Sunshine & A Burger

He looks comfy.
Now that is what I call a burger. I don't know about you, but I now want a great burger.

  1. @Mel Thanks for changing the photo! ALS needs to turn over, he must be burnt on front. KJ does make a burger look good. Did you notice the next day he was eating cottage cheese, grapes, and cinnamon? I was just reading that Wendy's has changed their hamburger for the first time in 42 years. Their HQ is in Dublin, OH on the west side of Columbus. I grew up in Marysville and we had to drive to the Orthodontist in Columbus and we would get Wendy's years ago. Even if our teeth hurt. I do like the new sea salt fries but haven't tried the new burger. How's school?

@Dana Perfect that your Harley Guy actually manages a dealership. When you have a break in your canning/pickling action you promised to tell us the long story of how you first met. I'll wait patiently but I am curious...

@Corinna What are you cooking today?

@Ekaterina Are you still wearing super cool biz?

All ladies have a wonderful day. Kisses and Hugs.

    ReplyDelete
  2. @Giffy.
I still wear the sleeveless, however it's not the super cool biz. But I feel the super cool biz was not enough for us this summer, bc it was dreadfully hot.

btw, we had a heavy typhoon today. All the transportation in Tokyo was suspended for hours when I was going to the concert hall. I tried to take a taxi, but in vain. So I gave it up. Actually I could not walk normally in the street due to the heavy wind. ( sigh )
It's peaceful in Tokyo now. The typhoon is now reaching Fukushima, and then to the pacific Ocean. But no worry about the AKW.

Hope you enjoy the lovely autumn, my dear Giffy !

  3. @Ekaterina I just read about the typhoon and wondered if you were affected. Sorry you had to miss your concert. Hopefully all the bad weather is passed, and you can enjoy a beautiful autumn too my dear Ekaterina. What fragrance do you use in the bath for the fall?

    ReplyDelete
  4. @Giffy.
Thank you, Giffy, for thinking of us !!!

My favorite fragrance for the bath in the fall is the floral scent. But I'll use the mint tonight, bc it's still hot. However I suppose today will be the last day for us to have over 30°C this year. and I do hope so. ... ;-)))

Isn't it sometimes cold even in September in Michigan ? right ? But I'm sure the air is very fresh there, Giffy ! Hope you enjoy it !

  5. i have first to apologize me for my followign blog entry!

but to be honest, i be on some kind real angry ( i think angry is not the right word more i be disappointed with him) with asl! what does he think who he is? holiday again? till everyone else of the norway team make dryland training! and also all the other teams are in the hot part of the training and he is in florida on the beach?! wth is going on in his brain?
Does he think he need no training bc he has the "lovepower" with him?
i know i have no right to say this, but he should really think about where he wants to set priority! on training and skiing or in love!

i know love is some important thing in life! but you should have a partner who is support you in that what you want to do in the best way he/she can, but it seems like jm is just distract him from training and so he isnt in a better condition like the other ones!
even she should know how important training is!
ok ok even vacation is important but not 4 weeks before the first worldcup race, when every other team/racer is concentrate already to the new season!
and we don´t have to talk about that he as deserved vacation but after a season and not short before the new one is starting! ok even during the season he should take some days off to reset the energy! but 4 weeks before the new season?! i be so shocked!

i have once to apologize my post! but i was really needed to say this now!
hope no one is feeling attack by my post!

  6. @corinna.
I understand what you mean, corinna. But I think a little bit differently.

I think ALS stays in Florida just for a few days to avoid the set of the long flight, and he also needs a little more rest which he didn't have in Portillo due to the journalist obligation, although I think it was his fault, bc he should have managed his schedule in Portillo. Do you remember my post in ALS saying he is fond of talking. It was my ironic joke, corinna. ... ;-)))

I often think about the relationship between ALS & JM, though it's none of my business. .. :-)) I think they both gain the synergistic effect each other so far. But I must say it's OK only while it keeps the good balance. I think it also needs some energy to keep balance and this energy must be saved as minimun as possible, bc the top priority is not always the same as the private love life.

I might be too conservative, so please do not get me wrong, bc Japan is conservative country.
At least in Japan, during the camp of the national team of any sports, the athletes share a room only with the teammate. So I was a bit surprised to know by KJ blog what was going on in Portillo. ... ;-)))

But ALS is not teens, so I don't mind about it so much. But again, let me say, I understand what you mean, corinna.

  7. @Giffy What?!?!? Wendy's changed their burgers?!?!?! I'll have to check it out one day for lunch.

@Corinna & Ekaterina I kinda agree with both of you. It is odd that he decided to take a holiday now. You both bring up good points. Maybe he did want to take a break from the long flight or maybe he wanted to spend some more alone time with Jules. We will never know for sure. I think he should be training...

    Back to class...

