Remembering 9/11

Today is the 10th anniversary of the most horrible day in American history since probably WWII. Even though it's been 10 years I remember where I was & what I was doing. I was at school, in band & we were outside practicing. The plane that crashed in PA went right over my school. We had no idea what was going on in NYC, DC & the sky above us. When I went to my next class they told us what happened & took us to one of the science rooms & we watched the news. I remember they kept showing the planes crashing into the towers over & over. Then they kept showing them fall. Those images are stuck in my head & I know they will be there til the day I die. Everyone was crying & we didn't really understand why anyone would want to hurt so many people. That night I made my mom buy me all the newspapers so that I would have them to show my children & grandchildren.

  2. @mel i also remember where i was, i just went home from school and i was sitting on the table and the tv was on! when they showed the fist plane and how this one hit the first tower, i told my mom "look at this, how silly can they be to make a movie like that" (i really thought first this is a movie and they showed the forcast of this movie) then i realized that this isn´t a fake and this is real! i was so shocked! i forgot about the homework and was sitting in the front of the tv the whole day!

I was working this day with the bank, it was a quite normal day - until ca. 3 p.m. Swiss time.

Than suddenly a collegue informed us very nervous about the crash of the first plane into the tower!

We were all totally shocked, tried to find more information on the computer. At that time the info from the internet was not yet so good like today.

The college whiched informed us was a trader, so he had some direct information from USA, and he had the pictures on his screen.

The collegue was informing us all the time what happend, about the second crash, the falling of the first tower. So it was a chain of shockes for us.

As Corinna said, at home I watched also on TV the enormes pictures! Also the next days, so many moving information on TV, it was an unbelievable time!

  4. We were living in Toledo, Ohio then about 2 hours west of Mel. I remember it was the most beautiful, clear blue sky day. I was working as a secretary at my sons elementary school. (I loved that job. The kids were my favorite age.) A parent called in to tell the principal about the "accident." We turned on the small TV she had in her office. Of course, we were in shock and so sad all day at each new horror. All day long parents would call in wanting to pick up their children. There was a report a plane had flown over Cleveland and they didn't know how many more planes there were. I would tell the parents, "Of course, you can pick up your child, they're your children. But they're having a normal happy day. They don't know anything is going on. We won't tell them and you can explain it to your child the way you want to when they come home." Most of them left the children in school, but some did come get the child for their own comfort. There was a lot of panic and fear, and overwelming sadness in the days after.

  5. As @corinna said, I first thought it was a movie promotion. It took some minutes to understand it was the reality.

Later on, in Tokyo, I watched the documentary film shot by the French brothers. They planned to shoot the documentary film on the fire fighters in NYC before Sept 11, and they were there to start the " normal " plan.
As the result, their normal plan became the historical record of the tragedy.

    P.S.
I'm back from Sapporo to the heat island Tokyo.

  7. Hello, my friends!
    I'm back!!:)

Thank you all so much for your beautiful thoughts, warm words and good wishes! I've missed you too, my ladies!
About my health condition I can tell you that is not very bad, but very good either. My nodules are bigger and I need a surgery!!! I'm not happy about it, you can imagine! But in the same time my homeopathic doctor said to not hurry up to do the surgery bc she thinks we can solve this problem by treatment. But I still have to do a biopsy, which is very hard bc I can do it only in Bucharest, at the Institute of Endocrinology and I couldn't do the appointment bc the dr wasn't there. Today my aunt will go to do this, but the big problem is that the doctor's agenda is full till March, next year! We'll see.
I've started my homeopathic treatment Monday, but as you know, it take time till I'll see the results.

I didn't meet "the doctor" again, but I have another awesome thing to tell you, it's almost unbelievable! I met face to face a real Norwegian guy (it's a long story about how I met him, I'll tell you some other time!LOL) We used to send each other e-mails, but rarely and it was amazing that he was in Bucharest in the same time with me. He sent me a mail with his phone nr and told me to send him a SMS if I want to meet him. He invited me for the lunch at a nice terrace of an Italian restaurant and we stayed there talking for more than four hours! But the part I think you all will like more is that he's a RIDER!!!! Hahaha! He has a wonderful Harley-Davidson and he invited me next evening for a ride and for dinner! It was amazing, it was the first time I did something like this!!! We spent about 5 hours on this adventure and I came back my aunt house after the midnight!!! But I was a good and decent girl, I can assure you! LOL He's a very nice guy, with beautiful eyes, a nice smile, with a great sense of humor, so calm and with a pleasant voice! I was trembling like hell when I saw him face to face for the first time, but when he started to talk to me he gave me a feeling of peace and confidence and everything was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
What a pity he couldn't stay more than two days!

This is the best thing that has happened to me for a very long time and I'm happy that I could meet him, he's a real gentleman!

So this was my adventure in B in the Fall of 2011! Haha!

    @Giffy
It's like you provided what happened!! I love the new Chapter of your novel and I can't believe I'm not shy anymore!!! :)))

Thank you all again, my friends!
Wish you a day as beautiful as it's here, very sunny and warm!
    Love you!

