HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

So today is Thanksgiving Day in the states. I thought in the tradition of Thanksgiving we could share what we are thankful for. I'm thankful for my friends & family because no matter what I know they are going to be there for me.

60 comments:

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

    We don't celebrate this day but I can be thankful for a lot of things! I'm thankful for my family, for being together and in a good health! I'm thankful for my friends, old and new, they make my life beautiful and they are always beside me! I'm also thankful for the bad things that happened into my life bc they made me stronger!

    @Mel Thanks for these beautiful pics! Have a great day with your family! Hugs!

  2. @Dana I think everyone should celebrate Thanksgiving because everyone has something to be thankful for. Though personally I could do with out Black Friday, but they have some really good deals this year.

  3. @Mel I see you have a lot of nice, interesting and useful things at Wal-Mart, lot of offers for the Black Friday:

    I can't believe Aksel doesn't know what Thanksgiving means! I think he's kidding! LOL

  4. Well I'm off to work. I've been up for 15 hours straight. I have to ask Brandon if I can stop taking my naproxen because I can't sleep. I'm gonna call my doctor on Monday. I really hate that they ate closed for the holiday. They should be open on Black Friday so I can call them right now & tell them that I can't sleep. Hopefully Brandon says I can stop taking it. I did venture out at midnight with my bestest Kelli. I got my dad's Christmas present & a couple DVDs & the first season of True Blood for 39.98. I wanted to only spend $40 & I did a very good job. Now I only have 2 more presents to buy. My Moms & Mams. I'm gonna go eat some pixie stix & hopefully the sugar will keep me going until my first break. Then I'll drink a 5 hour energy drink. I know I said I'd never drink another one, but I need it. When I get back home about 2 I'll take a shower eat some turkey & crash for about 12 hours. Hopefully. I feel like I'm rambling on & on so I'm gonna go. I hope you all have a great day & for those venturing out for all the deals good luck & I hope you find what your looking for. Zzzzzzz

    Thanks for the pretty pictures, Mel !

    We don't have the Thanksgivings Day in Japan, but we have had a custom to give presents which shows thankfukness twice a year.

    btw, Mel, it's pity you still suffer from the shoulder trouble and have to take some medicine. But I'm sure you'll be free from medicine, and often meet Brandon outside pharmacy !

    Have a good rest, Mel !

    Wishing you a restful holiday, Giffy, bc you worked hard in the kichen, however I'm sure you enjoyed it !

  7. @dana, & @Nicoletta.
    It is just middle of autumn in Tokyo. All leaves of ginkgo trees turned into yellow today. And there are many red leaves of cherry trees and maple trees. So it's time to get ready for making our small garden winter version, and I'll do it tomorrow. And, then, sarmale on coming Sunday !!!

    yes, Ekaterina is my baby sister's name, and it comes from Ekaterina II. My real name is Yuko. !!! I think you might be puzzled over it, because my name ends with " o ". I know most of the female names in both of your countries never end with " o ". But it's quite normal in Japan, as we don't have the grammartical gender in Japanese. * Yuko * is also quite common female name in my country. As a matter of fact, I've seen this name in the comment section of ALS. But Ekaterina is a girl who wants to do things with her elder sister Yuko, so we post comments together, by her name and by my text. The pronunciation of * Yuko *: " Yu " is the same as " you " , and " ko " is the same as " co " in " coin ".

    Have a beautiful weekend, dana & Nicoletta ! Hugs !

  8. @Ekaterina I like your name! And I knew to pronounce it before you told me, I think is bc we pronounce Y like Italian I and K like C!
    My name is Cristina-Daniela and Dana is an abbreviation from Daniela, very used in Romania!

    I think autumn is so beautiful in Tokyo these days! Here the winter is on its way to me, in the north of my county is already snow!

    Talking about "cooking blog" I have to tell you I'm thinking of you from a few hours bc I'm making sarmale!!! And I forgot to tell you, after you roll the meat in the cabbage sheet, you have to push the extremities inside, to not let the composition to spread during the boiling process!

    Wish you to have a nice evening and a great and successful weekend! Kisses!

