Better Late Than Never...

Aksel: I got a new watch!!
Guy: What do you mean this isn't his watch?
Aksel: *sing song voice* I got a new watch. I got a new watch.
Guy: Oh, it's my watch?
Aksel: Nope, it's my watch.

Sorry the look on his face is just too funny. And sorry I've been MIA. Lots of stuff going down in my life. I've had 5 people I care about in & out of the hospital, people at work nit picking on me, & the end of the semester is coming up & the lessons are getting a little confusing. My brain feels like mush right now, but I haven't forgotten about my girls. Just smack me on Facebook & tell me to post a new blog. LOL

  4. tonight we was out for dinner with my dad

and my little niece and nephew was also with us!

my little niece was nearly the whole time sitting on my legs!
and she managed it that a table with 8 guys was always looking at her and me ( i knew 3 of that guys, from school time long long time ago)
they was sitting in front of the play room for the kids and when i was going with the little sweetheart to that, all guys was watching us!

when we came back the little one was going with my mom to watch for a desert (i have to say we was in a all you can eat chinese restaurant with a buffet and a grill where you can say what you want to eat and with what kind of sauce and vegetables and meat from kangorou to shark to "strauß" to crocodile and normal lamp and beef)
i thought i know one of this guys bc of my brother and so i asked him if he knows him and as far as he was sitting with his back to them he was turning around and said which one do you mean! and he moved his thorax to have a better look at this guy! i asked him if he can´t to this a bit more inconspicuous but my brother only said when i should see him to know if i know him i have to look at him!

    i just say big brothers!

The weather here is also very unstable, after a week of wonderful Spring temperatures we are going back to Winter. I presume on Easter we will have rather unfriendly weather. Grrr...

Hope your shoulder is better by now.

By the way, as I was reading about Julia switching to Head, I was thinking of your reading.
My compliments again to you, Mel, it was an excellent reading!!

  11. @Nicoletta My shoulder is feeling better. I have my good days & I have my bad days. Weather all around the world has been messed up lately! I hope Mother Nature works herself out so we can get back to normal. I do try my best at readings. It's a little hard when you don't have the person/people in front of you.

Can imagine your shoulder feels better some days than the others. Eventually also the fast changing weather has an influence.

Weather situation is crazy, more stability would be great. :)
Yesterday we had rain in combination with lots of loud thunder as well as blizzards. Was quite frightening and does not suit to the lovely Spring nature.

You are a talented reader Mel!

    @All ladies !

I'm just back home from TWMU.
The surgery was successful, but it took 16 hours with 7,000 cc bleeding.
So I was so exhausted and still tired now. I can walk by myself for a short distance now. I think it will take weeks to recover.

But I'm OK, but tired now.

I think I'll check all in this blog later and post more later, too.

Thank you so much for crossing fingers for me, my dear friends, I think that's why I am survived.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ekaterina i´ll be happy that you be at home again! and that you can walk!
maybe when you feel not so tired later or in some days, you can give us some more reports about the surgery! but 16 hours is a long time!

how is the feeling now with your "new" back!

16 hours sounds pretty much, I know it wasn't easy at all, but I'm happy for you! You're a brave and strong girl and you'll recover soon!

Take good care of yourself, rest as much as you need, listen to the Dr Shiba's orders and you'll be as new soon!!

I send you all my love, kisses and hugs and I'll wait you to tell us more when you'll feel good enough for this.

    @All ladies

Again, thank you very very much for crossing fingers for me and thinking of me. Also, thanks for my BD wishes.

Now I settle at home, so let me report about the surgery.
The surgery started at 08:20 in March 29th and was completed at midnight. Then I spent almost one day in the ICU and then I was taken back to my room in TWMU. My memory started from the moment I was back in my room.
The reason the surgery needed such long hours is the bleeding. But Dr. Shiba and his team got ready whatever happened, bc the bone surgery, especially skoliosis is usually accompanied with the much bleeding and TWMU got ready the special ICU for me.
But I was terribly surprised to know the long hours and much bleeding of 7,000 cc later in my room.

But my condition during the long-hour surgery was quite stable and the stability remains until I left TWMU this morning, and it's the same now.