  8. Happy first day of fall and my brother's birthday!

@all I was surprised to see him on the beach, and was thinking that he won't sit still for long. He can rest now, but before you know it he'll be up and moving. He likes to be active. So even though it looks to us like he's been laying in the sun for a week, that's just the photo on his blog. Haha! Have you guys seen the George Clooney commerical he references on Twitter? So funny! I'd like to try to live in Lillestrom. But don't know if I could take the winter, it's hard enough in Michigan.

It's the weekend. Party! We should all have drinks with lil umbrellas in them...

    ReplyDelete
  9. @Ekaterina Thanks for asking about our weather. Yesterday was beautiful, perfect, but I think it will rain for the weekend. The colors of the leaves are changing and the air is crisp. This time of year we like to drink apple cider and eat pumpkin anything, pie, cake, donuts. Hope you have good weather this weekend! My dear Ekaterina, do you ever take your baby sis outside shopping or does she just stay in your house and garden?

    ReplyDelete
  10. @Mel.
so, you're very busy with class, Mel, but I'm pleased to hear from you !

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Giffy.
How do you enjoy your brother's BD party ? Giffy ?

btw, I've not seen GC commercial, but winter there seems too severe for me, too. ... ;-))) But I know it's so beautiful.

and we've not had a crisp autumn day yet, either. Maybe in October hopefully.

btw(2), I've heard Japanese started to eat apples after WWII. During the occupation period, lots of US military men stayed in Japan, and they liked to eat apples. Now I understood all American people likes apples !

Nowadays, we cultivate our original species of apples and the most famous and popular among those is " Fuji " So my family order carton of apples to the reputed apple farm in Nagano. The harvest of Fuji comes late autumn. It's so sweet ! Talking about sweet, I bought " Sweet Scarlet " a few days ago. It's from CA. It's so sweet, too ! ( grape )

And my baby sis only stays in the house. The vet recommends us to do so. On the other hand, 3 cats, Barbara, Patric, and Paulo come to our garden almost every day. They are so called the district cats. They live in our neighborhood. Drinking water and foods for them are always available. I sometimes feel they misunderstand my house is a restaurant. ... ;-)))

  12. @All ladies !
    Have a nice weekend !
    LOVE !

  13. @Giffy I went to Wendy's & oh the new cheeseburgers are good. It was so juicey!

@Ekaterina yup very busy with school & trying to get baby blankets done.

So today in Effective Speaking we had to give a speech about who has inspired us. I was torn between my Grandpa & ALS. I picked ALS because I didn't want to cry. So I told them about how he got hurt in 07 & came back the next year & won both events. He's out living his dreams & that inspired me to follow mine.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @all i hope you all don´t get me wrong about my post yesterday!

well @ekaterina here it is the same normally the athletes shares the rooms with the teammates and not with girlfriends or wifes!

sometimes it seems that he want a so called "extra wurst" which means something special, bc he is together with jm!

and about the reporters, kjetil gave also some interviews and he didn´t take some break on florida beach! he also trained in new zealand and portillo and he also get the time difference btw the differents states where they were! so i don´t get it, why only askel was on the beach in florida and none of the rest of the team!

but today he is already in trondheim, for some testing so the world is back in balance ;)

about jm, that is not my kind of business and i be real happy about this! not more to say about it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. @mel that is great!

oh btw bc of this i was disappoineted of him!

bc he is a rolemodel, a good rolemodel, bc of his bad injury in 2007 and is fight back to the top and the overall winning 2009 only short after the bad injury and that give the young kids some inspirations, to never give up their dreams and to fight for it, even when it is so hard and they have maybe to cry, give up some sparetime and have muscles hurtings and so on! bc it is good to fight for your dreams! and that shows aksel!

but now, for me, it seems like he lost some of his passion feeling, some of his fire inside for his sport! i don´t know why but sometimes i have this feeling!

don´t get me wrong, he has this light moments when you see how much fun he has with his "job" and in his "office"! and when he has this great shiny smiling and you see that he is in his element! but sometimes he seems so sad!

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Mel Glad you liked the burgers, I will have to try one. I was reading about it online and thought it looked good. No mustard now I guess?

@Ekaterina I completely forgot about apples. They are so much a part of our lives that I eat one a day. My sons will only eat green or Granny Smith apples, and my dear H will eat only red, but I will eat any and all cooked or raw. Love apples. I was thinking baby Sis only stayed indoors but then I wasn't sure. Tell her there was a story on our news that a cat escaped in Colorado out an open front door. Luckily the owners put a owners microchip under her skin and now five years later the cat was found in NYC and returned to the family. Imagine the adventures that cat could tell in 5 years? Baby Sis could probably tell a good story like that!

@Corinna I know what you mean. It's different now isn't it, less joy? So true. We all love you Corinna. No worries. You're supposed to be able to say what you want here of all places, free to share your feelings. But I sometimes wonder who else is reading this blog. Who are the people listed in the traffic feed?