  8. I have a good news from my aunt: she made the appointment for the biopsy in the same day when I have to visit the homeopathic doctor!! 25th of October! The biopsy it's at 10AM and the other one at 4PM! Great!

Welcome back, my dear dana !!!

I strongly feel you are both destined to meet in B in this September. I'm so much happy about your " holidays " with him !
And I think the homeopathic treatment will work well.
btw, is he travelling around Europe on his Harley ? and does he have plan to visit you in Campina ? I really hope he will !!!

I find the new situation around you is with more good news, dana.
Hope you have a fun time with your family after your days-long absence at sweet home !!!

Great ! You'll be again in B in the 25th of October to take the 2 good treatments there !
    The best combination !!!

Thank you so much, my dear Ekaterina! I'm glad I'm back too!:)

Yes, the guy was on his holiday around the Eastern Europe on his Harley, he likes to do this every year, last year he traveled from Norway to Stalingrad on his motorbike! 5 weeks riding! But I think it's amazing to do this. Now, when we met, he was coming back from Ukraine.
I forgot to tell that he has beard, a very short one, but he looks nice! He's a very pleasant person, intelligent, kind, I told you-a real gentleman!:))

He said maybe next year he will visit me in Campina, to drink a tea or a coffee together and I promised him to make pancakes, his favorites-as he said, with jam made by myself! LOL It would be great!

About having fun with my family...I don't know what to say... My boys are not very good on housework, so I've had so many things to do to put the house in order! It wasn't big mess, but the kitchen and the bathroom didn't look as it should, you know! LOL

Wish you a pleasant evening my dear Ekaterina! A friendly GRRRR! to your little sister too!:)
    Love you!

    ReplyDelete
  12. @dana.
The boys are the same in Japan, too ! ... :-)))
Maybe we have spoiled them for years. ... ;-)))

He's a real gentleman, dana. If not, it's impossible to travel abroad safely for 5 weeks on Harley.

Stalingrad sounds more familiar than Volgograd.
Even Leningrad. bc when I studied history, those cities were called like that. Battle of Stalingrad and Siege of Leningrad.

Did you ask him about the whole route of his travel ? I guess he's thinking about taking a short trip with you next year. I hope I'm right !

She says she wants to give you a nose greeting with Grrrr. My baby sis is also happy to have you here again ! In Japanese, the beard and the whiskers are the same word, and she says, " Mine is long, mine is long. " I don't know when she checked the blog. While I was taking a bath ? Possibly. ... ;-)))

Have a restful evening after doing some housework, my dear dana !
    Kisses & Hugs !

Thanks for your "fairytale" news with the Norwegian guy in Bukarest, dear Dana!

Interesting, what can happen if you are at the right time at the right place!

It looks like everything will go the right way for you, Dana, I am sure the homeopathic doctor can do something real good for you!

Wish you good luck regarding health & love, dear Dana!

Enjoy a very nice evening at home! The houshold can wait .... ! LOL

Thank you so much, my dear, for being happy for me! As I said before, it was unbelievable! I've never thought I'll meet him and now I was gone to the doctor, not to meet Norwegian guys, but it just happened!:))
Hope the things will go fine for me from now on, at least regarding my health!

Yes, we were at the right time at the right place!

How are you, dear Nicoletta? Hope you feel good now!
Wish you a beautiful evening too!
    Kisses and hugs!

    @Ekaterina
Yes, he told me about the route of his travel, as I understand he likes so much to visit Eastern countries like Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. He has many friends in these countries.
Yes, I talked to your sister while you were taking the bath! LOL I told you I can speak her language!
    Sleep well, both of you!:))

    Here the story:

The Eastern Europe which belonged to the Warsaw Treaty Organization formerly is very attractive, I think. The reason may sound a bit ironically for you, dana, but it is because those nations did not develop in a way we did. That is, the atmosphere of the city, town, village still remains as before WWII when people took care of the local culture and custom. Furthermore, the tourism of the 20th century after WWII did not have so many chances to do business there until the late 20th century. I think it brought the priceless attractiveness to the Eastern Europe, bc they keep pure.

It's difficult to explain these kind of matter, but I think I understand how he loves travelling around the Eastern Europe. dana, you are lucky to have been born there !

Have a pleasant weekend, my dear dana.
    LOVE !

    @Nicoletta.
I'm already excited about your holiday, Nicolettchen ! When do you leave home on Monday ?

  17. @Dana OMG Welcome back! I think your real story is better than mine! I'm so happy and to think it might all come true. The power of positive thinking. How did you like the breeze in your hair? Love it. I think you could have a whole year of flirty emails with him? Glad you had some answers in B and a positive treatment plan. I think things are going your way! Yeah! We missed you.

@Ekaterina I also had a text from your baby Sis and she was very naughty about the mineral spa scene...You should have a word with her. HaHa!

@Nicoletta How many days until your holiday? It must be coming up soon, you've been packed for awhile. Hope you have a wonderful time. I know you will.

@Corinna What is going on this weekend? Party Time. I couldn't tell KJ was looking like a lobster. (Yum! Lobster) His outline looks good but it's too dark. Someone should give him a gentle photography lesson about having the sun on the photo subjects face not behind them.

