Brotherly Love

It's always nice to spend time with your sibling. There's nothing like a bond between brothers...or sisters.

Now this picture looks better.

  6. @Mel Thanks Mel! We missed you. Been camping?

@Dana What do you think about motorcycles instead of bicycles? You could both ride on one motorcycle? Hold onto his chest and hug on his back? I like the interactive aspect of this novel.

@Corinna Glad you are almost back to 100%! Stay dry! :)

I'm glad to have you back! I think your sweet Ella-May keeps you busy!:)

    @Corinna
I don't know what kind of quince jam you ate, but mine it's not sour at all! It's the first time when I hear about quince jam that is sour.

    @Giffy
To ride a motorcycle is my dream since I was a teenager! LOL So I'd be happy to put my arms around The Doctor's athletic body and hug him tight!!LMAO

    Take care with your coughing!

I think there are several nasty coughings around. Mine was also mysterious!

After the antibiotics did not help at all, I told the docter that I was coughing since last August with some good weeks between, and may be it is a kind of mixture between allergy (hay fever) and perhaps kind of virus!

So I have got a cortison injection what all allergic person get, what the doctor told, to get immune of allergies. At the same time the injection cured a terrible rash over the wole body that I have got after the antibiotics.

Immediately after the injection I felt much better, and at the moment I am quite ok.

Sorry Girls, could not speak about that when I was ill. Felt to terrible!

I made elder flower syrup in May, it was delicious!!! Haha! We make it by ourselves too, it's very easy!
10-12 elder flowers, 2-3 lemons, 1kg sugar and 8-9 l of water! With a wooden spoon mix the ingredients twice a day and after 3-5 days (depends how warm is the place where you keep it) we strain it, pour it in bottles and keep it in the fridge. Do you make it the same?

How do you feel? How was your day at work? I hope you're fine, my dear! Hugs!

Hi,Mel ! Glad to see our dear Host's Post !
How is dear Ella May ? btw.

  18. @corinna. & @dana.
I know it is because of the difference in climate between Europe and Japan, but I always long for dana's pantry. We don't have such a many berries. Or we don't have the custom to " use " them. btw, my e-mail address starts with johannisbeere and many of my Japanese friends think it is a code. ... ;-))), bc they don't know it !

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Nicoletta.
so, it will be almost one year that you've suffered from a mysterious cough. But cortison seems to work well and I think it's a good news !

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Nicoletta. & @corinna.
The weather looks wild there ! The weather here is not wild, but terribly hot night and day. I can't mention the typhoon is wild, bc it's the normal item in Japan.

Many people here suffer from the heat exhaustion, bc our governments ask us to save the power, which means the government wants us to set higher temperature of the air-conditioner than usual years. But I decline it, bc I don't like to be ill. I think I'm WILD ! ... ;-)))

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Ekaterina
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you have elderberry in Japan too. Check this link and see if you recognize them! In Romania you can find them from plains to the mountains, they are ordinary shrubs.

and to where will the envelope which a beautiful stamp on be delivered ? ... ;-)))
To the lake ? to the hut? mmmmm I'm sure Giffy decides the best destination !

yes ! you can cook me !

Thanks for the link. I tried it, but I failed.
You're not wrong, my dear dana, but I think Japanese people prefer them to look as a decoration and would not eat. I don't know why, I guess the sugar was too precious for us and we didn't know how to get the honey. Now the situation is totally different from the former times, but I think we missed the opportunity to make them get ready for eating.
But the life in the mountain areas and in the country might be familiar with them. In Tokyo, even blueberry I buy is the imported item.

Have a nice evening, my dear dana ! I'm going to bed.
Kisses & Hugs ! from my baby sis & me !

  27. @dana.
I checked another site to be sure.
In Japan we use them in the flower arrangement.

    Good night.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Dana

Love all the pictures of elder berries! They look so beautiful, also the flowers!

I think in general berries look nice, and the colours are beautiful!

My grandmother was very good in making jam and all these preparations of fruits, like you use to do, Dana.

As I was very little, I was watching what she did! Long, long time ago!

She was very skilled! Elder berry jam was one of her specialities!

I have an other idea, do you prepare rose hip jam, Dana! Should also be very healthy! I remember my 2nd grandmother prefered it!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Ekaterina

    Good night, Ekaterina!