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Ekaterina I forgot to tell you. My brother, who works for Honda America, lives 3 hours from me so I won't celebrate at dinner with him. He is going to a Japanese steak house for his bday where they cook on the open grill in front of you. What do you call that in Japanese? We all love it for our birthday dinner but it is rather expensive here in the US so it's definitely for a special occasion.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @giffy i had a great laugh today! i wrote that yesterday about why he not train and today that post about the "windkanal"! like he heard me! lmao

i also think about who else is reading this blog!

but i think we never will know it!

wish your brother also a happy bday!

    @all have a great evening

oh and @giffy i don´t go out this weekend i just stay at home and relax, i be so tired after this week of working!
    i worked yesterday so much
i left my home at 7:10am and came home at 8:15pm! and the other rest of the week was also real busy!

    ReplyDelete
  19. @corinna.
I suppose Aksel eats " extra wurst " by not his own will. He is thrown into the sports business.
and I often feel the same way as you, corinna. ALS has had less passion & fire than before.

I sometimes figure out the best place for him in Beaver Creek in 08, which one year after that accident, was the 2nd or the 3rd place. I think winning that race was too dramatic to digest for not only himself but also the media and business people.

I think ALS sometimes misses the time when he was a kid when he only loved skiing. A kind of nostalgia. I've read about many athletes saying the best thing for the career is to keep the same feeling when you were kids when you had a dream.

But, anyhow, it seems OK. ALS is back !

  20. @Giffy.
    *Apple Talk Time * ... ;-)))
We have red, green, and yellow apples, but most of them are red ones. So I eat only rea ones, as your H.
The harvest time of apples and the typhoon season are overlapped in Japan, so the apples which didn't fall from the trees against typhoon are often sold at high price.

A guest comes, see you later !

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Giffy.
I'm back. so sorry for abrupt suspension, dear Giffy !

Those apples are bought by the family who has the student who will take an entrance examination of University, Senior High school, Junior High school, Elementary school, and even kindergarten. In Japanese we say " fall " which means " fail " to pass the entrance exam, so the apples which didn't fall from the tree during Typhoon, those apples look lucky.

... continues ... to other topic.

  22. @all so from today on you can call me "shopaholic"

i make my taxes today and i just get together how much i spend for my sportclothes for work!

what do you think had i paid for it?

    a, 987,89 €
    b, 1484,86 €
    c, 1567,89 €

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Giffy.
sorry for my bad English. ... ;-)))

yes, I know this cat. and I remember another cat who travelled from the US to Germany. I don't remember the name of the cities, but that is, the cat lived in the town near the port in the US. One day, she made an adventure in the ship staying in the port, and the ship departed for Germany. and nobody noticed her. When the ship arrived in the port in Germany, she started travelling in Germany. and nobody noticed her. But one day, one German saw the skinny cat wondering, and looked her necklace and found the tel number was written. Then he made a phone call to the number. That number was her vet's tel number. Her vet and her family has been looking for her in the US, but of course they could not find her, bc she was in Germany. ... ;-)))
It was a big news, and the airline, the North West or the United, I'm not sure, but they proposed to have her on board back to the US. She got the window side seat of the business class accompanied by the airline staff.

But, dear Giffy, I wouldn't like my baby sis to make such an adventure. ...

And, " cook on the grill in front of you " is called Teppanyaki in Japanese. Teppan means a sheet of iron which used as a hot plate, and Yaki means grill. The Japanese restaurant in Berlin I once talked about is also Teppanyaki. It's rather expensive in Berlin and in Tokyo, too. I think it is because they use the meat and fish of the very high quality.

btw, your brother works for Honda America ? sounds great, Giffy ! You worked for Honda, too, didn't you ?
I've heard Honda started the manufacture of the small busuness jet for the US customer. Does he talk anything about it?

a, something like a wet suit you wear for the wind surfing.

    b, Spandex ( upper )
    c, Spandex ( bottom )

    ReplyDelete
  25. @corinna.
    *My second guess*
a, underwear for the ski suits
b, a wet suit for the wind surfing
    c, ski suits ( not 100% Spandex )

dear corinna, I go to bed to sleep now. I'm looking forward to check it when I got up tomorrow !

  26. Hello my dear friends, I am back to Switzerland!

It was a great holiday, and the weather was fine! Last night I went quickly through your comments, and I certainly like to give you a little report about my holidays later on.

    Just very quick:

    @Giffy

Do never mind about speaking about biking and about Steve. We saw so many bikers in groups on our travel and it is such an excellent way to travel!

Steve comes for me after General Guisan and maybe after Willhelm Tell, he is kind of monumental singer and he will always be! I am only smiling hearing his name.

    @All

Yesterday we came back over the old road over the Gotthard and the Axenstrasse, beautiful view of the Gotthard mountain area, and afterwards great view on the beautiful lakes of Switzerland, called Vierwaldstättersee, Zugersee, Laurenzersee!

It was Switzerland like in a tourismn book, fun pure and relaxing to come home like this.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Corinna

Did you buy a new dress for skiing?

You are perfectly right, ALS changed quite a lot in my opinion.