Feels like autumn is coming here. Time to take the boat out of the water. It was a quick summer. Love and Kisses back to all of you!

Hope you are doing well! Are you back to piano classes and concerts? Hugs & Kisses back!

@Dana What did you wear for your motorcycle adventure? What sort of shoes? haha! I have a million questions as usual. Did you tell him about your interest in a certain blog?

yes, but our maple, the Japanese Maple is a little bit different from yours. Generally, the leaves of the Japanese maple is small like a baby's paw. In Central Tokyo, the leaves start changing colour in early December. In outskirts, it starts November, I think. Because it's warmer in central part than outskirts, so I have to wait for months !

I'll go to the concert next Wednesday. The piano lesson is back normal, however I still have a slight pain, about once a week. The nail of the 4th finger of my right hand looks much much better now, so I think the pain will disappear soon.
Thank you, dear Giffy, for thinking about it !

Hope you enjoy the lovely weekend !

Was very busy with packing and household things!

Finally, I decided to go with 2 suitcases (on weels) and not the extra luggage for the ferry!

So we will take one suitcase on the ferry! That's it! LOL

Since last night we have havy rainfalls, and it will go on like this till the whole Monday. Temperatures go down, down, only 7-13 degrees!

Time to leave for a little vacation, hope nice mediterranean sun is waiting for us!!

How do you know? Yes, I made the final check, also weather conditions.

Weather should be sunny, ideal 24-26 degrees, in the mornings around 18.

I decided to take two pair of sandals with me. HaHa

Traveling for 6 days is defintely more complicated as 4, especially if you have different temperatures.

Wish you a good night, and a pleasant week, dear Ekaterina!

I'm interested in " autumn-room-cleaning ". ...;-))) Do you have something special to do in Bavaria ?
In Tokyo, we don't have any particular things to do. But personally I think autumn is the best season to clean the house in Tokyo, bc the temperature is mild, however autumn has not reached us yet. ...

Have a pleasant day, my dear corinna !

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ekterina well "autumn-room-cleaning" was a blast, now my room is clean and a bit emptier then before!

oh something special here in bavarian! we have snow!!!!! up on the mountains that is so great!
today it was real snowing, also in austria they had in tyrol, salzburg and kärnten even some little car accidents bc of the snow!
and up to the spitzingsee you can only go by winterwheels and winterequipment!

the winter is right around the corner! and i can´t wait for it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. @Corinna Snow? Really already? Does that seem early or is it usual to have a dusting in September. Glad you are done with your cleaning.

@Ekaterina Will you make saurkraut again this autumn? I can't wait for the details of the marriage of that cabbage.

@Dana Have you heard from your Harley Man? You know I was going to use a Harley in the novel but I was afraid it would remind Nicoletta of SL.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @corinna.
The car has to be winter-equipped even up to the Spitzingsee !? It sounds the winter is really around the corner in Bavaria.
In Tokyo, The temperature is only 18°C to 21°C today. It looks like autumn is coming here at last. The autumn in Japan is always accompanied with lots of rain, and the rain brings us the cool air, and then we'll have the very very dry winter which comes usually in December.
Only about 3 months are left for this year. Time passes so fast !

Hope you enjoy the first day of winter in the beautiful Bavaria, my dear corinna !

    @Giffy.
I think I'll start it in December. Sarmale is very fun to make, especially the marriage of the cabbage is exciting ! ... ;-)))
btw, Giffy, do you have your own maple syrup ? We don't have our own and we take the imported ones mostly from Canada.

Hope you have a lovely autumn day, my dear Giffy !

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Ekaterina The US does make it's own maple syrup, but I don't make it at home. It takes a long time to collect the maple sap, and boil it down to sugar. I'm sure there are maple sugar farms or "sugar shacks" in Michigan you could visit to watch them make maple sugar but I never have. I think Vermont is the state that makes the most well known maple syrup in the US. Thank you my dear Ekaterina for wishing me a happy day. Hope you have a wonderful autumn day, too!

@Dana My dear Sis! Where are you?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hello my dear friends!

I'm very very busy! This is the pickles, preserves, compotes season!!! So I have a lot of things to do after work!
But I miss you all so much!

About my rider? Haha! Now he's very very busy, he's general manager at a Harley-Davidson shop, so bc he was five weeks in vacation all across the Europe, he has now so damn many things to do! But he writes me a few lines from time to time, he even thanked me that I'm understanding and I give him time to put the things in order at work! But he didn't forget me!! LOL

I'm glad you all are fine and joyful, as usual! I really hope I'll have more time for myself soon to come here as often as I usually do!

Wish you all a nice autumn, here's very warm, sunny and pleasant, just the fact that the days are shorter remind us that the Fall has come!
Love, kisses & hugs to everyone!
Now I come back to kitchen! LOL

btw, it seems he worked during his vacation, too, bc he was riding Harley. ... ;-))) But I'm sure the best memory of his vacation 2011 is the time he spent with the Romanian beauty You, dana !
