Thanks for the link ! Nicolettchen !
    ... yes, ... it's truely long. ...:-)))
But I think I could read it. Since you informed me of NZZ, I've often checked it.

The power shortage is one of the problems we have to face in this summer. It doesn't matter so much for people at home, but the big firms & factories, and so on.

Japan is a stupid nation with 2 different electric currencies in 1 country. The western part of Japan uses the power with 60hz, while we eastern part uses the power with 50hz. So even if the western part have enough power to transmit to us, they cannot.
It was our HISTORICAL FAULT. ( maybe one of ... )

In the late 19th century, we met the electricity for the first time. Japan has been one nation already, but the time was not like now, but something like a confusion period.
The Japanese men in the western part who were in charge of the electricity learned how to make and use it by American engineers. The electric currency in the USA is 60hz, so they started it with 60hz. But the Japanese men in the eastern part who were in charge of the power learned it from German engineers. As you see, the electric currency in Germany is 50hz, so they started it with 50hz.

It has passed almost 150 years since then, but this situation has not been changed. Incredible for me, indeed.

Hope you have a nice weekend ! my dear Nicoletta !

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ekaterina thank you!

one question what do you mean with "In the late 19th century, we met the electricity for the first time. Japan has been one nation already, but the time was not like now, but something like a confusion period."

i meant that part with one nation, wasn´t japan always one nation?

today i feel a bit better, my head isn´t hurtiing anymore, but my throat is a bit more hurting, but it is ok!

  16. Hi! Everyone. Hope you are all doing well. My dear husband is still out of town and we're getting ready for a great Fourth of July. The weather is great here and I've been sort of busy and haven't been inside much. I owe everybody a chapter.

@Dana LMK if you want me to rewrite dear sister. I think some mystery is best! :)

@Corinna Hope you will feel better, dear Corinna, laugh/cough. What is the little heart shaped thing on the fan? I thought it was chocolate at first. Your video was funny!

    So here goes:

    Chapter Seven

The alarm clock went off and it was playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Dana woke up and couldn't believe if it was real or a dream. Did what she thought happen really happen? She began to look around for evidence. She began to replay the events in her mind. She looked around for some clues...

She turned the alarm off so she could concentrate. She clearly remembered walking away from the Doctor's Clinic. She ordered a coffee at the cafe and he had a Red Bull. She was shy with the Doctor at first be he immediately put her at ease talking about his family life, what he did after work, and that he was interested in photography when he wasn't working or working out. She was especially interested in how he came to be in Romania. He came for a medical convention that turned into vacation and he loved the scenery and people so much he decided to stay to practice medicine. He was very fond of the local regional foods and ordered samarle for both of them and wine. A whole lot of very good wine, maybe too much.

At some point in the night there was a discussion of his bike, and the trails he rode, and the food shacks he stopped at to eat. She was just sure there was dancing involved later that night and a song was running through her head. It was Pat Monahan's Her Eyes, that's where hope lies.

But how did that explain that she woke up in this room with her dress puddled up on the floor?

  17. @Mel OMG stop what your doing right now and grab the photo on ALS site today and flip it around. I think it's going to be awesome. Wish I could call you! Haha!

  18. @corinna.
yes, Japan has been one nation and is one nation. ( btw Stalin wanted to devide Japan just like GDR & DDR after the WWII and he actually proposed his plan at the Potsdam conference in 1945, but all the other leaders attended there rejected it. )

Japan gave up the secluded policy after about 200 years in practice, and opened the nation in 1868. We had lots ot changes then. For example, the top of the regime before 1868 was the Shogun ( a kind of the warlord ), but the top leader after 1868 was the Emperor, and it continued until 1945. The era of change is accompanied with various confusion. And during the confusion, IT HAPPENED. The Emperor had not learnt how to govern the nation, but the leaders thought one thing in common, that is, Japan had to catch up with the modernized nations, and the new government people were really in a hurry. They thought they needed the electricity, and they started to learn it without any talks among the leaders as well as the engineers. It was like a voluntary movement. There were no airplanes of course, and we didn't have even the railways in Japan. And American engineers happened to be in the western part of Japan, and German engineers happened to be in the eastern part. Although we didn't have the airport and the railway stations, we had the seaports already and many people from overseas started to visit Japan then.
    That's why. corinna.