He does not like anymore to have a great dialogue with his fans on the blog, etc. and I have often difficulities to answer in an intelligent way to his posts.

I have the idea it has become more or less become a burden to him to keep up with blog, twitter and fb.

The other said aspect is that he seems to be a loner in his team, I do not feel they have a spectacular team spirtit anymore.

    @Ekaterina

    Heard about the typhoon too!

Glad you are fine, dear Ekaterina!

    @Dana

Wonderful to hear your Norwegain biker did write some lines to you.

Hope for you he does more write to you it in the future!

    @All

Have a great day, see you later!

  28. @nicoletta & ekaterina no i didn´t buy one special thing for that money! i spend that money the whole last year (i mean 2010) for all my sport clothes together! i had to make my taxes for 2010 and since i can deposed from tax my sports gear as a professional clothing i do so!
i spend 1484,86 € the last year only for t-shirts, sport trousers, three pairs of great sport shoes! and so on!
my mom was a bit shocked when she get know how much money i spend for sport clothes!

@nicoletta great to hear that you had a great holiday! and a great way home! i can only imagine that wonderful view over the mountains with the lakes down there!

i only can agree about that team spirit! i have the same feeling about this!

i wonder just way he changed so lot! and i find it very sad that this worked out so!

    @all have a great weekend!

  29. @Nicoletta.
Welcome back home and here, my dear Nicolettchen !!!

I'm already excited to read about the way back through the beautiful Swiss landscape, Nicolettchen. and I feel I cannot wait for the whole report, however I can wait until you settle at your home after unpacking. ... ;-)))

yes, Steve Lee had and has the voice of special spirit. He's eternal. October 5 comes soon. .....
He's eternal like General Guisan, and Wilhelm Tel ! We normally call him William Tel. In Japan the episode of an apple is so famous. I think I can say, in Japan, it's as famous as Newton's apple. ... :-)))

btw, Giffy and I enjoy the talk about an apple. ... ;-)))

Did you also hear about the heavy typhoon on last Monday ? Thanks for thinking of me, Nicoletta. I was almost blown away in the street when I tried to take a taxi, which was in vain.

Now, hope you have a good rest. I'm very much looking forward to reading your report on your great vacation ! Nicolettchen !

    ReplyDelete
  30. @corinna.
    Sorry ! I was misunderstanding !
and b is the correct answer. ans I can understand it. You're a sporting girl, dear corinna, so I think 1484.86 Euro is within the normal total amount of payment for the sport clothes including shoes of one year, bc you need them to do sports safely.

    btw, though I don't have a habbit to look into it, what is a & c for ? ... ;-)))

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Nicoletta & @corinna.
The personal sponsorship also makes the situation change, I think. very difficult, bc ALS often has to spend more time with other people than his teammates. But I think they understand the situation ALS has been in for the recent years. Anyhow, the athlete is lonely. More famous and more good results, much more lonesome. But the great athlete let the lonesome bring him the good result. and I hope ALS will do it. ... ;-))) Am I too optimistic ? ... ;-)))

  33. Hello my ladies, have already unpacked my things and sorted out the laundry for tomorrow.

My partner is in the office, so I have time to
write a bit on the computer.

    @Corinna

Aha, you spent a lot for the sport clothes. I think it is ok, because nice sporting gear has a good price!

Had a little laugh because of your possibility to put the costs on your tax formula!

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Ekaterina

Watched the news at BBC news on television during my vacation, to be correct, first I was most interested to know about the typhoon in Japan, second it was about Mr. Grubel and the UBS regarding the terrible debakel (what a shame!!!)

Then I watched the preperation of the visit of the pope in Germany, and oh yes, I heard interesting news about the Octoberfest in Munich!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Now I like to tell you about my holidays:

The first day was a very looooong day!

We started at 7.30 p.m. in Zurich with only 8 degrees, in our warm clothes and thank god, it was not raining any more!

The weather cleared up as we passed Lucerne and the Vierwaldstättersee, and we had already a great weather as we passed the Italian speaking part of Switzerland "the Ticino" or as we say in Swiss German, the Tessin.

By the way, Steve Lee and his band are from the Ticino. Steve moved from the German speaking part of Switzerland as he was around 10 years old.

There also we had a great view on the Luganersee, that is a beautiful lake in the Ticino, Locarno, Lugano are very famous for tourists, because it is mild, sunny and very beautiful there!

Afterwards we passed through pitoresques little villages in the mountains of the Ticino, and enjoyed the nature which is very different.

We had a smooth travel through the Gotthard tunnel (a bit quicker to travel as the old road, but not so spectacular) passed Italy, afterwards France until we reached finally Toulon.

We wanted to go on the Ferry at 7.00 p.m. and hoped to have a smooth travel.

Than we realized that Toulon has very bad and very windy weather, so the ferry was delayed.

We waited and waited and around 8.00 our driver Markus sent us out to get a nice dinner in Toulon.

