Happy 4th of July!!!

In honor of America's birthday I think it's time to pull this video out. I love Red Skelton. It's very sad that this has actually happened. *tears up* I remember the teachers telling us in elementary school that we could no longer say The Pledge of Allegiance because people said that it's a prayer. They did bring it back a few years ago. My brothers & sisters now say it every morning in school.

@Brenda in Hawaii LOOKOUT GIRL! He's coming your way!!!!! ;)

Thank you ladies for all of your birthday wishes, I had a bit too much to drink last night and woke up today feeling just fine, and that is rare at 40! Being a cougar isn't all that bad! ;) BTW, I just saw a piece on "The Today Show" about a "Cougar Convention" LOL!

It's a hot one here today, its supposed to be close to 100 degrees w/ high humidity until Friday :( I will be floating in the pool today relaxing since today is the "official" observance of Independence Day and my office is closed. :)

    Have a great day chicas!

Cougar Convention? What was it about? it sounds like a invation of cougars! ;-)

so who´s having time this week? i will be stuck at home till friday... no work! Don´t know if i should be happy or sad.

  9. Hello Ladies!!! How are you??? ;D

    @Kristen Cougar convention??? Interesting! ;D

@Teekanne Hope you're feeling better! I've got time all this week! ;D ...band starts up next week so I'll be doing some work then! Yay, five hours a day out in the sun, marching! :/ It pays off in the end!

@Mel To be honest, I never understood why we had to say the Pledge constantly. I mean, I am Puerto Rican and I am American. I do feel that way, but at the same time, I view Puerto Rico as my first home. And I know many people at school who's first home is not the United States, so to be obligated to stand and say the pledge every morning felt offensive. Yes, I stood, but I didn't say the pledge. Though I do live here, and love it here very much, I don't think it's right to be viewed as "non-American" if I choose not to say the pledge. And saying it so often makes it lose its meaning, it just becomes so mechanical to say those words, and the meaning loses its resonance.
...well, that was just personal opinion! No offense meant by it! ;D

  10. @Kristen Took a look at that website! To be honest, it's a lot of fun to joke around about being Cougars...but sometimes, and using those pictures as examples, it just looks ridiculous! There are women who take it so far, it amazes me! Like women who try to dress and look like their daughters, or date their daughter's friends, or tattoo themselves and get body piercings just to look "younger" :O It's a shock to me! But none of you ladies are like that! You're classy Cougars! ;P LOL ...why do I feel like I'm so critical today? ;P LOL

    ReplyDelete
  11. @kristen: thx. very interesting... these woman seem to me like they feel they missed sth in the last 30 years of their life and now have to catch up. sorry but that´s ridiculous! ;-)

    @nicole: good to hear! :-)
since writing is the best communication these days for me it´s good to know somebody is there! :-)
marching in the sun? sounds like a funny job! ;-)

It´s very interesting about the pledge and i think it shows a bit the americans since you always show you´re proud of the country.
since my cousin goes to a school with an international programm and she has to do the pledge too this is kind of strange. they still insist on the pledge. i cannot understand that.
in germany pupil had to say or still say the Our Father every morning before school and mostly there are cruxifixes in school rooms. since germany is a country with free religion i
can understand that people complain about that.

  12. @Nicole & Teekanne This is the whole reason the term "cougar" is made fun of...those of us on here who are cougars are classy and cool would never act like this, I agree, this whole convention thing and way of acting is ridiculous!

@Teekanne I forgot to tell you, yesterday at the party my cousin had on his Deutschland shirt, he is ready for the big game!

    ReplyDelete
  13. @teekanne I think it's great to show pride for any country! But to subject, or force, others to it doesn't feel right! :/ We had to say the pledge and have a moment of silence every morning and we had to play the anthem before any school sports events....it just felt like too much :/

    @Kristen I agree!!!

  14. good evening girls?

    how is everyone?

    ReplyDelete
  18. @nicole i´m fine. just a little bit tired, it´s way to hot for me. but just a rainfall starts. so you surfing the web? i prefer saving a wave! lmao

    ReplyDelete
  19. @corinna LOL Yep! I'm bored so I've been looking at things on different websites that I might need for my dorm next year! ;D
Not too hot here...well, if you're in the shade it's okay! ;D

  20. @kristen: tell your cousin: good choice! :-)

i planned to go to holland on saturday for some shopping. at least a friend wants to shop and i need coffee which is much cheaper over there. i think i will wear my shirt! :-)

@nicole: hmm.. i don´t know. for me as german who were not allowed to be proud of my country for several years and always wanted to live as "free and proud" as the americans.
about 4 years ago before the world Cup 2006 you coudn´t imagine seeing a flag on the street or sing the national anthem sitting at home in front of the television.
and i kind of like it that every american knows the national anthem and the pledge even though the reason (force) isn´t a good one.
but at least you know these basic idea of your country which i have to admit isn´t common in the other countries.

i wonder if it would be enough to teach it in school once a lifetime?!

@corinna: hey there! :-) how are you?

    ReplyDelete
  21. @teekanne hi girl how are you? i´m fine. i enjoy my italy weekend and you know what i don´t have to pack out my bag! just the things who need to be washed ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. @corinna: haha.. so you will go there again next weekend?
what about the head guy? any appointment planed this week?

i´m doing ok. just stuck at home for the whole week! :-(

    ReplyDelete
  23. @teekanne When you put it like that, it makes a little more sense... it'd be nice if a balance could be found somehow! ;D The idea that many Americans know the anthem and the pledge is nice. It's a good mentality to have pride for your own country...but I think there is still much work to be done in regards to appreciating other countries as well! There are still too many people here that are way too close-minded for me!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @teekanne i´m going again in two weeks.from 16.07. to 18.07.
no news from the head panty guy:( but maybe tomorrow.

so you still ill? hope you getting better soon

    ReplyDelete
  25. @nicole and teekanne i agree with you both, there must be need a mixture of both. maybe once a week will be enough. i think everyone should be proud of the nation they lives.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @corinna Head guy will definitely make an appointment! I honestly think he liked you! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  27. @nicole: that´s true.. the country should adapt the change of the people and think about those who don´t feel like 100% american and need to say this pledge. it kind of feels like "discrimination".
close-minded... that´s how the world goes reigned by old fashioned ppl.
i wonder what happened if kids would roule the world for 1 week... you know decide about equality and solidarity...