Hope you have a good rest my dear corinna, bc it's not at all fun to be with the hurt throat.
Please take good care of you !!!

  19. @giffy it is a "Lebkuchenherz" which is printed on the fan!

I love it!!!! You don't have to change anything, it's perfect! I like your writing style, you're inspired, you have a great imagination! And you're right, some mystery is best!!
    Thank you, my dear sis!
But how did you know that I like Bohemian Rhapsody??? I really love it! I'm so surprised to see how good you fit the story with reality!! Amazing!

  21. I have been having fun looking through Prince Albert's wedding photos for the tallest person there to see if I can spot ALS. Wasn't the bride gorgeous? My French is terrible, and I don't understand the tradition of leaving the bouquet at the shrine. Was Charlene crying for Princess Grace or because she was overcome with heat?

Funny about ALS posting three times. In the US we call that "Ass Dialing" when you call someone accidently because your phone is in your pocket. Wasn't he handsome and OMG the smirk! :)

@Corinna Are you feeling better? How's your throat? Is Leibkuchen a cookie?

@Ekaterina & Nicoletta I am enjoying your history of power and political discussion although I fear I am not informed enough to comment. Keep up the good work it's very interesting.

@Mel Happy Fourth of July! Enjoy!

Amazing ! Giffy ! Very excellent composition of the scenes which let us feel so mysterious and I really want to read more and more. You can publish the novel, my dear Giffy.

Yes, the doctor who had REDBULL must have decided to stay in Romania not only because of her beautiful landscapes and foods and so on. It's the Romanian Beauty, like dana.

Hope you enjoy the 4th of July, my dear Giffy ! Is your husband back ?

    @All have a beautiful week!

The house finished reforming ? How do like it ?
It's been pretty hot every day in Tokyo. I'm looking forwad to my holiday which starts from August 16th to September 2nd, then I stay a couple of days in Tokyo spending most of time with my baby sis, and then I have some holiday with my dad from September 5th to 7th in Sapporo where is much much cooler than Tokyo.
I think I have to be very busy for the next 6 weeks to have the holidays, but I'll enjoy it.

btw, in the village out of 30km from the Fukushima 1, a rabbit without ears was born. Mom ate the contaminated grasses during the pregnancy. Although it's safe in the area where I live and spend most of my time, in some part of even in Tokyo, there are some hotspots of radiation. But I think it's worse in Fukushima. I think it's worse than I first expected.

Back to the heat, that's OK, we can put on the air-conditioner 24 hours a day if we want, bc
the big-consumer of the power, such as the factories and big offices are forced to cut 15 % power off for 3 months ( July, August and September ). If they fail to do it, they must pay $12,500 per hour for the penalty. And furthermore the factory workers work on Saturdays & Sundays, instead of Wednesdays & Thursdays during these 3 months to avoid the concentration of consumption of the power.

I long for the normal situation in october, however it takes years and years until Fukushima is confirmed safe, I'm afraid. It was honestly our government's fault to run the highly risky nuclear reactors without any measures for the safety in such a seismic country.

Hope you have a beautiful new week, my dear dana !

hope you all have a great day

@dana HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your dad, hope you can enjoy the day too

@ekaterina a rabbit without ears? wow, that is real strange, but i know that this can happen after nuclear disasters!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks everybody for the 4th of July wishes! It's a great patriotic red/white/blue family day with BBQ, playing games outdoors, and fireworks at night.

@Dana Happy Bday to Dad! Hope he enjoys the delicious cake you baked for him! Congrats. I noticed the camera in ALS picture too, I think he took it in a mirror, so funny. Even though he's from Oslo I bet he's warm, very very warm. You'll have to tell us in the next chapter.

@Ekaterina My dear H is in Lyon, France this week near the silk district. He has flown completely around the world, Detroit, to Shanghai, to Paris, and back Friday. Thanks for asking! You're so good about remembering things about us here on the blog. Stay cool!