We saw the big crowds in the restaurant along the sea and walked a bit through the stormy weather, because we liked it more quiet.

So we went in a Chinese restaurant and met nice people from Toulon. The ladies told us more about the Mistral which was disturbing the ferry.

The Mistral is a strong cold wind, which brings bad weather. The mistral can rule for some days and influences also the weather in Corsica and Sardegna too.

The ferry could not arrive in time, because of to many waves on the sea. In fact the ferry had 4 hours delay.

The Chinese meal was real great and very cheap!
The atmosphere was great and very different. LOL

Finally we had to return to our bus and learnt that the ferry is not yet here, nobody knew when she comes and if we can cross over to Corsica.

We had to sit again for approx. 1 hour in the bus and were joking, if we get invited to a nice hotel with a SPA area to spend the night and possibly the next day - HaHa, or if Markus sends us again out to catch the breakfast somewhere.

So arround 12.00 p.m. we could enter the ferry, the ferry was shaking quite a bit, and the stuarts on the boat were very nice to us!

But no idea about waking up and the arrival of the ferry!

Around 13.00 we felt a sleep, the ferry was still shaking, and the climatisation was horribly loud as well as the noise of the ferrry. So we had a bad and very short night, went up very early because we wanted not arrive still wearing our pijamas. LOL

So we had a little breakfast at 7.00 in the morning and were still waiting and waiting to arrive around 9.20 or so.

It was my first time to get a real bad weather on a ship or ferry, but the whole group managed it with fun.

The good news were that the Mistral stopped after 1 day, the bad news, we missed our excursion in Corsica because of lack of time.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Corsica is nice, wild and romantic, a lot of rocks and very beautiful isolated bays to go for a swimm.

The tourism is not so posh, I mean it looks quite pleasant, and there are lots of quiet villages to discover.

It would be worth to come back again, and also to see all the museeum and places from Napoleon the I. who comes from Corsica!

As I was a tennie, I was totally addicted to Generale Napoleone. Perhaps you have also read the great novel Désirée written by Annemarie Selinko?

Now, I need a break, an apple will be great!

See you later, my ladies with the next days of my holiday!

Have a great Sunday, Sunday afternoon and evening, or even a good sleep during the night!

    Love you!

    ReplyDelete
  37. @nicoletta oh i would get ill on a shaking ship! how do we call it "seekrank" i think it is the right word, do you had problems bc of the bed weather and the shaking of the ship?

i can´t wait to hear about the next part of your travel!

haha i first also didn´t knew that i be possible to get my sportclothes into my tax but i be able, bc i be a phyisotherapist and we wear sportstuff at working clothes! so this is possible for me!

@ekaterina it was a question! with a, b and c as answer, but only one was right!

sorry for my bad english!i know sometimes i write a bit difficult!

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Corinna

The shakeing on the ferry was crazy!

I went up at 5.30 a.m. and I did not take a shower because I was afraid to hit my head.

Then I decided to be a strong girl and washed my self with lots of acrobatic moves!! All on one leg! LOL

As I know, nobody got sea sick because they took medicaments (twice or more!)

But we were a bit annoyed because of the bad information, all would be happy of 1 or two hours of longer sleep!

You can imagine, I was quite a bit fed up about ferries in general, the ferry from Toulon to Corsica was not so amazing!

But one thing I can say in advance, the ferry from Sardegna to Livorno (Italy) was quite different.
More comfort and most important, the sea was very quiet.

We took our dinner in the self service because we had all the time great dinners, and were not in the mood to dress up.

The Italians on the ferry gave a funny atmosphere and it was fun to watch the families eating lots of fried fish, spaghetti, etc, also watching the good looking men and females because they have fancy clothes and know how to move.

A special thing was the music on the ferry, it was kind of discrete piano music!

To our astonnishment we got waked up by the same music in our rooms, and so we fininised our dressing with piano music.

The taking of a shower in the quiet sea was a piece of cake and so we were lucky to leave the boat exactly at 07.00 after having the usual breakfast.

    Good night everyone!

  39. @Corinna Sorry I missed the sport clothes/taxes discussion. I think its great you can claim your clothes on your taxes, very smart. I thought it was interesting the way you write your numbers we would write 148,486. I wonder why that is? I would have guessed the most money, but I've already read the answer. You work very hard, you deserve a nice weekend rest. Do you still like your boss?

@Nicoletta I am enjoying reading your travel log very much. Can't wait to read the next chapter. Bet you were glad to get off the ferry, but I'm sorry you missed your excursion. Loved the comments about people watching the Italian tourists, and of course the food. My sisters and I always remember out vacations based on the food we ate.

@Ekaterina What a funny cat to stow-away on a plane and land in Germany. I can't believe they gave the cat a flight in business class. They could have kept the cat up in the galley. That might have been more fun! Yes, I worked at Honda in the motorcycle factory in my hometown before I got married, and my brother works in the car factory. I enjoyed it very much. It's actually a good thing I quit because my brother really needed a job and we couldn't both work there. They wouldn't hire siblings.