... sorry, I'll report you the continued tomorrow, bc I'm a bit sleepy.

    LOVE !

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ekaterina about the bleeding that is also a lot! but thanks god, they was able to hanlde all out!

i be curious about the fixation of the bones! how much and how it is now with movement!

and will you get a rehabilition?

but i can wait till you answer my question! first thing is that you can sleep a lot! and feel not anymore so tired soon!

    THANK YOU !!!

    ... continued ...
After I was taken to my room in TWMU, I think I had only one trouble, that is, I could not eat and drink for a few days. It is the side-effect of the Vollnarkose, as the surgery was the long-hour one.

I was allowed to stand up from the bed in April 4th. But it was a life on the wheel chair. In April 7th, I started to wear the medical corset and I was also allowed to walk with the walker, though I was still very weak. In April 11th, I first stood up by myself, but still needed the walker. In April 18th, I first walked by myself for a short distance. And I was back home yesterday, April 21st.

As I mentioned several times, the surgery was quite successful.
I AM ABOUT 5-6 cm TALLER AFTER THE SURGERY !!!

During the stay in TWMU, I was annoyed with a slight fever of 37 all the time. So I spent laying on the bed most of the time, bc I felt very exhausted. It is the normal thing that the patient has the slight fever after the surgery, especially the patient like me who also had the bone transplant. My back has been fixed with both the titanium and my own bones from the hip.

The thing I'm struggling with now is the medical corset which is very big & heavy. It covers from my shoulder down to my hip. I have to put it on 24 hours except the shower time in the morning and evening. It makes me really really exhausted, so I sometimes have a bed rest for several times a day, however every rest is just about 10 - 15 minutes.

The one more thing I'm struggling right now is how to get used to the new balance of my body. My body, especially the muscle became very weak after the surgery and the absolute bed life for a week, also the total life in the hospital. I started to take the rehabilitation from April 11th. Only 30 minutes every day. But 30 minutes was just enough for me. I learned how to move after I'm back home and I also learned how to meet the new balance.

    I think that's the update.
My " new " back is great and I'm trying to keep up with it by strengthening my whole body.

Now I feel I had better have a short bed rest.

    Have a great Sunday !
Kisses & Hugs ! Loving you all !!!

  26. @Ekaterina
Thank you for your medical report, very interesting, I've never heard about a surgery like yours before. I can imagine what you've been passing through,it's not easy al all so no wonder that you feel weak.
But 5-6 cm taller!! Wow! Sounds great!

I know you have a lot to do till you'll feel as new again, but you're strong enough to make it. I know you are very disciplined and you'll do everything it needs to get your body in a good shape.

Wish you a beautiful Sunday, my dear Ekaterina!!
    LOve you!

  27. @ekaterina i be happy that you can be at home again!
i think for your first steps by yourself you had something like this to help you walking or?

    http://www.bad-pflegesysteme.de/gehwagen.html

    http://www.proaktivo.de/images/product_images/info_images/gehwagen_mit_achselstuetzen.jpg

and the korsett is looking like that

    http://www.uniklinik-duesseldorf.de/fileadmin/Datenpool/einrichtungen/orthopaedische_klinik_id35/bilder/korsett_1.jpg

the fever and that you can´t eat and drink after the surgery is normal!
bc your body as first to get back to normal after such a long surgery and you get a lot of "narkosemittel" to sleep for such a long time and you also will had get during the surgery some antiboticas

5-6cm taller wow! that is a lot!

have you heard about "grundspannung nach brunkow" or "grundspannung nach brügger"?
that is also something for rehab!

so what kind of rehab are you doing?

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Ekaterina

Thank you very much for your interesting report, Ekaterina!

I am deeply impressed about your information that you are now 5-6 cm taller! Can imagine the way back to the normal life will take some time and you certainly will have a lot of work. Be confident Ekaterina, the biggest part you have already managed!

Wish you an agreeable evening and enjoy to be together with your dad and the baby sister
    Send you my love, Ekaterina!

    @Nicoletta

    Thanks !
The Gehwagen I used in TWMU was almost the same as the first link.
And the corset is nearly the same, but mine has 6 stops ( 2 for shoulders & 4 for the body ),so my corset is longer than the link.