@Nicoletta Maybe you're right. Maybe someone is stalking ALS. Just a theory but, I was thinking about ALS taking photos with his cell phone even though we know he has a very nice camera. Someone stated journalist are taking details from his blog for gossip magazines. I wonder if that's why he's been taking them from his phone and in the shadows because the quality is not good enough to grab to reproduce for a gossip mazagine?

There is an expression "If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all." I always want to say kind things, but if I didn't know what to wear to a royal wedding, I wouldn't assume I could figure it out on my own, I would ask someone. No shame in doing a little research if you don't know something. I would get the help of a stylist. I could say more but I won't. I think y'all know what I mean.

Best Wishes for a great week and love all around. I've got to go make the potato salad, and cupcakes with sprinkles...

    ReplyDelete
  30. @corinna.
Exactly. A poor rabbit is apparently a victim of the nuclear accidents in the Fukushima 1 in March. It is alive, however without ears. so poor. ....... It is just the beginning of nightmare in the areas about 30km around the Fukushima 1. The government has started the investigation of radiation ( inside the body ) exposure of people in Fukushima prefecture.

  31. My dear Ladies,

Me and my dad thank you all so much for your greetings! In fact we celebrated him yesterday. Me and Tudor organized a surprise party for him and invited some of our relatives, my dad's brothers and their wives that live near us! We had BBQ and @Giffy, sorry, this time I didn't make him a cake bc he would have seen me and I told you that it was a surprise! LOL But I bought a delicious ice cream cake and everyone was pleased! LOL

About trying to say always nice words, I try this too, that's why I didn't comment anything. But I know what you meant and I agree, if you don't have experience about something you better ask for some help. Just as you, I'd have so many things to say about this subject, but I better keep my mouth shut!
Here you all can see the best dressed Ladies at the wedding and I'm so proud to see that one of the "winners" is our Princess Margarita!:)

    http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/07/royal-fashion-awards-prince-princess-of_03.html

I know what AM wanted to say about warm and cold ppl from different regions of Norway and she didn't want to say that Aksel is "cold"!:)
As a Capricorn I can assure you that we are very warm and friendly but we try to protect ourselves wearing an "armor" that makes us seem distant, cold, even conceited. In fact we expect the others to make the first step toward us, then you'll want to shut out mouth bc we talk and talk...LOL
So I think Aksel is a truly warm person, open, nice, but a little shy! Well, not as shy as me! LOL
I'm looking forward for the new Chapter, I'm so curious what I'll do next! LMAO

Enjoy this special day, my dear Sis! Love you!

    @Ekaterina
After Chernobyl here happened all kind of weird things like this with the rabbit that you told us about. I remember about calves with two heads, lambs with more or less than four legs, even about a chicken with three legs! But the worst was that many babies born without some organs, with hair on a half of the face or cancer! Terrible! And many ppl had thyroid problems. Hope it will be not
    that bad for your people!

I'm sure that you and your baby sister will have a beautiful vacation and you and your dad will spend very pleasant and restful days together!
Kisses and hugs for you and a friendly Miau to your baby sis!:))

Love, kisses and hugs to everyone!

  32. @ekaterina that poor animal, but i be sure that something like this or @dana said will happen more often now!

  34. @dana. & @corinna.
There seems no way to exit. I think we must accept it, bc nobody can go back to 3.10 when we had no idea what would happen the next day.

Thanks. I'm OK. It's safe in my areas in Tokyo.

It has been dreadfully hot here and I confess I haven't read the comments in ALS. But I guess what's going on there, and I think I feel the same as @Giffy, @dana, and @corinna.
I wouldn't hesitate to ask anything to anyone when I think it looks difficult to find the proper answer by myself. and I'm always welcome anybody to ask me anything.
And I often take the policy which says " Speech is silver, silence is golden. "
btw, what is platinum ? ... ;-))) Is it Smile ?

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ Ekaterina
    @ All Ladies

Oh yes, Ekaterina, it is definitely the Smile!

But what do you do, if you would like to cry instead?

You know, in general I like the person we speak about, I think she is very devote towards her boyfriend, and they have a lot in common.

    I see only one solution:

    She needs support from A-Z!

In her case, I would look for a Personal Style and Image advisor. She should support me in any aspect.

