I think our boys are becoming models. Next thing you know they are going to be walking the runways of fashion week in New York.

  2. I went to see Dr. Shepard today for a second opinion. He was looking at my MRI & he thinks there might be a small tear in my rotator cuff. :-( So he is gonna go in & scrape some of my bone & inflamation out & fix the tear. I don't really want to have surgery, but I want this pain to go away. It's been almost 5 months. He said it was up to me to decide what to do. We could do more therapy & pain meds & I'll just have to deal with the pain or surgery which is a more permanent solution. I'll be 25 in less than 2 months & there is no way that I can live the next 60 or so years with my arm feeling like it's being ripped off. Hopefully Workers Comp approves it very soon because school start in a little less than a month.

I can't believe you have this terrible pain for five months!!! Poor you!
It's you decision, but I think the surgery is the best option! In a few weeks you'll be as new! And is a permanent solution!
I know it's a bit scary but you're a big girl! Keep the faith and do what is the best for you!
    We're here to support you!
    Love you, sweetie! Hugs!

  4. @mel i also think that the surgery is the best solution to fix it again not that the whole tension is going to rupture!

  12. @Corinna Since I said lawyer they have been sweet as pie to me. Don't forget Dr. Jack Shepard from Lost. ;-) LOL The pain is why I haven't been on much. It's frustrating to type one handed. I do get on & read what you all write. Off to finish my candy cane cookies, but first I need to get the kids to roll more balls for me. *sigh*

Yes, definitely ! He is a model, a super model.

Then, dear Mel, I checked " rotator cuff " in Wiki, bc I don't know anything about anatomy. I read it several times to understand your pain. As I haven't learnt medicine, I'm not sure if I can understand about it enough to be able to speak about it. But I've heard that it is not easy for all doctors to find a tear of tendon, muscle, any such a thing, if a tear is a minor one. So many patients have to wait to know what's trouble they really have. I remember you once talked about a possibility of surgery some weeks ago, and this time it comes again, and it means the second opinion is not different from the first one. And I think you met the good doctor, Dr.Shepard. Did you hear about the process after a surgery ? Mel ? The massive tears needs a longer period of rehabilitation, but a small or minor tears need only shorter period of it.
My opinion is the same as dana & corinna. The surgery is the best option. So, dear Mel, just talk with Dr.Shepard and ask him about all cncerns you have now, and try to make the best schedule for the surgery. I'm quite sure he helps you much.
And, though it's your blog, Mel, please do not feel you have to return comments to everyone, bc you are actually in trouble of shoulder and always so busy. We can read all text here and know your situation. So please drop a few lines when it's ppossible, and you can just read our several comments to you.
Take good care of yourself, my dear Mel. You've been suffering for 5 months and it's about the time to go ahead to the exit to your bright future which is waiting for you in your sight.

Hello my dear! How do you feel today? I hope you're fine, no more dizzy and with no pain!
    Take care of you!

Have a pleasant solstice day, Ekaterina!:-)) Hope to see you and the girls later!
    Hugs!

  15. Hi girls,
    Wish you a wonderful day!!

    @Ekaterina
Have a beautiful solstice day!! And please take still care of you. It seems that you are on a good way already.
I am so glad to hear that. The best of all is, that your baby sister is always cheering you up!

    @Mel
I was also trying to find out from what you might suffer with google. You do not believe it, this translation was a very funny start into the day!! Excuse me Mel, now I am serious again.

With 25 years you would manage any surgery and rehabilitation easily, I am sure. Doing the surgery is a definitve, and of course the quickest solution. You can do so.

I have also a tendency to be for the surgery too, because I by myself I am not such a patient person. After 5 months of not having a relief from pain, I understand your point of view.
But on the otherhand, there should be other possibilities too.

While quickly looking for other translations, I found just by chance this video. No idea if it is good or bad. Please look at it, Mel.

Your situtation at work is hilarious!! After all these troubles, they go in the knees because you use the word "lawyer". That's good. That is really very good. Congrats, Mel.

Have some beautiful pre-Christmas days Mel, and if you can, we love to read some words from you.

    Hugs!

