These are the trees in my backyard. They came & trimmed them, but the one laying on the wires is still there! Dad is not happy about that. Me I'm just glad to have the power back.
YAY!!! I'm glad Kjetil got 2nd! I still would like to see 3 of the Vikings take 1st, 2nd & 3rd. I don't care which ones or what order. I just think it would be cool.
I'm very sad right now girls. I was watching The Tudors on Netflix & my computer shut off. :-( It was plugged in so I know it wasn't the battery. I'm talking to the people at Acer & hopefully they have good news for my baby. I don't think I can live without it!!! It's under warrenty so hopefully it's covered. :-( This is gonna suck for school work.
ReplyDeleteI have to send my computer to Texas to get fixed!!! :-( I hope it doesn't cost a lot of money to ship it there. I think it's just the power button having issues. Hopefully they can fix it without redoing my whole computer. *crosses fingers* The important things are saved to disk or memory card. Everything else I can re-install.
ReplyDelete@Mel.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow I'm glad to know you have the power back, Mel. But this time with your pc. ... sorry for that. It's so stressful, bc it's part of your life. I cross my fingers for you, Mel.
And I wish another snow storm would not come to you.
Have a nice new week, even if you're without pc, Mel !
@Mel
ReplyDeleteHopefully you get your computer back very soon, Mel. I understand that you need it for school!
That's good, that the power is back and you can use the whole bed without sharing.
Power, a warm and cosy house, a good sleep and a good working computer and TV.
These are all just simple and ordinary things, but I think, we are so much used to them and are indeed appreciating them - especially after missing them for a while!!
Weather in Zurich is extraordinary at the moment. Spring time pure!! The whole week is prognosed to be sunny and we have around 10 degrees!
Hope the snow condition in Garmisch is ok! Yes, seeing three Vikings on the podium would be hilarious!
Have a good week!
@Nicoletta.
ReplyDeleteReading the book on the history of Switzerland, I found many new things about it. And it's not only about the time before-during-after the WWII, but also the time before that. Japan is an island nation, as you see, so we escaped countless battles which all European nations had faced with. And history is often told by the side who had the power that time, so for many Japanese people, for example, Habsburg sounds only good image.
But I happily learned the Europen history in Uni, so I understand how the present nations were born. But actually there are not so many good books on this subject published in Japan, so many people don't know much about it. I think I'm lucky to read this book.
Although you and dana may not believe it, Japan does not have the Independant Day nor the Day of the Foundation. In fact, we have the Day of the Foundation, February 11, and it's our national holiday, but there is no evidence. When we opened our nation to the world in the late 19th century, we knew that all the countries we would get along with have the National Day, and our leaders in those days thought we had to have it, and made it. I don't know why February 11 was chosen, but at least for an uncertain reason. As a matter of fact, Japan is to have the 2671st year in this year of 2011. Everybody knows it's false, but nobody complains about it, bc we simply love the holiday. ... :-))) Then why the 2671st !? It is because our leaders in the 19th century sought the evidence in the mythology.
There is only one time in our history that we were ocuppied, but the period of the occupation was decided to be the shortest. It was some years after the WWII.
... continues ...
@Nicoletta.
ReplyDeleteI think I had better not post the text at one time, bc it might be a bit heavy for the capacity of my pc.
... continues ...
As our history is not so complicated as yours, many Japanese hesitate to learn the history of European nations, despite they love them. But as we're all interested in it, we have some knowledge of history in Europe, but partly. It's like we have several dots, but not all of the dots are connected to make lines, and unless 3 lines gather, we cannot make the facet. Due to our poor situation, many Japanese have the only good image on, for example, Habsburg.
It's been fun to meet you, Nicoletta, and dana here and have an opportunity to learn your countries, as well as grow the friendship.
Have a nice new week, Nicolettchen ! Hugs !
@dana.
ReplyDeleteFirst I tried to post like @Nicoletta. & @dana. , but I started writing about the book on Switzerland, so I decided to write just @Nicoletta. But I'm sure you read the text, and know the contents are also for you.
There I still cannot find the good book on the history of Romania. There are some about the revolution in 1989, but not for the long history. But as long as I learned in Uni, Romania has the great potential and I think it true. It doesn't matter it's OMV and not your leaders to invest to the wintersports. ... ;-))), bc your country has overwhelmed your leaders and they still cannot decide which one to start. Just wait for a while. and I think the financial recovery and the stability in the former Western nations would be helpful to make it advance. But if we are not reliable enough, I think it's OK for you to promote, bc I say it again, you have the great potential.
Hope you have a peceful new week, my dear dana ! Hugs !
@Ekaterina
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind and warmhearted words, Ekaterina.