    ReplyDelete
  28. @corinna: lucky you! ;-) so what about that guy who was there once? was he there again?

hopefully the guy show up this week... do you plan do go out on saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  29. @nicole let´s see what happen this week

@teekanne that would be hilarious when kids would rule the world for one week

    ReplyDelete
  30. @teekanne That would be a really interesting project! That's one of the things I love about kids! You watch them interact with each other, and you can see those who have been exposed to different cultures, and then you see those who have been taught that only a certain way of life is "proper" But I definitely think that kids are paving the way, and changing the way in which older generations view the world! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  31. @teekanne no that guy wasn´t down there. mh no not going out on saturday, first i thouhgt i will go out on friday for dinner with my ex but he has maybe a date ;)
so i think i stay at home and some friends of my parents are coming and then they go to the "landesgartenshow in rosenheim" on sunday i joy them to go to the "gewürzausstellung vom schubeck"

    ReplyDelete
  32. @nicole: at least i hope so. since they are kind of our future too... :-)

    @corinna:
uhhhh a date? so he maybe finds somebody who pick him up late at night when he´s drunken! ;-)
sounds like... ehmm.. fun! haha.. ok i think it´s not what i´m up for.. "landesgartenshow" i never was at one i think. is it worth it? should i try it once? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @nicole: did you read what CRs babys name should be?

    ReplyDelete
  34. @teekanne i don´t was there too. but it is in our main city. they have build everything up. make the streets new and so on. but i don´t want to go there too. but the "gewürzausstellung" must be great, i had heard so many good things about it. they explain everything about spicys.

i hope he find someone so he don´t call me again in the middle of the night

    ReplyDelete
  35. @teekanne No, I haven't heard! There's not much news about CR over here!

    ReplyDelete
  36. @nicole so you go to watch germany vs spain? for who are you cheer?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @corinna That's so tough!!! I really like both the teams! :/ I don't know! I think it will be an incredibly tough game! ........

    ReplyDelete
  38. @nicole i hope the right one will win

    ReplyDelete
  39. @corinna: ok i think the spice thing might be really interesting but the enterence fee might be to high for that!

@nicole: it´s pretty easy.. the same like cr himself! ;-) i first believe that when i saw a pic... maybe somebody hacked his FB account or whatever.. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. @corinna I think it will be incredibly tough...I just like the teams so much! But I think that Germany has been having a better winning streak during this WC...but I think that Spain definitely has the potential to stir things up! So it's really tough to choose!

    ReplyDelete
  41. @corinna, nicole: i think that if germany shot an early goal the game will be clear for germany.. otherwise it might be close and tough.
but spain didn´t convinced me at the wc for being the best team!

i know who i will cheer for! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  42. @teekanne the spicy thing is for free, only when you want a guide to show you aroung you have pay 10 € i think.

haha i also know for whom are you cheering.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @teekanne Maybe this baby will change CR...make him a little more humble and grounded! That would be nice to see! I just hope that he does his best to care for this baby...he has plenty of money and a family to help him...but hopefully, he takes the time to raise the boy himself! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  44. @corinna: ah ok. then i would try it i think

@nicole: change? hmm... complaining more for getting red cards for being at home for his babyboy? i would like that! ;-)

    we will see..

ok i´m off.. have to go to the doc tomorrow at 8!
see you in the afternoon or evening for the 1st game!

    ReplyDelete
  45. @teekanne good night and sweet dreams hope you will better soon and have a great night *hugs*

    ReplyDelete
  46. @teekanne Good luck at the doctor tomorrow! Feel better soon please!!! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  47. @teekanne But I think it would be nice if CR changed for the better for his son!
...this all reminds me of when Ricky Martin had his two sons via surrogate! Those boys are absolutely adorable and Ricky has been doing a great job raising them on his own! Maybe he can give CR some pointers! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  48. girls i´m off too. need some sleep

hope everyone have a nice evening/night
    *hugs and kisses*

  51. Well I guess I'm a closed minded person. I'm not just American though. I'm Irish, Scottish, English, Welsh, Norwegian, Netherlander, German & Swiss, but this is my country. This is where I live, work & play. This is the country that my ancestors came to for freedom, for a better life for themselves & their children. This is the country that my family has given their lives for, as have countless other families. This is the country where you can dream as big as you want & it can come true. Yeah we have flaws, but find me a country that doesn't. Most of us may have lost what the American dream is all about, but some of us still know what it is. Inorder to appreciate other countries you need to appreciate your own country. You have to have pride in your country. Even though your country is going down the tubes, but hey it's your country, your home.

@Nicole It's people that think like you that made most of the school systems take The Pledge of Allegiance out of the morning announcements. Yes it's great that you are proud of your Puerto Rican roots. Every single person that comes here to be a citizen has to learn The Pledge of Allegiance & The Star-Spangled Banner in order to become a citizen of this great nation. It's not forced. It's something to be proud of not something that you feel obligated to do. You do it because you love your country. The reason that we say The Pledge of Allegiance & play/sing The Star-Spangled Banner before sports events is so that everyone can remember that we are all the same, to give us pride & love for our country. It's not a bit much.
