  3. @Corinna Oh no! I hope they make a full recovery. Unfortunately my translater isn't working so I can't read the article hopefully it will work later & I can read it.

I think we need a new drink for our 8th Month Anniversary. I'm thinking of a hot drink.

    Bavarian Blizzard
    1oz Cognac
    1oz Rumple Minze
    Coffee or Hot Chocolate

Fill mug with Coffee/Hot Chocolate, add the alcohol then top with whipped cream.

Now if only I could try it. Hopefully next month or in 2 months I can try it for my birthday.

  8. @dana.
Enjoy reading about St.Andrew's Day ! dana !
I'm sure your family & your house have a good luck which means safe and happy.

In my country, many traditions are fading away, becuase our life style changes drasticaly in the recent 100 years, and I will experience one of them this weekend.

I was going to visit DARIE this Saturday, but I have to postpone it, because I have to attend the funneral ceremony of one of my relatives this weekends. I've heard that once we had a close and tight relationship among relatives, but it is also fading away now. I also experienced it on the occasion of my mom's funneral ceremony last year. When I was busy things with the coffin, one lady walked to me and said she would take my handbag so that both of my hands would be free. I thought I didn't know her and I looked at my dad and he was not surprised with it. Later I knew she was a daughter of one of cousins of my mom.
But for me, it seems rather normal that we don't know and don't even see relatives. I think it is because we have many opportunities to meet the people, ( especially in Tokyo )and spend more time with them, become knowing each other. But some people say it is one of losing tradition, but I think it is the new tradition and feel it natural and nice.

Have a pleasant day, dana ! Is is already in nearly winter in Ploiesti ?

  9. @Ekaterina
I'm sorry you lost one of your relatives! It's so sad to lose someone you care about!

I have a large family, many uncles and aunts and so many cousins-boys and girls! Almost all my cousins are married and they have kids!!! I even have a few months old grandniece! LOL It's true, I don't meet them all very often, but we know each other, talk by phone, send cards and letters! Most of them live in other cities around my country but we meet usually on the summer holiday and we have a lot of fun together!

We lost many of our traditions too, especially those living is big cities, but I remember many things that my mom and my grandma told me and taught me over the years and I try to keep them alive.
Unfortunately we replaced some of Romanian traditions with some imported ones. For example we celebrate St. Valentine's Day but we forgot we have on 24th of February Dragobete day- lovers' day! As I told you, many Romanian kids know about Halloween but they don't even heard about St Andrew's night! And is such a shame!
We also have an ancient tradition of Martisor, on the 1st of March. It's a bit difficult to me to explain you all about this (bc of my modest English) so I found this link if you want to read more (but I don't want to get you bored!):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%83r%C5%A3i%C5%9For

I think I told you I live in Campina, 35 km north of Ploiesti (I don't know why on feedjit traffic it says Ploiesti). And it's not quite winter, though is pretty cold but it's raining. I hope real winter, with snow, it will come till the Christmas.

Wish you to have a beautiful afternoon/evening, Ekaterina! Kisses!

  10. @Nicole I know you will get awesome grades your first semester. Have you made any good friends in your dorm? Enjoy your holiday break!

@Nicoletta I hope the Swiss trainers recover quickly and are going to be ok?

@Dana I was thinking this a.m. when I woke up that I should send my Mom to you as a mail order bride! Wouldn't your Dad be surprised to find her under the Christmas tree! LOL! I'm sorry we keep sending all our crazy holiday's your way, blame the tv advertisers and marketing people.

@Corinna I just couldn't remember the name in German. I think it's sweet that he calls you that even though you're all grown up.

@Mel You go get 'em. Don't give up, and don't back down. It is too hard to find a new job these days.

@Ekaterina I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry you can't start a new recipe of cabbage. Hopefully, next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @dana.
You have a large family , dana ! and I wouldn't be surprised that you have a little grandniece, because your brother is 10 years older than you, and if he got married young and became father , and his child got married also young, it IS possible !
I think it is wonderful that your family get along with nicely. I was also impressed to read Mel's blog on Veterans' Day. She also thinks about her family members.
The reason I visit funeral of a person who passed away day before yesterday is he was 90 years old and I'm informed that not so many people visit his funeral and I feel it's a pity. My father is absent from it, because he has other appointments on this weekends already.

and, thank yo for the link, dana ! Martisor. It's very beautiful and natural tradition. I love red & white amulet !

yes ! I know you live in Campina and the Police Agents School is located in your city.
The Lady Winter seems going in Campina, dana, and it'll be 23C in Tokyo tomorrow... It's +23C, never -23C. However neither of them is far from normal, I think.