Yes, you are right, also here, in special flower shops they add little berries or the flowers of berries to make a special impression!

    Have sweet dreams, Ekaterina!

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Ekaterina

Yes, Giffy will find the best destination!:))

We have in our markets all kind of fruits and vegetable imported, but as I told you, I prefer the local ones, even if they don't look as good as the others, but they are tastier and healthier! I'm not talking about oranges, bananas, kiwi, mango etc.
I heard on the radio a producer who said that we export a lot of honey in Japan, bc it's a very good market!

Good night, my dear Ekaterina! Sleep well! Grrr!!!LOL

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Nicoletta

This time I'll not use glue, promise! LOL

You're right, elder flowers are very beautiful and they smell so nice!
My grandma (from my mom) was very good in making all kind of jam and "confiture" and I liked to stay by her side to watch her making jam, pies, cookies... She taught me to make elderberry jam! There are so many tastes and smells I remember from my childhood!:)

Sorry, I don't know what "rose hip" is!!! Do you mean rose petals??

Wish you a beautiful evening, my dear Nicoletta! Kisses!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Dana

Sorry Dana, I ment rose hips!

Wish you a very pleasant evening, dear Dana!

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Nicoletta

Haha! thanks for the link, now I know what you mean! No, I don't make rosehips jam, I buy it, it's easier!! :))
But we collect them and dry them to make tea in the winter, they have a lot of Vit.C.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @dana we make elder flower syrop out of

    10-12 elderblossoms
    3-4 lemons (in quaders)
a bucket of water (lol i think it is something about 5 liters)
    citric acid (as a powder)
and sugar but don´t ask me how much (i think about 1kg like yours)

then we let it stand over 24 hours and then you have to put it into some pots to boil it then you can fill it into bottles and drink!

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Dana

I had also the feeling, rose hips jam is rather an exotic one! HaHa

Preparing tea of it, looks nice, Dana!

    @Ekaterina

Congratulations to the Japanese women team!

They plaid amazingly against the Swedish team! And last week the won already against the German women!

Was real fun to watch the match yesterday! The rather small Japanese women are very quick and they seem technically very strong!

It is now the big question, how wins the World Championship?

    @Corinna

Some people drink elder berry juice as a kind of therapie. I think it is very healty,a lot of the drogists recommend it!

    @All

    Have a happy day!

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Nicoletta.
Thanks for your attention to them ! Nicolettchen !

We didn't even imagine that they won against Germany and Sweden.
The women's soccer is not so popular in Japan as the men's. But Nadeshiko (撫子)Japan is famous. Nadeshiko Japan is the nickname for our women's national team of soccer, while men's nickname is Samurai Japan. Nadeshiko is a name of the small pink flower of Dianthus and it is often just called as " pink " in English according to my dictionary on my desk.
    *pronunciation*
    NArcissus, DAy, SHIft, COmpany.
We think they will get the silver medal next Sunday, bc the American team is superior to us.
*the result so far against them*
    WIN --- zero
    LOST -- 23
    DRAW -- 3
The final game starts at around 3:30 in the morning on Monday here, so I can't sit up.
But it's the biggest topic here today and the extra edition of newspaper was issued in Japan.

Thanks again, my dear Nicoletta for taking notice of Nadeshiko Japan !

    Have a pleasant afternoon !
    Kisses & Hugs !

  38. @Corinna & Giffy I've been working like crazy. I've been rearranging my room & putting everything in totes, I gave Ella a hair cut(I'll post pics soon) & working on getting blankets made for my friends that are having babies. People are breeding like crazy around here. 6 or 7 of my friends are pregnant or just had a baby.

@Nicoletta & Dana It's good to be back!

@Ekaterina Ella May is doing well. She thinks she's bigger than she is. Her & Princess(my sisters dog) like to play together. I took her over to my friend Kellis' house last week & she played with her new puppy Piper & her dog Wesley. It was so cute. Piper is a little smaller than her & Wes is probably 5 times bigger than her.

Thanks for the link of the elder berry drink!

Maybe my brother in law can once buy it in Germany because my sister lifes right at the border to Germany (in Schaffhausen).

I have seen 10 min. of the Northcap trip, now I think it is finished, commercial and things for a loooong time!

Anyway, thanks Corinna! Always when I hear the word Northcap I definitely get shiny eyes! HaHa

In 1996 we were flying from Zurich to Helsinki, and from there we travelled by coach through parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway to reach the famous Northcap! It was a wonderful trip, the weather was excellent, exactly the way like Aksel said!

