driveway and he has had a lot of changes this past year; new coach, new skiis, new sponsers, new helmet, public relationship. What else? It must be difficult keep everyone's spirits up. But he's still doing well. It's pretty amazing actually, with so many changes he's such a great guy to his teammates and competitors, still an awesome athlete.

Anyway, good to check in with you all! Have a good one!