I would like her to come with me twice a year - when the new fashion arrives - for a shopping tour! So I would twice a year buy enough nice clothes, to be ready for the whole season, that means for different occasions! The same for shoes and any accessoires!

Especially for official occacions, I would prefer designer clothes. They can be simple, but I would choose always elegant ones with style!

For special occasion like a wedding, or a greater event, I would always contact her, that she can prepare a suitable choice!

The image advisor should help me to find a solution for a quick make-up and help to do something with my hair, even when I have not much time.

So she should send me to a visagist and I need knowledge how to take care of my hair, especially when I am on holiday at the sea.

If my boyfriend would take me to official occasions, even if they are sport events, I would go to a hairdresser, to look always perfect! The hair is such an important part for a Lady!

Rule number two, newer go out without a little make-up! A little bit of mascara, a hint of eye-shadow an blusher! Maybe lipstick! Et voilà, the girl looks much better.

As the boyfriend knows some Prada stylist and fashion expers, I would look there for all these assistance!

For me personally, the Italian fashion is a great one! I like Armani!

Sorry Ladies, I hope I was constructive, positive - very direct, but with a lot of love!!

    Have a nice day!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Forgot to mention..

Can you imagine how many lessons Princes Charlène had to take, to have this glorious appearence!

She was a very sporty girl, a professional swimmer! A lot of training, and no time for fashion and things like that!

So what, everybody can improve his appearance and his image! Sometimes a lot of work, but never impossible!

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Nicoletta I read a comment from Charlene's Father who said she grew up as a tomboy and was always covered in mud, and that they made her a princess in Monaco. There was a photo of a woman tennis star, I forget who?, in a light silk tailored suit who was perfect in my opinion. Let's not forget foundation undergarments to wear under all those beautiful clothes. They create support and some romance and mystery as well.

@Dana Glad your Dad had a Happy Birthday! Yum, ice cream cake sounds delicious. I enjoyed the photo's of the wedding fashion especially the tiaras very much.

@Ekaterina I was thinking of you yesterday. To get out of the heat, I took my sons to see the movie, Cars II. It's animated and part of it takes place in Toyko. I could just see you and your baby sis as cars. Would you be a Honda or a Toyota, would she be a scooter? It was a very colorful, fun movie for kids. My son, Ken, is an animator who would like to have his own comic someday so we still see animated movies. He knows he has to "pay his dues" in the real working world first like Walt Disney and Charles Shultz.

Thinking about the next chapter and hope to post soon. LMK if you want me to stop Dana and the Doctor...now that everyone is well maybe we don't need a bedtime story?

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Giffy

Puuuh, Giffy, you think of everything!

Underwear is very important, I forgot that one completely.

Every kind of dressing needs adequate underwear! You ruine almost every outfit without these little helpers! LOL

And going without, I think is only tolerable if you are around the sweet 16!

For official occasions I am afraid, it is a "no go" in my opinion. At least you don't do yourself any favour.

Regarding bedtime story, I presume we all need one, especially if it is funny one!

At the moment, the impulses from the other side are a bit mediocre, don't you think so Giffy? But I am very confident, you will handle that with class!

Have a happy day, dear Giffy!

    PS:
I tried to send some inputs to the person we are talking about on a secret line with twitter, because I love her.

If the boss reads what I wrote here, even better.

I sincerely hope it works out.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @nicoletta and giffy i think underwear is one real good thing too, even when you showed it so often like this person we talk about it, i think there is no season without she is showing what she is wearing under it! and she needs really to wear a bra everytime!

a personal stylist and the hairdresser before big events is a real good idea!

    ReplyDelete
  40. oh i forget i want to ad to my comment this

not that we have no "bad hair days"

  41. @ All ladies. I don't know what's going on here but in my post on ALS I never talked about Aksel as a cold person!! What I was talking about was ppl in general between the south and the north of norway. If I had the opinion that Aksel is cold as person I would say that straight out but this post was not about him at all!! Sorry that some of you here and on ALS got the impression I was talking about him, even I didn't mention him!!!