I'm eating an apple even as I type. Wish I could translate the vimeo on the other blog. Especially the end...

  40. @Ekaterina So only the smart apples can stay on the tree after the typhoon? Those are the sort of apples you pay more money for? That is fascinating! We have Fuji apples they are very popular in all our grocery stores. I have eaten a yellow Japanese pear that looks like an apple shape and is sold with a white mesh sort of net around it. Delicious! :)

  42. Finally we catched again the ferry!!! to get from Corsica to Sardegna. LOL

But don't worry, it was a very smooth travel of only 1 hour.

The most important person of our holidays was Petrus who looked for good weather during our stage!

At Sardegna it was very sunny, always a bit windy, and as longer we stood warmer but agreable 28-30 degrees.

We lived for three days in a beautiful hotel in Cannigione and enjoyed the atmoshpehre and the breakfast and dinners which were extraordinairy.

Markus who was driveing and also making the guide at the beginning and the end of the travel was supported by a guide who lives for 13 years in Sardegnia.

His name is Klaus and he comes from Southern part of Germany. He looked exactly the way like we expected Corinna's surf instructor would look like. LOL

Kind of mixture between Ted Ligety and Bode Miller, only a bit short.

He told us a lot of funny stories about people of Sardegna and tourist and how the beginning of tourism started, etc.

The funny thing was, he came always with his bike, after a daily morning ride of 30-40 kilometers. He is married and has twins of 13 years and has a very outgoing personality!

He showed us all this beautiful places like the exclusive places and beaches at Costa Smeralda. We visited the Maddalen Ilands and learnt how extreme the prices for villas are. People like Putin and the Saudis are there. Some Russians had to give up their houses because of the financial crises and so now the Chinese and the Indians step in to buy the houses for twice the price, Klaus told us!

The most impressionate was the landscape between the touristic places, they are very beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sardegna has lots of bushes, and you feel in the mountains, with interesting rock formations, wild, and you are very often totally alone.

Some parts are very flat and it is rather dry. There you see practically only sheeps! LOL

Sardegna was and is a very poor country, I mean the working Sardegnian people do not earn much. Because of the weather situation, the main season ist only from middle June until August. So then the prices are very very high!

The beaches of Costa Smeralda were discovered from Aga Khan in around 1964 and he made the place very famous until now. You can compare the place with St. Moritz, etc.

Imagine in the sexties they had everywhere the Malaria, and the place had to get dry first, now no problem with that, as you imagine! LOL

Foreign people have very often huge yachting boats and you can almost smell the very rich. Obviously it is very much in to own an appartment or a house there.

Believe me, I meant the very, very super rich!

By the way, Princess Diana had her last night at Olbia before she took her flight to Paris! The room of the hotel is now a very special one and booked for ages by a Saudian princess!

It was nice to go there, but Sardegna is not my very favorite destination to be.

Me and my partner enjoyed the Gotthard area, the Swiss lakes and the Ticino much more, and that was a real funny experience!

By the way, Ticino looks in a way like Garda and the lake of Garda in the South Tirol, I noticed some similarities.

If you are interested, please google pictures Ticino and you can see how it is!

Also the region around the Comersee is similar and very beautiful!

Today I made the laundry and spent some time listening to Steve Lee on you tube.

I stopped it for several weeks and was listening todifferent music.

Still a great guy and great songs in my opinon.

Hope you are all fine and enjoy a happy day or/and a relaxing night.

    Love you!

I really would like to ask the expert, what do you think Corinna??

I think it is very great your parents owe an appartment at Garda. HaHa

    ReplyDelete
  47. @nicoletta yes it looks real similary to me too! i like both places, i be a mountain girl so i like this kind of places real much!

i like you travel report, sounds like you had a great time! and i had a big laugh about your guide klaus!
and the sardegna sounds great! the farest down to italy i ever was, was neapel! it was in 2000 and we celebrate down the 50th birthday of my mom!

may i ask you how expensive this travel was?

@giffy haha i like my boss still, she is the best one! the last week i make 12 hours overtime! and today i worked from 8 am to 8 pm! but i still like my work it is great to work like this!
i had a teacher today as a patient and he asked me why i didn´t study? i said why? then he asked about my notes in school and i said not bad, math 1, german and english 3, and in geographic and history i had also 1 and also so in music and art! and also the other subjects i wasn´t so bad! then he again asked my i didn´t study and i said, i can´t sit on my butt for so long so i be not made for studing! lmao!
even with this annoying patients i keep my smiling and this one today wasn´t so bad! there are other more annoying patients outside, but it would be boring when there wouldn´t be some crazy patients out there!

@all hope you all had a great evening!

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Corinna

I really love your attitude towards your occupation!!

Think it is great to have such physios like you are, Corinna.

I honestly prefer a physio who did not study than a doctor who should better do something else!! LOL

You are right, I felt also like a Swiss Heidi as I saw the beautiful lakes and the mountains, and there must be nice villages, enough people and a lot of amazing places!