    ReplyDelete
  9. @dana.
    Your name sounds very beautiful ! I love it !as well as dana.

    and thanks for some final check ! OK, I'll push extremities inside. I'll be careful, dana !

    I go to bed thinking of snow on the carpathians. Good night, dana ! Hugs !

    i had learned so much

    also ekaterina is yuko
    dana is cristina-daniela
    nicoletta is nicole

    ok i have to get this in my head to follow you girls!

  22. @Yuko (Ekaterina)

    You have a lovely name, sounds very Japanese to me!!

    Must be just wonderful in Tokyo with this coloured leafs! The cherry trees are quite famous, in Spring it must be absolutely great.

    Where I live in Zurich, it is a little bit on a height, the trees and fields are covered with snow. It looks really beautiful. It is exactely my taste, streets are clean, just a kind of wonderful decoration! But it is quite cold, especially in the mornings -7 degrees.

    Dani Albrecht does not start for the race today. I think he is a wonderful guy with a lot of courage. As I learnt, he misses still a part of his memories. But he makes absolutely the best of it and his family, his girl fried and the ski team support him so much, that is wonderful! Without that, ther would be no way to come back on the slopes. I think he has already proved already that he is on the way.

    @Dana
    You are right, on the 6th I can enjoy always twice!!
    Hope for you that your working time was "a quick" one. May I ask you, what is your profession, I am just a little curious?

    @Corinna
    So Corinna, I presume you are a real Corinna. Ha, Ha. Why making things so complicate if it can be so easy!

    @Mel
    Take care of your sholder, Mel. Hope for you that it comes better soon.
    Good luck and the very best for the "Brandon Affair".

    @All
    Have a great time and enjoy watching out for no. 18!!
    Go go go, Aksel!!

    @corinna.
    I imagine the beautiful scenery in your hometown in Bavaria, corinna ! and I do hope your voice recovers from smoking tone.

    As for the course ( your topic in ALS ), I think it is nearly the same, because the race organizer likes to collect the data on the same slope every year. They need to know the information about the security of the course to avoid the accidents. I was thinking about your interesting question during my work in the garden this afternoon. My point of view may be wrong, because I'm not from the snow fall area. But if I were an organizer of the race, I think I care about it first.

    Hope you enjoy the race very soon, corinna !

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Nicoletta I work on a protocol villa of a construction company. And Saturdays I work just 4 hours, till the noon!

    @Corinna My family and all my friends call me Dana, I'm used to this name and I "feel" it fits me very well. When someone call me Cristina I don't realize from the start is about me! LOL

    @Ekaterina I' like to work in the garden too! I feel so good, it relaxes me! But here is pretty cold now and the wind is very strong and there's nothing I can do in the garden until the spring time.
    I can't wait to see Aksel in action this evening (20:30 my time)And I can't wait to see his Speedy Mustache, like Adam Malysz's Flying Mustache! LOL

    @AM Wish you to feel better soon, my dear Anne-May! I miss you! LKH!

    @All Have a nice day/ evening my friends!

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Nicoletta.
    Nicole/Nicoletta are both pretty lovely name !
    When I first saw your name in ALS, I remembered " Opera " and " Operetta ", and I thought you were from Italian speaking area until I knew you are from Zurich, German speaking area. Would you please let me know of the place of the accent ? an accent on " co " in Nicole, and on " le " in Nicoletta ?
    In my name, an accent on " yu " in Yuko.

    -7C in the morning ! But the low temperature is rewarded with snow ! As long as I know, we have not had the temperatue at -7c in Tokyo, but I always think I want to stay in bed just after I wake up in autumn and winter, simply because it is so comfortable in bed during those season. It is nicely warm. I put off the air-conditioner, which we use both for the cool & warm, during even in winter. Because we don't need it. But we have a warm bedding which keeps warm by small amount of electricity in safety. I think you have this kind, too. It is called the electric chair. No ! No ! the electric blanket. Of course I haven't switched it on yet, bc it's still warm enough without it. So it's a bit hard for me to get out of my bed, but tomorrow morning is the special day for me. First the result of the race, and then Sarmale ! So I'll willingly get out of bed tomorrow !

    and, yes, Dani Albrecht. I think it is the right decision he will not run today. Because it is already a big step for him to enter the training run. A little by little is just OK, I think.