  42. @AM We love you AM. I know you didn't ever say anything about him being cold it was that trouble maker anon. Just teasing Dana that his chest would be very warm. Sorry if you took my teasing wrong, I understood what you were saying. We all love you over here AM you can say whatev you want. No fights. I will write a steamy novel about you or maybe a short story. LOL! AM and the Midnight Sun. AM, I have a feeling, are you a writer?

@Corinna Yes, bra. I was unable to spell the french dellecotague, help? It's still not right? Do they have a word for that in German? My hair always says, "Let's party!" or "Been Rolling in the Hay!"

@Nicolleta Our real hero will not care what she wears or looks like anyway because he sees only love. Are you thinking my novel hero should "step up his game?" I was hoping to stall the inevitable a while longer?

btw, how long does the Midnight Sun last ? and does the first day vary every year ? like it starts earlier than the last year or later than the previous years and so on ?

In Tokyo ( and throughout Japan this year ), the summer weather came earlier than usual years. I love summer, bc I prefer the sleeveless clothes. But the only thing I hate about summer in TOKYO is the heat and the humidity. It's just crazy. You can cook a fried eggs on the asphalt roads which run in most part of the city, however nobody tries it. ... ;-)))
The temperature in Tokyo in summer was higher than that in Cairo last year, and was a little bit lower than some cities in India. I wonder where does Tokyo belong to in summer. ... ;-)))

People in Tokyo is very friendly and open as the north of Norway. But people in the western part is often too cautious for people from other areas while they hide their true feeling and keep smiling. And people in the Eastern part is calm, but those in the western part is not calm. I think I'm a typical Tokyo-girl.

I'm afraid how many days over 35℃ we'll have this summer.

Have a beautiful time in the Midnight Sun ! my dear AM !

I didn't follow that much any discussions on ALS's site lately.

Don't worry AM, we know you very well since a long time, and everybody knows that you are a great fan of Aksel!

Bad hair days are so mean!
    I agree with you!

    @Ekaterina

Regarding radioactivity, I read that school children in Fukushima are measuring the radioactivity in their environment, and made even statistics where not to go or not to stay for a long time!

Furthermore, it is in the preperation to give every child a little machine to measure the radioactivity during the day.

Hope it helps to avoid all these awful troubles.

Have a happy day, dear Ekaterina!
    Hope you feel well!

  48. @giffy do you mean a word fro bra/decolette? we in bavaria says "mei die hat aber holz vor der hütte" lmao when somone has big ones
for this bad hair thing, we don´t have really a word for it! we say "Bad hair day" or "ich schau heute wieder aus wie ein struwelpeter"
or better in bavarian "i schou heid wieda aus wia a struwlbäda!"

@nicoletta well i like aksel more in the other suit then in this one! lmao
i think the other suit fits better to him, but it was the dresscode bc of that he was needed to change!

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Corinna

    I noticed it too!

I think Aksel has organized both suits just for just 1 day!

I can understand that, but he looked absolutely impeccable!

Btw, I go also for the Prada suit! With this one he lookes gorgeous!

But the girl took into consideration all we have spoken about, wow what a change! She looked sweet!

    @Corinna
    @Giffy

For the "Holz vor der Hütten" we say:

The girl has big eyes or she has got big ears!

I worked for a Danish bank and they say: The girl has a lot of intelligence!

We imported also the expression "bad hair days".

    Have a great day!

To tell you the truth, me myself love to write! My plan was to be a journalist but I never got that far bc of my asthma, but I haven't given up on that yet! LOL

@ Ekaterina WOW You really have a HOT weather! LOL The funny part about me and the midnight sun is that I can't remember from year to year for how long it stays. Hehe. But I guess we will have it around till the end of july. We have such beautiful days and night these days. Sun and warmth. The only thing I need is you guys and Aksel in the terrece for a corona!! Thanks, my dear Nicoletta !
As you see, the situation in Fukushima is far from optimism. The anxiety delivers the another anxiety to the anxiety. It's been like the spiral of the anxiety for these 4 months. Especially the moms in Fukushima worry about their kids so much if they are exposed to the risky level of radiation. It takes time until things will be clear.

I'm a bit tired these days, because of the annual crazy summer in Tokyo and because of our slow government.

No more cough ? Nicolettchen, btw. .....
Have a pleasant evening, my dear Nicoletta !