It is also my great pleasure to have met you, because I had never in my life virtuel friends!!
I appreciate very much, that you Ekaterina and also Dana are so keen to discuss about whatever and have certainly a good and broad background about many themes.
Glad to hear you take your time to read again in the book about Switzerland and General Guisan.
I understand, that your history is totally different to the European history and you are right, the Europeans were all the time fighting somewere in Europe, and I presume also at many other places in the World, for example America, etc.! Thank good the boarders are set now in Europe and there is peace!
Have a cosy evening and enjoy the amazing history book, dear Ekaterina!
Have a great week! Hugs!
@Ekaterina & Nicoletta It will take 7-10 business days. It's not that long, but still it's gonna suck! Not all my Aksel pics are saved, but I'm sure I can find them again. We do depend on electronics too much. They have made our lives so much easier & it's hard to live without them. The lady I talked to from Acer was really nice & helpful. I'm figuring that something went wrong with the power button. Hopefully it's covered under the warrenty & if not hopefully it won't cost that much to fix.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend we hosted a big SuperBowl party (US football). I cooked up a lot of food, chili, chicken wings, Italian sub, chips, dips, and brownies. I don't have a team I watch but I love to watch the Advertisements. Companies spend millions of $ on expensive tv ads. There was a good one for Chrysler with Eminem, Imported from Detroit.
ReplyDeleteI want to know what multitasking KJ was able to do while sitting in the shower? Curious minds want to know? Certainly not shaving or moisterizing...or hair care.
@Dana Glad you had a nice weekend and were able to hang clothes outside! What a blessing that would be. How about Franz Ferdinand, No You Girls?
@Giffy I think we all know what he was doing. ;-) LOL Besides he knows we are gonna let our dirty little minds wander. I think they enjoy torturing us with just enough info to get us thinking.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody see the letters to Santa on fisalpine.com? Aksel wants the best winter ever & Julia wants Aksel wrapped up in a present. Oh & Cuche wants lots of gifts & Carlo wants a new car. LOL

@All, especially @Giffy:

@Mel.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, Mel !
Santa was very kind to Julia. She got it unwrapped. ... :-))) and how about Aksel ? ... It depends on Garmisch, I think. ...
Hope you have a peaceful day with the power, dear Mel ! Hugs !
Hey Ladies!
ReplyDeleteHope all is well! :D
@Nicole.
ReplyDeleteThanks ! Nicole ! and I hope you're well and fine, too !
@dana.
ReplyDeleteYou are right , dana. The weather is treacherous. It's winter again in Tokyo. ... :-)))
In this morning, it snowed. Although it was only for 10 minutes, the snow flake were not small. and now after the noon, the sun came and it's sunny and lovely now. But brrrr. ... ;-)))
The very dry weather has continued in Tokyo. It's a life with the static electricity. Let me introduce a funny daily experience to you, dana. When my baby sister and I try to kiss each other,the first comes the static electricity, and then we kiss.
The first day she joined my family in January, 2004, she couldn't understand the static electricity, and she slapped my hand with her very tiny pretty hand. But it didn't take a long for her to understand it, and she does not mind at all now. I think my baby sis is a really " Tokyo Girl ". ... :-)))))
It's nice you and Nicoletta enjoy the warm days. I think Aksel is in the mountains and I suppose the temperature there is much colder than in the city where he played soccer in T-shirt. I hope he finds Piste very friendly with him today.
On Thursday I'm in the concert, the next day on Friday I'm again in the concert, and on Saturday I'm in the opera. So I'll miss his 3 runs live including TRA which I also like to check. I think I'm happy that I'm not his girl. ...:-)))!!! As for WM, it is broadcasted in Japan by the satelite TV, NHK-BS. I'm not sure if it's live, anyhow today's Super-G broadcast starts 5 hours later than the actual start, so it starts at 00:00 midnight, and it's one-hour program. very much looking forward to it !
My dear dana, hope you enjoy a beautiful spring day in Campina ! Hugs ! ( hope it without a static electricity ... ! )
@Ekaterina
ReplyDeleteMy dear Ekaterina, like Nicoletta said, it's the first time in my life when I have virtual friends! And I'm very happy I've met you all! I've learned a lot from you and the girls and it's great we can talk about so many things!
I agree with Nicoletta, the Europeans were all the time fighting, though not all of us are warrior nations. As I learned at school, we rarely attacked our neighbors, we mostly defended our land, religion, language and beliefs!
If you are interested, you may check this link, though I know is not much:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Romania
We have a very warm day here, the sky is deep blue and I even saw some flies today! LOL But the weather forecast said we'll have the winter back at the end of the week.