  16. @dana. & @Nicoletta.
Thanks, my dear dana & my dear Nicoletta !
I'm almost fine now, and I think I'm lucky that about 2 weeks year-end-holiday started on Monday when I found I was sick as soon as I woke up.
I cancelled one party this afternoon and visited chiropractic instead. Do you remember Aksel's video of the preparation for Vancouver ? The physio has done the same thing to me ! although I don't have to prepare for WC....;-)))
I've just finished my " yuzuyu " after playing with my baby sister Ekaterina for about 1 hour. Yes ! cats' purring is so sweet and I also love their behavior of milking. When I first saw her doing milking, I was so upset just misunderstanding she missed her mom and ask her veterinarian about it. And I felt relieved to know that she didn't miss her mom, but she was milking when she felt contented and happy. Actually after playing with me, she starts milking and becomes sleepy and sleeps.

btw, how's your throat ? dana ? and are you not annoyed by cough? Nicoletta ? ...

Talking about " yuzuyu ", yuzu is one kind of citrus fruits as I explained in ALS, and pronunciation is that : " yu " is short *yu* and " zu " is *zo* in zoo, I mean it is also short sound. and the last " yu " in yuzuyu is the same sound of the first " yu " and it means warm water. And we never say oyuzu for this citrus fruits, but we say oyu when we speak about warm water. To pepare yuzuyu, you use 2 yuzu and cut it half and put them in a small sack made from cotton gauze so that yuzu will not be scattered in warm water in bathtub when you crush a sack to rub your body.
Autumn and especially winter are season of various kind of the citrus fruits in Japan. Some of them are for cooking and some of them for eating. Yuzu is only used for cooking and bath. Until lemon was introduced to Japan in the late 19th century, we've used such kinds of the citrus.
As for pumpkin, I don't think I always eat it on the winter solstice, but I never miss yuzuyu. A good fragrance of yuzu still remains on my skin now.
Do you have something special to do on the day of the winter solstice ?

Hope you have a romantic evening of the " darkest day "of the year ! my dear dana & my dear Nicoletta ! Hugs & kisses ! Good night.

I'm so happy you're fine and you can enjoy your year-end-holiday in a good health condition!
Oh, I remember Aksel's video about his preparation for Vancouver! Uuuhh! I hope your neck didn't make the same sound as Aksel's!!! It was terrible!! :-))

I didn't know about yuzu and yuzuyu but I checked and I found you also use it in your cuisine. I understand yuzuyu is good against colds, warm the body, and relax the mind.
Now I know there's are more versions of yuzu: an ornamental one called "hana yuzu", a sweet one called yuku and "shishi yuzu"-a variety of yuzu with knobby skin! Very interesting! Thank you, Ekaterina, for telling us about this Japanese costume of yuzuyu!

I told you I love cats purring! How old is your Ekaterina? Do you let her alone in the house when you go to work or out with your friends? Is she a good "girl" when she's alone? lol

    My throat is better, thanks!
Here we have no snow anymore! It's warm and it might rain! I don't like rain on Christmas!

Wish you and all the girls here a nice day/evening and as less stress as possible these days before Holidays! I'm stressed bc I still have a lot of things to do! LOL
    Hugs! Love you!

  18. @dana.
    ... crack ! crack !
yes, it's true. My neck made almost the same sound as Aksel's. But my " crack " sounded lighter than Aksel's. I think it depends on the weight, and I weigh less than half of Aksel. I also think I'd better tell you, dana, I didn't show V sign. ... bc I didn't know actually what happened, but I remember at least I thought " Isn't it the one in his video !? "

I'm glad to know your throat is better now, my dear dana. As you mentioned, during these busiest season, our immune system doesn't often work well due to the stress brought by so many things to do in the limited short period. So, please keep on taking good care of you !

Then, I'm so surprised that you are already much more familiar with yuzuyu than me !!!
dana, you're so smart as always ! and thanks very much for being intereted in our annual custom.

My baby sister Ekaterina is 7 years old now, dana. There seems several ways of conversion from cats' age to our age. According to some of them, she is older than us. But in Japan, we think cats and dogs remain just baby until the last moment. Of course we have to think about their health care with their veterinarian as they get old. Dogs' and cats' lifetime has become longer and longer for the recent years, and cats kept only inside live up to around 20 years in Tokyo now. And they remain baby even if they are 21 years old ! I think it may be our new tradition ...:-)))
Then, Ekaterina is a good girl when she is alone. I work in my music room in our house. I live with my dad and his house keeping woman. When I'm absent at home for longer hours, she takes care of her. I'm an only child for my parents, dear dana, and in Tokyo it's not so unusual for an only child, especially a girl child, to live with her parents even after marriage. And my late mother had not been very healthy since I was a little child, so our family has been living with a house keeping woman. So during my weeks-long summer vacation overseas my dad and his house keeping woman take care of my baby sister.