We had extremly nice warm weather for 10 days! Sunny, sunny, sunny! Was an amazing trip and of course the sight at the Northcap was beautiful, not one cloud in the sky! As I remember it was at the End of May, beginning of June, and we couldn't sleep a lot during the nights because of so much sun, so we sleept during the extremly long driving hours, like in the film. But we had a lot of amazing excursions and enjoyed Scandinavia at its best.

Love till now everything what has to do with the North! Maybe therefore I am here, as well as on ALS blog! LOL

Wish a very nice evening/day to all!

    Hugs & Kisses!

Bet your room looks great! I'm going to be in Columbus to pick up my Sister tonight.

@Corinna Have a great trip. Happy wind surfing. I am going to my reunion this weekend! It is supposed to be hot there so glad we are going to a water park.

@Dana Haha! Busty Heart. No, I've never heard of that and I am almost afraid to look it up. I will be thinking about the motorcycle trip and come up with something for next week. How do you feel about boat trips and summer cottages? Maybe Busty Heart can go overboard and use her bust as floatation device?

@Ekaterina I love the name of your soccer team, Pinks! That's wonderful! I wish them well. The US girls are doing well...I don't think soccer was invented yet when I was their age. Haha!

@Nicoletta I think we use rose hip for tea and for flower arrangements both. Glad you are feeling better finally. A year is a long time to cough.

so, she got " summer cut " ! My baby sis doesn't need it, bc she has short hairs, but I know it.

It may be Japanese English, but we generally call it " baby rush " or " baby boom ". However we have less babies year by year. In 2003 in Japan, the number of the dogs & cats, which are carefully kept by a family like my baby sis, exceeded the number of the kids throughout the nation. It has been our nation's problem for years.

It has been one of my favorite things to see various kinds of berries during my vacation in Germany. I sometimes think it's a kind of the sightseeing for Japanese tourists. ... ;-)))

What a beautiful name for your women football team, Nadeshiko-Pink!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for them!
Haha! You're very ingenious, I like your business idea about my pantry, but I'm afraid that I have to give to each visitor a jar of jam as a souvenir and in this case I'll have my pantry empty in a few days!! LOL
I remembered that I have to tell @Giffy that we treat our guests with dulceata, water and a coffee only when they come just for a short visit, otherwise we invite them for the lunch, dinner... we put on the table everything we have, to make them feel good in our house! LOL And who hasn't dulceata offer coffee, cookies, wine, palinca, beer, ice cream in summer hot days! :))

    @Mel
It's so nice that many of your friends have or will have kids! I think you have to make so many blankets for all of them!!!LOL
When do you move out with your friends in the new house?
I can't wait the pic of the new look of Ella-May! LOL

    @Nicoletta
I think The Doctor will take me out to ride the bike, the motorcycle, will drive me with his Audi, and we'll float on the sea with his boat!!! Hahaha! But every thing at the time, step by step!
But Giffy must find out that I can't swim!! So I hope she will take care of me! I might need mouth to mouth resuscitation! LMAO

Wish you all a beautiful weekend, beside your family, friends, pets! I just want a not so hot weather, but it seems I'll not be so lucky, the weather forecast warned us that we'll have a terrible hot next three days, about 37-40*C!!!! Pray for me, please! LOL

yes, that's right. If I were you, the same.
It seems we're both not good at business. ... :-)))

But the high grade of the best hospitality of Romanian pepole promises the success in tourism.

btw, I recognize you have the heat in summer. I have a question, dana, how much is difference between the highest temperature and the lowest temperature a day in Romania ? In Japan, for example, it's like the highest temperature 36℃ and the lowest temperature 30℃ a day in summer. It's not every day, but usually we have the lowest temperature over 25℃ and the highest temperature over 30℃ for about 50 days.

Then, dear dana, don't hurry ! ... ;-))) You can learn how to swim from the doctor. You are allowed the flutter kick hand in hand in the deep water.

It's been hot & hot here. I look forward to my vacation in Germany in August.

Have a pleasant ( if possible ... ) and healthy ( drink water ) weekend, my dear dana !
    Kisses & Hugs !