I'm glad you'll have some busy days, with concerts and opera! I know you love them! A few days ago I listened to some beautiful music that I think you've heard, bc it's played by a Japanese piano player: Ryuichi Sakamoto! One of the songs I listened is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btyhpyJTyXg&feature=related
Very beautiful music! It makes me feel so good, calm and detached!
About the static electricity, you gave me a good laugh! Bc of your sweet little sister and bc I have this "problem", especially in the winter time, when my skin become dryer than in the warm seasons. And sometimes I "pinch" anyone gets too close to me or I "pinch" myself when I dress or when I take my clothes off! LOL It happens the same if I shake up a blanket or some other textile fabrics. But sometimes really hurts! :-)))
Wish you wonderful days, my dear Ekaterina! And enjoy the concerts and the opera! Hope the weather will be gentle to you! Kisses and hugs!
Hello! Just wanted to pop in quick to say hi!
ReplyDeleteI am on my way to sunny FL for a few days so don't think I've forgotten you. I will check back in soon. I don't have a laptop so I'm going computer free vacation. Which is better than topless! LOL!
@Nicole Welcome back you've been missed! How's school? Were you snowed in your dorm last week?
@Mel Hope you get your laptop back soon!
@Ekaterina Did you get the UPS shipment of 8 squirrels I sent you?
@Nicoletta I really liked the ads, that is always my favorite part.
@Dana I'll see what I can do about the wedding preperations. Pick out some good music for the reception...Say hi! to AM for me. We miss her.
@Corinna What's up? How many days until new car?
Hope you all have a good week and that ALS and the Attacking Vikings all ski well in these next events!
When I checked last night my computer was in Illinois. I would check it again, but I don't have my paperwork. :-( I really miss my laptop. I have to get on my dad's computers to do my homework. I have to get on his laptop to use Microsoft word & then I have to get on his desktop to send my work to my teachers. It sucks majorly! I hope everyone is having a great week so far.
ReplyDelete@Dana
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the Wiki info about Romania, Dana.
I went quickly trough the article and I must say, your country was not always treated very well. So many influences, kingdoms and dictators. Almost everybody took obviously advantages out from your country and people had to suffer. That is very said.
Hope it will be quiet for the next 1000 years in Romania, that people can organize everything without having a permanent pressure from somebody. I wish sincerely good luck to Romania!!
It is funny, Dana, knowing a little bit about your kitchen, it is possible to imagine who was ruleing in your country. Don't take me to serious, Dana, but that is at least a very good heritage you have got from them!!
Wish you a great evening, dear Dana!
Hugs & Kisses!!
Hello Ladies!
ReplyDelete@Giffy I was only snowed/iced in for one day. But we had to brave it for the rest. I only fell once though :)
I'm doing well. School is boring and going slowly! But it's not too bad! lol
I'll get through! I just can't wait for break next month!!!! :D
The girl who read my paper for college comp is from the Ukraine. She was very worried about her paper, but it's written very well. i don't think she trusted me 100% & went to ask the teacher. Now back to class.
ReplyDelete@Nicoletta
ReplyDeleteThank you so much my dear friend! I hope we'll be able to organize everything, but for this we need some good and capable leaders! First of all we have to eradicate corruption! Then we'll see! LOL
Hope we'll be inspired by very well developed countries like yours! We need models, we need to learn from those that succeeded!
Haha! I like your funny note about our cuisine! I think we deserved at least some delicious food from all of them that ruled us!
We learned at school that during our troubled history there were just two neighbors that never attacked us: those who lived on ex-Yugoslavia territory and the Black Sea!
It's amazing we kept our Latinity despite all those Slavs, Turkish, Hungarian or God knows what, that occupied temporary our country! We still are a Latin island in an Slav ocean! And it says we kept intact a big part of old Latin language especially bc we were "isolated" from the rest of other European Latin countries!
Have a pleasant evening, my dear Nicoletta!
Kisses and hugs!
@Nicole
ReplyDeleteHi my beautiful Young'un! I'm so happy to see you here! I'm glad you're fine, but I don't get why your school is still boring? I remember your first semester was pretty busy! I think you miss math classes! LOL
Wish you all the best and to have fun with your band mates! Love you! Te iubesc si te pup!
@Giffy
have a nice travel to FL, I guess you go to your mom, so please, give her my best regards and hugs!
I ask you once more to be gentle to Pete!! LOL
I'll wait for you to pick some good music together! Haha! I already miss you, Sis!
Love you!
hi girls!
ReplyDelete@giffy when everything work out 2 weeks and when i have to wait 5 weeks!
@mel i be so sorry about your laptop! i know how it is when you don´t have it for one or two days then i think i go to be crazy with out it!