As for the rehabilitation, I took only 8 times ( 8 days, I mean ) during my stay in the hospital. I think I once mentioned there are not so many physiotherapist in Japan, so the patients must graduate from it at once.
But it seems my ability is quite normal and it seems enough to have only 8 times. It seems the best for me right now is to do the normal things with the big & heavy corset looking at the mirror to fix the balance. But honestly speaking, I think it would be the best to take the rehabilitation regularly for at least some weeks.

btw, I think I was so so stupid. I could not imagine the real life in the hospital. I was not allow to take the shower every day. So I had to take my " Advanced Night Repair Concentrate " back home with me without using it. I start it from tomorrow !

I could not sleep well at night in the hospital. I think it is due to the bed. The bed in the hospital consists of 3 mattress to make the bed up & down, and such structure cannot support my body with the heavy corset. But my bed at home has only one big mattress and it is easy to support my body with the corset, so I can sleep without any trouble even if I wear the hard corset.

Thank you again for the many warm words which help me gain the power again !

    Loving you so much !

    ReplyDelete
  30. @ekaterin what do you mean with the bed in the hospital consists of 3 mattress?

well here in germany you normally have 3-5 weeks of rehabilitation and that takes nearly the whole day, you get massage, mt, fango, mtt (which means training on machines like in a fitness center), water gym and "rückenschule"

yes you told us once before that the physiotherapists are real less in japan!
i think this is well i don´t know what to say about it!
i mean especially after such a surgery you need some treatments to get well soon!
and to learn how to use your new back

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Ekaterina
I'm thinking of you and there's a song popping into my head: David Guetta-Titanium
    "
    I'm bulletproof,
    nothing to lose fire away,
    fire away ricochet,
you take your aim fire away,
fire away you shoot me down,
    but I won't fall
    I am titanium
    you shoot me down,
    but I won't fall
    I am titanium"....lol

    Kisses & hugs!
    Love you!!

The bed in Japanese hospital is different from ours at home. It has to be up like a chair with a foot rest, that's why it needs 3 mattresses to move like that. I know lots of patients need such a device. Of course it is flat unless we switch it on to move up & down, but 3-mattress structure bed is not strong enough to support the body with a big & heave corset. On the other hand, our beds at home has only one big mattress and it is much easier to support the full body of me with an " armor ". ... yes, the corset is like an armor for me. ... :-(((

It is really regretful that we have much less physiotherapists in Japan. It's one of our poor reality of my country. But we have to manage to do it with what we have. I learnt some tip during my very short term of rehabilitation in TWMU, mainly the muscle training. But first of all, I have to keep on wearing the corset for 3 months after the surgery to stop various movement which can be harmful for the aftermath of the surgery. So I think I can start some training like the gym after I put the corset off. So at the present, I'm trying to strengthen my leg muscle to keep my body stable. But due to one-week absolute bed rest after the surgery and next two-weeks hospitalization, my legs became very thin and weak. I think it takes some weeks, and I do hope it will be soon to become strong again.
I learnt several ways of the muscle training from the physiotherapists in TWMU, but it seems still too early to start all, bc first I think I have to get used to the normal life at home. Staying in the hospital is quite life, but the normal life is much more " wild ". ... ;-)))

    @dana

Thanks for the nice lyric !
Yes, I'm very proud of being the titanium lady. But in my case, it is not only the titanium. Dr. Shiba transplanted some of my own bones to collaborate with the titanium. !!!

In the hospital, I decided not to have a bed rest after I'm back home, bc I've never had a best rest except sleep at night. But actually I find I'm still weak and still need it. It is very stressful for me. I wouldn't think I can explain it well, but it is something I feel guilty to spoil me to have a bed rest at day time.

    @All ladies

Have a wonderful new week ! Anybody has some travel plan ?

I can imagine that the period you spent in the hospital was pretty tough for you and it's understendable. I'm glad you're home now and you feel good, comfortable, happy... well, as much as it's possible with that heavy corset...

Tell me how was the meeting with your sweet little Ekaterina, I guess she missed you so much all that period.

Take care of yourself! And don't forget that we're waiting for you on Facebook! lol

Wish you all a beautiful, sunny week!