Our travel agency caluculates real good and the owner knows a lot about travelling and the driver/guides are very brilliant and versatile!

You do not believe, the driver everyday loads in all the luggage (sorted of course) especially if one part has to get on the ferry as well as in the right order to get home.

The driver sells also drinks and he told us he can keep the money. So we had special drinks like a
Apfelmost from Thurgau and beer from the Appenzell. HaHa
The price of a bottle is equal 2.50 Swiss francs or 2.50 Euro.

The whole travel to Corsica/Sardegnia costs us Swiss Francs 695.- for 6 days, and we had the 4 star hotel with swimming pool. The very fit persons went to a swimm in the sea in short distance.

My partner and I preferd to do a real good nap before the dinner!! The travel with the ferry made us a bit tired.

  49. It was a great travel and you can really not ask for more!

@Corinna Glad your job is going well and you still like your boss even though she gives you lots of hours. It great that business is good and of course you enjoy your work and are very good at it.

oh and my "ausbildung zum physiotherapeuten" is like a "arzt grundstudium" we learned the same as the docs and the only different is that we aren´t be able to make diagnoses, it isn´t allowed for us! but often we know more as the docs and that is funny!

    @giffy i can´t see the vid!

well i think i will always love my job!

I really enjoy your report on your fantastic vacation, Nicolettchen ! and I really thank you for giving us many interesting and useful information about the places you visited !

First, I thought Mistral blows only from winter to spring, but I knew it does not. sorry you missed the excursion in Corsica this time due to the delay of the schedule bc of Mistral. But I feel the rest of your vacation was wonderful.

The people on the ferry was just wise to take medicament in advance to avoid the seasickness.
I've never suffered from it, though I had only one travel by ferry for long hours, and the sea ( the Pacific ) was so quite then. But I always think it's impossible for me to get on board the spaceship. ... ;-)))

It was so nice that the members of the tour did not complain of the delay of the ferry. I remember you said the tour company you use is
reliable and nice people joins its tour. The people with jokes and humor.

One day the acrobatic move in the shower room, and the other day dressing up with the piano music ! I think you enjoyed the time in the ferry in various way, Nicolettchen. ... ;-)))

The Mediterranean sea attracts many people, bc there are many charming islands. Ibiza, Majouca, Corsica, Sardegna, Maddalena, Sicily, Malta, ... and so on.

I didn't know Aga Khan developed Costa Smeralda and I also didn't know there was Malaria in Sardegna in '60s ! Now different.
But I thought there were many villas owned by the European high society people, but now Saudis, Chinese, Indianas come to Maddalena, too !

I think you visited there in the best season, Nicoletta. You can touch the atmosphere of the super-rich and the wild nature of course.

yes, Ticino and Garda looks alike. and I love the lakes. and I think the route from Zurich to Toulon and the way back to Zurich is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. You are in the real postcard. ... :-)))

I'm so excited to read your report, Nicoletta. I think you chose the marvellous tour. The beautiful views, the unique atmosphere which is different from the daily life, and the good food and drink !

Thanks very much again, Nicolettchen, for making us happy, too !

  55. @Giffy

Several e-mails came to me the same day, and they wanted me to give them some advice. Their e-mails were about the family trouble. I don't know why they wanted my advice. I think it's probably I never talk emotionally. They seemed to need some calm judgement. Maybe...

I saw the pic in the paper that cat was sitting on the window side seat of the airplane, and it said it was in the business class cabin. I suppose she spent most ot the time in the cage though, the media wanted the pic like that. But it was so funny she looked out the window while the airline staff sat next to her on the aisle side seat. ... :-)))

btw, the smart apple costs high. ... :-)))
and do you have Fuji, too ? Giffy ? I feel greatly honored. which is the location of the product of Fuji in the States ? I think Michigan could be. and do you have also Nashi, the Japanese pear ? Is it Hosui or Kosui ? and where is from ?

  57. @Corinna

I can see the importance of a good education of the physios.

Guess you know already a lot because of great experience!

Giving a diagnosis is not that easy, had lately enough bad experiences with doctors. LOL

    @Corinna/Giffy

Yes, as Giffy said an unmarried Klaus would be fun.

Klaus told us he used to be a ski instructor and spoke a lot about the ski possibilities at Sardegna!

The ski lift shall be from 1960 and you can rent the ski gear from around 1972! The very long skis you know. They seem to have sometimes real snow there!

The funny thing was you were not yet sure if Klaus is making jokes or if it is the truth. HaHa
Finally he showed us as a prove a photo from his twins in the ski equipment in the middle of the snow.

With his sporty clothes, always shorts, first day in a plaid pattern, polo neck and mocassins, yes, I think this guy would be the perfect match to a sporty girl like you are, Corinna!

    And most importan, humour guaranted!

  58. @corinna.
There are the " monster patients " in Japan. They say lots of the stupid things and bother the medical people.