I wish it will not rain in Campina on Crhistmas, my dear dana ! Hugs & kisses. Good night.

    SORRY ! not Crhistmas ! ( how can I pronounce it ? ... ) Campina on Christmas ! without rain !

  20. Good evening girls!

    @ Ekaterina
    @ Dana

Glad to hear only good news about your health. That is very good!
My immune system seems also to recover, and I hope I will have a "healthy" winter now.
I felt really bad with this illness during the last couple of months, now I feel much better again. Thank god.

Weather in Zurich is like in Campina, much to warm (5-7 degrees plus) and no snow! But it will change tomorrow and on Saturday the predicted snow again. So the timing is very good, we can expect a white Christmas. Next week it will be very cold, on Monday it will be -14 until -6 and than it will be a bit less cold, and on Wednesday it will be again much warmer, around 6 degrees. Crazy unstable weather during the last weeks!!

The days are very short, I mean not many hours with day light and before Christmas the days are flying away.

Today, I was invited from my aunt. She is 85 years old and by good health. We had lunch in a nice restaurant with lovely Christmas decoration and spent the afternoon as well as the evening meal together.

My aunt is a nice and a open minded and and very witty person. She has also a cat. It is a male cat with the name Obelix. Obelix was the cat of her neighbour. Because he had no time to care about Obelix. My aunt did so and he is quite happy that my aunt has "adopted" the cat. Obelix is avery nice cat, not so young any more and has redish hair, he is a bit round around the belly - exactly like the real Obelix. LOL!

Have a pleasant day/evening and a good night with sweet dreams!

Happy to hear about your aunt, Nicolettchen !
She is so nice, and Obelix is a really happy cat !

I figure out it wonderful to talk with the aged lady like your aunt. To my regret, I don't have so many opportunities to do so. I think I have only one who is the same age as your aunt. She is my German friend's grandma in Berlin, and she is also my friend and we meet and spend some times together when I visit Berlin. So I can imagine how you enjoyed a lunch with your aunt !

Have a beautiful evening, my dear Nicoletta !
Kisses & Hugs. Good night !

    RE : ALS
The 8th sentense is just nice ! Nicolettchen !
But Shinnen Omedeto means " Happy New Year ", and " Merry Christmas " is almost the standard Japanese, and if you intend to say it, it is " Kurisumasu Omedeto " in Japanese.
    ... just a language tip ! ...

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

Ha, Ha, so I copied all these Merry Christmas wishes in several languages from a bit doubtful site!! Funny things happen ....

Wish you a peaceful weekend, Ekaterina, and Kurisumasu Omedeto to you!!

Vielen Dank ! und Frohliche Weihnachten, Nicole !

Ja, ... love THAT a bit doubtful site ! ;-)))!

Then, first let me please express my sympathy for Swiss about what happened in Swiss Embassy in Rome a few days ago. I knew it from TV news. Japanese embassy was closed on that day due to our national holiday of our Emperor's birthday.

The weather in Tokyo is also unstable, especially the temperature. The weather forecast says it'll be cold tomorrow with the temperature from +3 to +8. But it's relatively warmer than Europe, I think. The TV news said several airports in Europe have to be closed because of heavy snow. I hope Aksel will be able to arrive at Bormio in time for DH TRA on next Monday.

btw, generally speaking in Japan, December is the month of " Year-End what & what " more than Christmas. As you see my country is not the Christian nation and it is not the national holiday, though we also celebrate Christmas. " Year-End what & what " is our long time tradition as well as " New-Year what & what ".But these long time tradition has faded away by year and year, and I don't know much about it in fact. Then there are left only Year-End or New-Year *Party*Dinner*Lunch*Meeting*, and some special foods, meals, and New-Year-Greetings. The offices are closed from Dec.30 to Jan.03 . And January 01 is the most important and special day for all Japanese. And one of the most popular phrase used in Jan.01 is Shinnen Omedeto. I think that's why this phrase is shown in that site.

Hope you enjoy a beautiful weekend, my dear Nicoletta ! and with good health ! Hugs !