I'm going to the concert of " Matthew Passion " by J.S.Bach tomorrow evening, going to visil of my relative on Saturday's evening, and going to the funeral which starts at 10:00 and ends possibly at around 17:00 on Sunday. But that's OK, because I can ask you to shout & scream for Aksel. ...;-))) while I'm in bed, because I suppose I'll be very tired on this weekends, because I always feel strange when I meet some of my relatives whom I almost do not know in person. In fact we have to pretend to be familier with each other for years and we have to behave like that. I think all the family attendance feel the same as I feel.
So I'll try to be an elegant actress in black with pearl. ( It's almost Japanese rule at funeral for ladies. )

Hope you have snow falling in Campina, dana ! Kisses !

  12. @Giffy.
Thanks, Giffy ! I hope the cabbage is patient enough to wait for me to make my schedule again for it !
love the idea of a mail order bride ! I love such a funny joke, Giffy !

  13. @Giffy.
    ....Is it not a joke ? ....

Hope you enjoy a nice day, Giffy ! Hugs.

  14. @Giffy
My dear Sis, I hope I didn't upset you, it wasn't my intention, I have nothing against your traditions! More than this, it's not your fault that we don't pay more attention to ours! LOL But I don't like there's more marketing than feelings! Sorry if I offended you some way, as I said before it wasn't my intention!
And you know how much I love you!

I think my dad is pretty old to believe in Santa, but I'm sure he will be happy to find a nice lady like your mom under the Christmas tree! Haha! Or should we ask her nicely to jump out from a big cake for him? LOL
    Kisses!

    @Ekaterina
Where do you know about the Police Agents School? I haven't told you about this!:-))
Yes, I hope it will snow on Christmas, everything looks so beautiful and the Carols have a different sound when it snows!

I'm glad you read that link and you like it!
And I'm happy for you about the concert, wish you to have a nice time there!

Actress or not, I'm sure you'll be a very elegant presence at the funeral, in black with pearl! I even can imagine you dressed like this!

Regarding Aksel's races, don't worry! As I promised, I'll scream and shout thinking of you! LOL Hope my throat resists three races in a row! Haha!
Have a nice evening and a restful night! Hugs!

  15. @Nicoletta.
Thanks for introducing me of Alfred Escher.
I suppose people were exciting about the railway in 19th century.
Grandfather of my German friend in Berlin is son of the ex-vice president of Deutsche Bundesbahn. He will be 91 years old next month and is very well and fine. He might hear about Herr Escher from his father , though I'm not sure he still remembers it or not.
And that's also great that he founded polytechnicum. I think it is similar to Gymnasium, Nicoletta. right ? I respect a person who devotes to education.

The tourism in early 20th century brought many things to our life even now. I've seen a photo which ladies in long clothes and a hat posed for a photo and behind them are beautiful mountains with snow.

Talking about the railways, we are taught in high school about 3C Policy vs 3B Policy. I think it might be our ways of thinking to understand the world situation from late 19th century to early 20th century. 3C is Cairo - Capetown - Calcutta, and 3B is Berlin - Byzantium - Baghdad. You may notice that some of the names are old ones , because it is the policy many years ago. British Empire and German Empire were working hard to enlarge their influence to the world which would guarantee their national interest. And they drew the map with railways which connected 3C (Briish Policy), meanwhile 3B(German Policy). But some of the points are met. Nicoletta, it is the story during the Imperialism period. and 3C vs 3B would lead the world to WWI, and then, WWII. But I think Herr Escher established the railways for peaceful reason, that is , for Swiss and Switzerland to have a better access to other region.

Again, please accept my best wishes of the recovery for the Swiss trainers who were involved in the terrible accident.

Hope you enjoy a beautiful day, Nicoletta ! I head to bath and jump into my bed. Good night . Hugs !

@Everyone I just had a brilliant idea. We could celebrate everyones holidays. You can send me a list of the holidays at CLBYSGRL555@yahoo.com. Then I'll post a blog for the holiday when it's time to celebrate it.

I go see the Workers Comp lawyer on tuesday hopefully he'll be able to help me. He said he's dealt with Wal-Mart before & that they really hate Workers Comp.