    Hope you have a great weekend, Nicoletta !

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ekaterina i think they will look that they have every year the same conditions but what about the movements on the mountain like mudslides and when the stones going down?! about that was i thinking bc on the mountains are always are moving it´s nature and it´s live, so i don´t think that the slopes are every year exactly the same like the year before and so on!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @dana.
    How was your sarmale last night ? dana ?
    I make it tomorrow, and I really thank you for your great support, dana !

    I'd also like to ask you about the place of the accent on your lovery name ! the accent on " ti " in Cristina and on " e " in Daniela ?
    One of my German friend's name is Stephanie
    originally, but when someone calls " Stephanie, " she would not notice it, and when someone calls her again " Stephanie ", she looks around as if she is looking for Stefanie. She is called Steffi generally and almost officially.
    and, dana, we don't have the middle name in Japan. and in Japanese, the family name comes first, then own name. I think it is also in Hungary, however I'm not sure.

    I think normally it is colder in Ploiesti than in Tokyo in winter. and also Lady winter comes in Romania earlier than in Tokyo, even if you had an extraordinary long summer ! So, I understand you have to wait for work in the garden until next spring. btw, dana, I forgot to write that Ginkgo tree is the tree of Tokyo.

    I suppose Aksel will run during my sleep, so let me politely ask you to " shout and scream " twice or the double volume, please, dana !

    Hope you enjoy a happy weekednd, dana !

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Ekaterina
    My sarmale are delicious! No bragging! LOL I have to tell you sarma is singular and sarmale is plural. But as we never make just one sarma we say we make sarmale!

    You're right about the accents on my names, on "ti" at Cristina and on "e" at Daniela. And Dana sounds like in Italian or Spanish, not like in English.
    At school and in any official things like papers, ID etc. the family name comes first like in Japan, but when I introduce myself to someone I say my name first and then my family name. At Daiki Ito which is his name?

    I live in Campina, 35km north of Ploiesti, which is the capital of my county, Prahova. My city has the most sunny days per year in Romania!
    I 'll remember you and Tokyo when I'll take my Ginkgo pills! LOL

    I promise to shout and scream also for you tonight! Hope I'll not wake you up! Haha!

    Another thing about sarmale: you may cover the pot with a foil before to get it in the oven to not let the water to evaporate before the sarmale are ready and, as you read on the recipe, they have to boil pretty much. You may add a cup of hot water when it needs, if it needs. About 30 minutes before to take them out of the oven, you can remove the foil, it shouldn't be much water in the pot when they are ready.
    Hope you understand what I mean! LOL

    Have a pleasant evening, my dear Ekaterina! And a successful Sunday! Hugs!

  32. Hi Girls

    @Ektaterina
    Wish you a pleasant gardening work! It seems if someone has a garden, there is always a lot to do!

    The pronounciation of Nicole is more "Nicoll", the "i" is short and accented and you say it like with double ll, and you do not say the "e" at the end.

    But am used to listen to almost every kind of pronounciation. LOL!
    But I hate if somebody says Nikol! Ha, Ha.

    You are perfectly right, Nicoletta is defenitely kind of Nicole in the Italian language. It is nearly spoken like Rigoletto, like the opera, LOL!

    @Dana
    So your profession is kind of sales coordinator in a construction company??? Sorry I dot understand very well, I am just guessing...

    @Corinna
    Thanks for the great pics! You are absolutely spoilt with all the mountains there!!

    In Switzerland it is very cold too and the trees at my place have even more snow on it LOL!, and the snow is like conserved because of the cold -2 until -7! But I miss the beautiful mountains!

    In the news they said in some regions in the mountains they have kind of record minus tempertures in the night, like approx. -26!!

    @All
    Have a pleasant weekend! Do not scream too loud, be careful with your throats!!!