    ReplyDelete
  53. @AM I really thought maybe you were a journalist! You always have the up to the minute news. LOL! What would ALS say to us if he was on your deck drinking a beer?

@Ekaterina I bet you enjoy your bath more than ever in summer! Do you change the scent of your bath oil by season? What fragrance? Are the Japanese children getting little radio activity sensors?

@Nicoletta Do you remember last summer when ALS appeared in tshirt in a post at an Italian tailor's? I wonder if that's when he ordered his suits?

@Corinna Thanks for the German lesson. All I could remember is "we had the boobs to go visiting the Playboy Mansion."

Sorry I've visited you seldom in the last days but I'm busy, I'm making jam!! LOL And it takes time so I can't leave the kitchen for hours! These days I make sour cherry jam and I put some little plastic bags with cherry (without stones) in the freezer so in the winter time I can make cherry pie! It takes so much time because I have to take off the cherries' stones. LOL

Sorry again, I didn't read all the comments, but I hope you all are fine and had a nice week so far!

    @Giffy
You MUST keep writing sweetie! I'm still taking pills, so I'm not well, I need your bed time story! Hahaha! Especially that you're so good on it!

But cherry, sour cherry, bitter cherry, strawberries, currants, raspberries, apricots, peaches, cranberries, quince, plums...I make all them jam! Haha!
I should talk to Mel, maybe she will need jam for her pastry! LOL

  80. Chapter Eight

The song playing softly on the radio is Jet’s; Are you gonna me my girl? Dana moves around a little and thinks about putting her clothes back on then hears a sound outside the door. The Doctor walks in looking bright eyed, fresh and showered. He is carrying a take away tray with two coffees and a paper bag. He passes Dana a coffee and says, "Good morning. I remembered how you take you coffee and I bought some rolls. How are you feeling?"

Dana accepts the coffee and whispers, "Thanks! I'm feeling well, but I'm a little confused about what happened last night."

The Doctor is drinking his coffee but looks surprised, "What happened?"

    Dana says, "Yes, what happened?"

The Doctor murmurs, "Don’t you remember what happened?"

Dana says, blushing, "I'm not sure. I mean my dress is on the floor, and I don't remember exactly where my shoes are or purse?"

The Doctor lets out a little laugh, and then stops, "To be honest, I threw your shoes outside and ravished you entirely from top to bottom all night long!"

Both Dana's eyebrows shot straight up! "You did?" she said.

The Doctor said, "Last night we just talked and got to know each other. We drank a little wine. You probably hadn’t had much to eat because you were nervous about your medical exam and we were having too much fun and maybe the wine went to your head. When we started dancing, I was spinning you all around, and you told me you felt a little dizzy. I live close so I brought you here so I could keep an eye on you. I’m not sure how you got your dress off but you did that yourself.”

Dana stammers, “What? I took off my own dress?”

“I might have helped you a little but you were very sleepy!" he joked. "But now seriously, There is such a thing as the Hippocratic oath, and Doctor/patient confidentiality. I could never take advantage of you in that capacity. Are you kidding, I have integrity. You were my patient, but we need to take care of that right away and transfer your records to another doctor. You really don't need my services as a doctor because I could be so much more. As I said, there is nothing wrong with you a little romance couldn’t cure. Once transferred, then I could make mad passionate love to you all night long, haha!"

Dana was thinking to herself, “That’s more like it.”

The Doctor was smiling and turned to grab a few things from pile of gym clothes out of a laundry basket, “Time’s wasting! The bathroom is that way. Pull these clothes on and meet me outside. I have a surprise for you!”

Dana thought, “I have a surprise for you and it’s right here.” She picked up her dress and stuffed it into her purse that was also on the floor. She hurried to the bathroom, and resisted to the temptation to investigate his medicine cabinent and cupboards. But she dressed quickly anyway in the clothes that were clean but nevertheless still smelled like the Doctor’s clean manly smell. Luckily, the athletic shorts weren’t too baggy and the shirt hugged nicely to Dana’s curves. She thought, "I have the boobs to go visiting the Playboy mansion." She chugged down some coffee, grabbed her purse, the bag of rolls, took a deep breath and walked outside.