  34. @dana

YES ! My sweet baby sister has missed me so much, and vice versa.
Fortunately the live-in house keeping woman has taken care of her very nicely during my absence. She is a woman whom I ask to work for my family during my holiday in Germany. I wouldn't like to let my baby sis stay in the vet during my absence, bc she loves " her " house. I think my dad can take care of her, but he doesn't stay at home all day long, and my loving baby sis is not used to spend alone at home. She needs someone whom I admit reliable to take care of her at home during my absence. It's not actually easy, bc the house keeping woman demands much, but my baby sis Ekaterina is the most important part of my life, so I have done and I will do anything I think the best for her.

Ekaterina is amazing, dear dana. She looks as if she knows what happened to me. After coming back home, I can not move as before I could, due to the pain and the weaker muscle, but she looks she understands the situation. Of course, she runs to me " saying " touch me, comb me and everything, and I do everything for her in spite of the pain with smile, but after some minutes she says she will be back to her bed ( a basket with the soft blanket )and sleeps. Normally a cat sleeps very long hours daily, so I think it's normal. But I really thank her to help me by doing this.

As for the FB, I never forget about it. I'll join you later when I feel much better and can do lots of things as before.

My condition seems better little by little every day. Until yesterday, I couldn't even blow my nose, bc my whole body muscle became very weak, but I could do it some hours ago. sorry for non-elegant example. I hope I can manage to shorten my bed rest times little by little. As a matter of fact, it is still hard for me to go out. I was so stupid and too optimistic about the surgery. I thought I go to the hair dresser one day after I'm back from the hospital. But I knew it's impossible when I was back home last Saturday. My spirit is perfect and can think and make lots of plans, but my body speaks it's still too early to do these.
    I feel I'm now a little bit wiser. ... ;-)))

    Thanks again, dear dana !
    Have a pleasant week !
    Loving you, always.

    @Nicoletta

At last I tried it ! Today is the 1st day of the 21-day-program.

Oh my dear Ekaterina, going to the hairdresser is much different!!:)))))))

I can imagine that in the hospital it was not so pleasant for you, more like a place to leave as soon as you can.

So I understand you had not the possibility to do also things for the beauty like with the Advanced Night Repair at the same time. Hope you can now enjoy the success!!

It must be real sweet for you to be back at home, soon you will feel better and better. Finally with a big portion of patience you will feel back to normal, Ekaterina!

The fragrance of EL is different from that on CD. I think it's a bit stronger, but I like it ! 5-6 cm taller with more beautiful skin is promised. ... :-)))

I hope I have a big portion of patience, bc as corinna says, it needs lots of time to build my weaker muscle up again. The next appointment with " the God Hand " Dr.Shiba is May 7th.

Hope you enjoy beautiful Zurich, dear Nicoletta. The season will be better and better to walk around.

    LOVE !

    @corinna

It's similar, but a bit different. The mattress in Japanese hospital is 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 , so it's not practical for our body. I suppose the one in your link looks much comfortable.

I started a little muscle exercise this morning. Stamp the floor 70 times at one time. I think I'll do it 3-set a day. Why 70 times ? ... I feel it is not much and not less. I think I'll do it 100 times at one time in a few days. I try to make my knee up as possible as I can. What do you think about it ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Ekaterina

Love your information about your daily exercises, I really can imagine how you do it!

Forgive me a little, tiny smile, Ekaterina! Hope you enjoy every movement and the daily return of more strength and stronger muscles!

Glad you like the treatment with the Night Repair Concentrate and hope very much you will have a great result. I have got a very dry skin over Winter, especially my throat because of the scarfs and the "Rollkragenpullover"so I am also using the N.R. concentrate, unfortunately I do not see so much success this year. Perhaps it is because I did not sleep so good the last weeks. Today I went back to the bed at 4.00 and said to me: Sleep it is only for my beauty!!:))))))

You mentioned something about traveling. Yes, we have booked holidays!! We go to Chiemsee, Germany, at the 20th of May for 5 days and make some excursions from there, one to Salzburg and another one to Berchtesgaden. We stay in the same hotel during our stage, I love it already!