    ReplyDelete
  56. @dana.
Do you often have a watermelon ? It's my family custom to eat watermelon twice or 3 times a day during summer, bc it is said to be good for the hot season. Several kinds of melons might be OK, but watermelon is recommended. So in the fridge in my kitchen, there is always the cut watermelon ready to eat anytime during the season. I always buy the whole and make it ready to eat.

@all ladies here and travelling !
Hope you enjoy a beautiful summer weekend !
    Kisses & Hugs !

  57. @Ekaterina

My dear Ekaterina, the difference between the lowest and the highest temperature is almost like in Japan, the lowest is around 22-25*C and the highest around 35-37* or even more, especially in July and August. Not every day, of course. But these days more countries in this part of Europe have very high temperatures, till 40*C. We too! And the is very uncomfortable, we're melting!:)
I drink a lot of water and I try to stay inside as much as possible, you know the heat is not the best friend of my thyroid!:)

Ooooh, I'll be more than delighted if The Doctor will teach me to swim!LOL
I forgot to tell @Giffy that she sent me biking, but she didn't realized that I was wearing a dress in her novel so I need some sport shoes for biking, I can't wear high heel shoes riding my bike! LOL

We use to eat watermelon almost daily, is very refreshing and we like it very much, more than other kind of melons. But, again, I prefer to wait Romanian production of watermelons, bc the imported ones have no sugar, no taste. But now we can find Romanian watermelons in the market, so it's great!

Hope you and your little sister are fine and the heat doesn't harm you in any way! Take care of you both, my dear Ekaterina!
Wish you and your family a beautiful and not so hot weekend!
    Kisses & Hugs!

I worry that it's so tough to spend summer without the air-conditioner in Romania, dana, however it's the best not to have it and think about other ways to get the coolness. In Japan we have much longer summer than yours, so it is indispensable here. But I know it's getting hotter and hotter even in Europe in summer.
It was terribly hot in Germany in 2003 and I slept at night in CHANEL #5 in Bayreuth in early August that year. Of course it's the only one-time experience for me. ( believe me ! )
Please take care not to be melted, dana !

Do you have the imported watermelon !?
..... yes Europe is the continent.
We don't have the imported watermelon. As for fruits, the most of the tropical fruits is the imported items, but generally speaking other fruits is all domestic products except some seasonal items, like American cherry. We have the Japanese cherry, but it's a different kind.

Hope you enjoy YOUR watermelon on weekend, my dear dana ! and My baby sis and me hope you get some cool wind from the outside at night for a good sleep ! Wishing You, Tudor, your dad, zorro & Mishu have a less heat rest of this summer !

    LOVE !

Our summer begins in the end of May and ends in September most of the times. But we have the highest temperatures in July and August, sometimes even in June.
The hotels on the Black Sea seaside open at 1 May.
Now, when is very hot, we drink a lot of water, take many showers a day and eat cold watermelon and ice cream! LOL
    Hope I do not melt!:)))

We import all kind of fruits, not only the tropical ones! Strawberries from Spain, melons from Turkey, apples from Poland, tomatoes from Italy. All are bred almost artificial and have no flavor and taste. But they look much better than ours. I buy imported ones in the wintertime, but now I prefer our products.

Yes, by night I sleep with the window wide open, it's cooler and I feel the scent of lime blossoms in the neighborhood! It's magnificent!

Thank you, my dear Ekaterina! Hope you'll have a beautiful weekend too!
    Love!

Almost the same again, dana ! Our summer starts from late May and autumn comes in late September or in October, usually. And the highest temperature is concentrated on mostly in July & August.

It's so nice that you have plenty of orchard at your home and in your neighborhood ! To my regrest, we don't have it, and the outside air is still too warm at night and it's not practical to open the window to let the air in.
It seems Campina is better place than here to live !

Talking about the fruits, our strawberries, apples, melons, tomatoes are completely our own product with a short history. We learned how to cultivate those fruits and vegetables about 100 years ago from European and American people. And I remembered things about other fruits. We mostly import oranges and grapefruits, and some lemons from the CA, USA.
Grape is our own and import some from Chile in winter. Grape is also my favorite.

btw, do you have also imported meat in Romania ? We have our own product, but we also import the meat. Beef from the US & Australia. It's cheaper than our product and good taste. I think we're going to buy more imported foods, bc our government cannot control the contaminated foods after 3.11.

Have a restful evening, my dear dana. Good night !