I'm proud of having a friend as the physiotherapist, corinna !

btw, the school grade ranking in Japan is from 10 or 5 to 1. So your 1 is our 10 ! At Uni, it depends on the uni, but in our case, AA-A-B-C-XX. AA is the best.

  60. Hi Ekaterina

Yes, you are right there are so many Mediterrian places which are nice to compare!

I like Ibiza very much, have great memories because I was 4 times there with different company, once with my mother, and I assure you, we had a real blast!

So much things to do, and the people, I mean the tourists are very interesting to look at!

Malta is also a very interesting island, also a lot of history, you know the Malteser, a real melting point of different cultures!

Did you know they use to have all the very old buses from Switzerland, the yellow ones which we call the "Postauto"!

At the bus terminal you can see very old ones, and they are still going strong! LOL

Rhodos I do know too, it is very beautiful! They call it the rose island, because of many roses!
Many romantic places there and I quite love the greek music!

and sometimes you have points from 0-15, and 15 is the best one so note 1!

i be happy that i have real less so called "monster patients", but i know already how i have to react,bc of my experiance with patients!

@nicoletta and giffy so you both are now looking for a guy for me?
we will see what will happen!

@nicoletta i know that i can snowing in sardegna! sometimes you hear it on tv or radio!

    ReplyDelete
  64. @Corinna I think your car will attract a man to you! Remember he's searching for you. Sorry you couldn't see the video. Maybe Google Heineken the Date. It's so funny. You've probably seen it already.

@Nicoletta I enjoy being the hotel Mama! I will soon be an "empty nester" mama again. My Ken moves out on Sat to a new apt closer to work. I'm happy for him, he can afford it and it's about time for him pay his own way in the whole wide world. Human children take a long time to raise. I enjoyed it very much and would gladly do it all over again.

@Ekaterina I don't know the names but I will check. I'm sure we imported the Fuji apple trees. They are grown all over the US. I use them to bake a delicious apple pie.

You will not believe it. I was at the hairdresser today. I badly needed a hair cut and some fresh color. (I think KJ got a haircut too, look at the photo on ALS blog) While I was processing the color, I got a call from my old boss. Business is better and she wants me back. Do you believe it? The horrible job that I hated! I will probably do it, because I'm not doing anything else right now. The money would come in handy for Christmas. I hate to use my dear H money to buy his present...what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  65. @Giffy

You are so right, human children take a long time to raise and one day the leave. Good luck to Ken!

Big laughter to the phone call of your former boss!

Yes, probably you should try it again, now you have the better cards! LOL

    @Ekaterina

Until now, I have never seen apples from Japan in Zurich!

We have Gala apple and I presume Grany Smith from New Zealand. To be honest I would in a way prefer apple from here. LOL

I am also a great apple eater and now I am very much looking forward to the apple season!

    @All

Many thanks to all ladies for your nice words to my holiday report!

    Enjoy a beautiful day!

The ski season is also around the corner ... LOL

    ReplyDelete
  66. @Nicoletta I am meeting with her tomorrow to see what she has in mind. What do I have to lose? I haven't had any stress for awhile. I need the $$ to buy my dear husband a fish finder for Christmas. While you were away having fun on vacation, I was thinking of you. I saw a video of the Swiss Top Secret Drumline. Have you ever seen them? Fantastic. The most recent video I found was:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJVdnMAGIt8&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL9754D7C168ADC32B

The one from 2006 is also very good. My younger son played percussion in marching band for football games. I just love it!

    ReplyDelete
  67. @Giffy

Thank you very much for the great video of Top Secret Drumline, Giffy!

You probably can understand that I am real proud now. HaHa

I love drums anyway, they are great!

Enjoyed very much all the great videos from the Japanese drums too which Ekaterina kindly posted. They are unique!

Love the rythm of the drums and it gives me shiver!

By the way, I was thinking about your great work that you certainly are doing every day with nice accommodation, excellent food for the whole family, Giffy!

I do not think all these work is totally free of charge. I mean just mentally and psychologically .... if you know what I mean!

Household, bringing up the children, etc. is worldwide underestimated, and I strongly think that is so wrong!

Good luck for your meeting with the "old" boss, Giffy!

Keep smiling and think about the $$!! LOL

    All the best, Giffy!

  68. Just looked at ALS blog. Didn't think he was allowed to date. I really liked the "She Lies" sculpture. Art is subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I did like it. Would like to see it up close "spinning on its axis." I wonder for whom the guys posed for a photoshoot?

@Nicoletta TYVM for your kind words. I took the job. I won't be buying any shoes anytime soon, but I may be able to save up for a fish finder. I need to come up with a catchy name for a practice blog on Wordpress. Any suggestions?

@Mel I tried the new Wendy's burger today. The pickles are different, more like bread and butter pickles, than dill. My cheeseburger with everything had mustard, although I read they didn't put mustard on anymore. It was good.

@Our dear Ekaterina Are you having trouble posting? Oh my?