  42. @dana.
    Daiki is his name, and Ito is his family name.

    Thanks for your precious advices for my second stage, ... or would -be the second stage. ...
    I think it is the matter of the cabbage itself.
    I'm very happy to declare that I was successful in prepareing the whole pickled cabbage, and I really thank you very much for this, dana !
    But. But. When I tried to peel a leaf off the whole cabbage, of course with the much carefullness, slowly and gently, it was torn. All the leaves of the cabbage have become too fragile. So I decided to change the menu for dinner. The cabbage leaves taste so nice ! not too salty and not too sour, it is magnificently and magically good taste. just soft and mild, but not only the taste, the leaf itself became soft and mild. So I make the salad, adding some other vegetables.
    and as for the meat, I planed to prepare the leaves first, because I can prepare the meat while I let the leaves drain, so I had not mixed the meat with onion and rice yet. So I cooked the meat-sauce with these materials, adding carot.

    I think the cabbage is the same kind of yours, but I think the process from the farm to the shop might be a bit different. Normally Japanese people prefers the soft leaves of the cabbage, because we often eat the fresh cabbage chopped very finely, although I prefer the pickled taste leaf like I made, and the Sauerklaut.
    I'll call the Romanian restaurant and ask them how to treat the cabbage in the grocery store in Tokyo to have the leaves pickled for sarmale. Because it was impossible to make even one sarma with my cabbage today.
    dana, I'm not distressed, bc it is my first try and the first try often ends in vain and I can learn a lot from this failure which surely leads me to the podium.
    I go back to the kitchen to prepare salad and spaghetti.
    See you later, dana ! Hugs !

    I thought so, that Daiki is his name, but I wasn't sure! Thank you!

    I'm sorry for your cabbage!!!! You were so excited! I think you waited too long before the second stage, maybe if you made the sarmale a few days earlier it would been better. Or maybe your cabbage is too soft, comparing mine! But as you just said, you may ask to a Romanian restaurant about the right cabbage for sarmale!

    Anyway, enjoy your cooking session!

    Have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs!

    and soon it'll be December, possibly the most beautiful month in your area. A lot of things seem to like to help you recover from the health trouble. So, take it easy, AM ! If I lived in your town, I would have visited you and done some household things for you. Please accept my wish, and I do hope you become well ! AM !

    You are always much welcome ! dana !

    yes, I think I should have made it some days ealier as you have often suggested. It was a bit difficult to judge the taste of the brine. Anyhow I'll ask about the cabbage itsef to the Romanian restaurant in Tokyo, and I'll try it again !

    and once again, I'd like to ask you to scream and shout for SG. I think Aksel wins it. I feel the same as you do, dana. He is in very good shape now. I think it might be the most important part for the athlete, and he uses Zorro for this ! I bet Your Zorro must be very pround of him !

    Have a great evening, dana ! I don't mind if you scream and shout loudly enough to wake me up ! Hugs !

    Thanks for the link 1 corinna ! I really want to see the pics, but my pc would not react the link, to my regret ! probably due to some technical reason, and I've been thinking about asking for my pc service person to check it, but the line is always busy. I like to solve these within next month.

    btw, as for the comment, I understand that the mountains are moving. The surface is changing. But it might not be so different from the last year, bc Aksel talks so often about " man made something " So the race organizer may fix it to be nearly the same. but of course I'm not sure !

    It's wonderful you can enjoy the both ski and some water sports in the lakes in Bavaria. Do you often visit Schliersee and Spitzingsee in summer ?

    Enjoy the race in the evening, but save your voice ! and hope you have a beautiful new week, corinna ! Hugs !

    Maybe you are interested in the Woman's Giant Slalom in Aspen too?

  57. @Corinna Karen & I were talking about what he said about me not sleeping. He gave me a list of things to do to make me go to sleep. I told her I was very tempted to say I can think of one thing that will make me go to sleep, but I need a man for that. Then she told me about a customer that's married & really likes him & said something really explict to him. I said he's adorable who wouldn't like him. At least mine wasn't that bad. She said yeah, but he'd have to get rid of his girlfriend first.