  18. @Mel You always have brilliant ideas! One of them is this blog!

  21. I actually think ALS does read your comments on his website. Today, he posted a "not too big smile." Someone asked for that?

@Dana Of course you didn't hurt my feelings about our crazy US holidays! We know they're crazy and often call some of them Hallmark Holidays (which is the name of the large greetings card store.) Don't worry, I'm not mad. I bought a vibrant red poinsettia today and remembered to wash my hands after! LOL! I'd never heard that before, I'm surprised I've lived this long. haha. My Mom would be happy to jump around a cake or out of a cake, just as long as there is cake. And don't forget about the wine, most important, and the dancing.

@Ekaterina Of course it is a joke, I was actually giggling about it myself. My Mom lives in Florida. I love her dearly but I don't get to see her as much as I'd like. I probably won't send her to Dana and her Dad, but wouldn't it be fun to try? Then we could all get together. I can imagine you in black dress and pearls too! I think that is the standard attire for funerals in the US also. I'm sure it's a comfort to your Father and the other relatives that you will be there.

  22. @Corinna TYVM Mauschen. I don't have an omlott (is that the double dot above the letter o?) on my keyboard. LOL! I'll practice saying it. Can I call my husband that or is it only for girls? Haha! I can't tell you what I have been calling him...

    ReplyDelete
  23. @giffy mäuschen is more for girls! (is that the double dot above the letter o?) = yes and i know that in the american keyboards they don´t have that!

you can call your husband = spatzl (in bavarian sweetheart)

You make me laugh! I love this thing about wedding!!! LMAO

Good girl, you washed your hands! LMAO You've lived this long bc your guardian angel told you to wash your hands after you touched the Poinsettia! Hehe!
I know just about Hallmark tv channel! Now they changed its name in DIVA International! lol
I'm glad you're not upset on me! I guess my "I love you" was so touching to you and has convinced you to forgive me, right? Haha!

  48. @Ekaterina
Thanks for your interesting information about the railways.
You are wonderful Ekaterina, you have a great knowledge about nearly everything. I appreciate very much talking with you.

I wish you a beautiful weekend with the Bach concert. Hopefully the visit and the funeral are not so said and moving for you. Probably you can accept that your relative passed away with 90 years. On the otherhand it will remind you to the funeral of your mother, that is not yet so long time ago.
Please accept all my feelings and emotions that you will be strong enough to stay through that occasion.

Last night I was searching about some interesting infos about Alfred Escher. You know he was really the creator of modern Switzerland. Otherwise we would still be a country of farmers.

Dear Ekaterina, I will post the links about Alfred later on because I want to read them before and post them in a logigal order.

I wanted to say that I feel absolutely honoured that you are interested in Switzerland. And it is always great for me that you make absolut the right conclusions to my comments.

See you Ekaterina, and have a peaceful evening!

  50. @Dana I'm enjoying envisioning sending my Mom to you. What a hoot! Won't you be surprised...She's blonde and blue eyed and completely silly. I don't think she'll mind that your Dad doesn't dance. She'll teach him some moves and charm him into dancing. She loves red wine, I hope you have a lot. I could never be mad at you. You are very dear, we all love you.

@Corinna HaHa! I laughed really hard at spatzel and barchen! Is it spatzel like the noodle? That's hilarious. I will use that. I've been calling him Bankfarter...with an accent. Dance like crazy this weekend! You've got to make up for two weeks! :)

@Nicole I wondered if you were going to PR for Christmas! Wonderful, enjoy! Do you have special recipes you cook to celebrate? You can always join in a conversation or hijack it like I do...good luck on your exams. You go get 'em.

@Nicoletta Any news on the Swiss trainers?

Where oh where has our Anne May gone? Where oh where can she be? Maybe she'll be back after today's race. I've got to rush off and check to see if I can watch the WC Birds of Prey race? Have a good weekend everyone!

  52. @Giffy Hi Sis! I made my dad laugh! Haha! But I have to tell you no one and nothing will make him dance! Not even your lovely mom! LMAO Hey, how could you say she's silly?

Unfortunately Anne-May has some health problems and she spends almost all the time in bed! She's got a very bad cold! I'll tell her you asked for her, I'm sure she will appreciate!

Yes I understand it like you said Curdin Fasser is really badly injured.

He is taken into an artificial coma, which is common with traumatic brain injury.