“What next?” she thought. Just outside the front door were two of the most beautiful road bikes she had ever seen with helmets hanging on the handlebars.

The Doctor stood with a huge smile on his face, opened the door and said, "You look great in my clothes. After you my dear, darling, Dana."

  81. @Dana There you go! Enjoy! I am trying to prolong their Dating. I need to think of something spicy to happen while they are biking. Maybe they can run into somebody or witness a crime. At our reunions we play rummy or domino's and rook. It's a card game sort of like Euchre...Do you play that? It's going to be in Gatlinburg, TN. We're leaving on Thurs and come back Monday. I've never been there but it's supposed to be in the mountains and have a waterpark. Of course, when we're together there is a lot of laughing and silliness.

Thank you very much for thinking about me & my family !!!
Honestly speaking I was surprised to know the last Sunday's earthquake which hit the same area in the sea in 3.11 was recorded as the Richter Scale 7.3, however we had only a small and short shake in Tokyo.
I think it was lucky that the actual spot was in the deep sea, bc if it was in the shallow, tsunami would come again.
Since 3.11, we have had many earthquakes all over Japan, bc the crust of Japan became very unstable, which we have never experienced in the last 100 years.

The 4 months have passed since 3.11, but " thanks to our government " no good news. We Japanese people are calm and carry on, but our government is not and does not. It is a big stress for us.

I think I'm well, but have been exhausted by the heat and the depressing topics around us every day.

I'll visit here again after the telephone.

Haha! You're priceless!!! I'm not sure what Speisekammer is, I guess is in German, but sounds like Romanian "camara"=pantry! Am I right?
Sorry for you, but I don't know to make orange marmalade!:)) Maybe you'll like something else. I like apricot jam, especially for pancakes! And quince jam.
Maybe you know that Turkish ppl treat their guests with coffee and Turkish delight and a glass of cold water. We have an ancient tradition, to treat our guests with a teaspoon of "dulceata" and a glass of cold water and in the modern times also with a coffee. But "dulceata" is not what we call jam, is what the French call "confiture" which is made almost like the jam but the fruits have to remain whole, not smashed, in a thick syrup. Usually I make dulceata with any kind of cherry, quince, currant, strawberry. And I make jam with the other.:))

Sorry, I'm boring talking about jam! Haha!

I hope you enjoy Gallinburg ! my dear Giffy !

We don't have rhubarb. I think it's not so popular here, but grandma of my German friend in Berlin once baked the rhubarb cake for me. I prefer to cherry pie, though. ... ;-)))

The children in Fukushima take the Geiger counter with them.

yes, I vote for the crime, too. And the mouth to mouth resusciation had better come much later, bc dana is so shy. ... ;-)))

I really enjoy the novel Giffy ! love your wit !

    yes, you're right, dana. It's a pantry.
I love talks about the jam ! The recipe is almost the same between jam & marmalade, I suppose. I can guess what dulceata is like.
I find it very interesting that a glass of the cold water is served. In Japan, we treat the guests with tea or coffee. But I think a glass of water sounds nice, so I try it with tea or coffee.
When I make Japanese tea, it is with Japanese sweets. and when I make English tea or coffee, it is with cake. But chocolate ( not a drink ) is almighty.

Until when you have to take pills, my dear dana ? Please take your time so that your doctor in B will be satisfied with your health condition. I think it's much better you're busy with the doctor who owns the beautiful bikes !

Have a restful evening, my dear dana.
Prrr from my baby sis to you ! Good night.

  97. @Dana Haha! That video is hilarious! Is it French? I thought the son brave to kiss his Father in front of all the other kids on the bus. LOL! We all love your discussion of jam, jelly, or fruit compote. If any of you were a guest in my house, I would hug you first, then I would go through the whole list of everything I have and offer it to you. My sons say sometimes I offer too much. Tonight I am baking two what we call crisps. A blueberry and a peach crisp with a oatmeal type sugar crumb crust on top served hot from the oven with ice cream on top.

@Ekaterina I'm glad you are alright I was starting to worry about you. Yes, my German Grandma used to bake a cream rhurbarb pie for us that we all love, but I think it's an acquired taste. I would prefer cherry or peach pie. Stay cool.
