New Helmet

It's plain, but I like it. He looks super stoked about it. I will miss last years helmet though.

  1. Update from the doctor: He gave me a numbing shot & it didn't do anything while I was there. So no surgery. He then gave me another cortisone shot. Which hurts like a S.O.B. & does nothing for me. I put ice on it & that helped. My shouldar started getting really cold & I just figured that it was because of the ice. Took it off & after a hour it's still freezing cold. I called the doctor & am waiting for them to call me back.

  2. @mel you should only put ice on your shoulder not only longer then 10 min. when you put it longer on it this isn´t good! then your muscles freeze in!

  33. Finally the doctors office called me back. It's normal that my shouldar is really really cold.

    I'm thinking something without alcohol. Can't drink while I'm taking vicoden. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  34. @AM & Dana HaHa It was me. I'm laughing so hard. It's a good thing I crack myself up! I didn't realize I typed in my real last name...I just ordered a bunch of stuff online. That must be it. Or I'm in love...

    @Mel Hope your shoulder improves tomorrow!

    @Corinna Can't wait to hear about your trip!

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Mel
    I find it OK if doctor told you so, but I understand how much you've worried about the coldness on your shoulder. And please take care about your neck. Try to keep it warm for the healthy blood circulation. I don't think it is forbidden by your doctor.
    Anyhow, it is a good news that you don't need surgery !

    Have a good day, Mel !
    wishing you a smooth recovery soon !

    @corinna

  37. Hello from Switzerland

    @All
    It is always a pleasure to read quickly trough all your comments!

    Weather in Zurich is excellent at the moment. Sunny, blue sky, but cold -4 until 8 degrees. And on the weekend warmer(around 10-13) and rainy. Hope Soelden is different!!!

    Regarding helmet, I found the Viking helmet more personal for sure. But the Red Bull helmet is ok too. My first thought went to Ovaltine helmet from Didier Cuche. They make now a good couple and with Bode a smart trio. LOL

    @Giffy
    I thought, oh Lord, now we have got a Gifford! Kidding, I thought it might be you.

    Wich Swiss cheese did you eat? With the Pumpernickel it is possibly a bit dry, but healthy! Ha, Ha.

    So I presume you could combine eating and watching the videos. It is worth to watch Steve Lee in action!

    @Mel
    Sorry to hear about your pain. My partner told me once, after having different therapies many years ago, he tried also that one with the cold and had succes.

    Never give up, listen to your body, try out different ways!

    I am sure, it will get better soon. But please avoid surgery.

    Good luck, Mel!!

    @Corinna
    Have a lot of fun in Soelden!!

    @Ekaterina
    Forget to say, did not know that Gotthard made a song for the Blue-eyed Samurai. Nice!

    In my opinion Clint Eastwood, is kind of dinosaur in the film business and makes excellent films, I like them.

    Yes, regarding speaking Asiatic languages in different ways, the funny thing is, if a boyfriend learns perfect Japanese from his girfriend. Japanese people would be to polite and would never tell him that he speaks like a girlie.

    Glad they give Aksel a great support to catch the "right" Janpanese. LOL.

    @All
    Enjoy the day/evening!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. @ Giffy Damn you!! LOL But I had a feeling... Gifford, sounding like a little spoiled lord from England. Haha

    ReplyDelete
  39. @dana
    Thanks to you, I had a beautiful afternoon, dana !!!
    btw, do you fill your candy box with the throat drops, dana ? ... ;-))) ... I'm just afraid your voice becomes husky after Aksel's run. ... haha.

    Here in Tokyo it looks the no news about the WC alpine ski reaches us. But I read the English paper every day and it helps me a bit.

    Have a nice afternoon & a beautiful evening, dana !

    @Nicoletta
    really ? Yes, they did it for the blue-eyed Samurai.

    And I think so, too. Clint Eastwood has a good sense of eyes on the reality.

    Then, yes. If a boy learnt the perfect Japanese from his girlfriend, he'll be able to have a much better life while he lives in Japan. I'm sure his girlfriend teaches him the best and the excellent male manner of speech. And vice versa.

    and again, as for the manner of speech, NHK is very reliable and " NHK Special " is the highest level of the culture program, so Aksel talked ( dub in Japanese, off course ! )in the very good male manner which is very nice, modest, and friendly. I really wish you and all will be able to watch MB in your languages as soon as possible. Because the contents is so great.

    Have a nice afternoon and a pleasant evening, Nicoletta !

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Ekaterina Haha!My throat and my voice will be just fine! Remember I sang in the school's choir! That helps me a lot LOL

    Here no news about the WC alpine skiing too, but we have Eurosport channel and we can watch live every race!
    We have mountains, snow, ski tracks but no professional skiers! Well, just a few but even I don't know them, though they are romanian! LOL They are not on a high level of performance as Aksel!
    I know just one female romanian skier bc of this story on the Olympics:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m5wgGCnpys

    Have a nice evening, or better I say a good night? Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  41. @dana
    Thanks for the link !
    I did't know that accident, the one leg ski !
    But Edith is great, she was not in a panic. I often think the athletes are mentally strong while they are fun people.
    Thank you, dana, for sharig with us !

    Yes, we also have the mountains ( 70% of the country ), and the snow ( in some area, nearly 4 meters high of the snow in winter ), and I hear we have the national team of the alpine ski for the both men & women. But we only know a little about the figure skatings.....just a moment, I remembered the article I read about the Japanese skiers. One male alpine skier who finished the 4th in the Torino Olympics ( slalom ) and one female who finished the 4th in Mogle ( I'm not sure the spelling )in the Vancouver's games had the wedding ceremony a few weeks ago. They got married 2 or 3 years ago, but too busy to have the wedding ceremony. But it is not the topic on the ski anyway. And as for the course for the alpine ski, I think we have, but not good ones. Japan hosted the winter Olympics twice in the past, but I wonder how they made the downhill course.

    It's so nice that you can watch all the races by the Eurosport channel. I think I'm going to stay at home on Sunday and check Aksel's blog and this Mel's blog so often and get the information from the comments.

    Wishing you a happy evening, dana, and I say good night. Hugs !

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Ekaterina You know you're always very welcome!

    I know you have very beautiful mountains (and not only mountains!!!)but I have to confess I don't know too much about the Japanese skiers or the other sportsmen! Sorry! But I'm ready to learn from you!:-))
    I admire very much Noriaki Kasai, he's a great ski jumper, I admire his tenacity and his longevity! I hope to see him this weekend in Germany!
    And I know Japan has great figure skaters!

    I'm sorry you can't watch Aksel's race Sunday! But I'm sure you'll find out the results here and on his blog!

    Wish you to have a happy weekend, Ekaterina! Good night! Hugs!

  43. @AM HaHa! It sounds like you are describing my husband perfectly! He is very spoiled and very English. He is also known as, the moustache! :-{

    @Dana So funny. I could name myself anything and you would know me.

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  44. I need some help translating the comment E left for me on ALS. I translated it with bing & google, but it only translated half of it! Here's the comment: Weißt, hab I ghört vom eim, der hat gsagt, dass er des gelese hätt. Find I guat dei Emsigkeit! (like your incredinble pragmatism) ;-). Die kloane Sockn (baby socks) hab i a scho bei mei Schwester in Auftrag gebn (ordered), die ko das ganz guat. Woas braacht so oan kloaner Balg noch so oalls? Wohin solln die gschickt werden?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi Mel

    I have a bad cold and couldn't sleep, therefore I have time to translate for you.

    @Mel
    You know, I did hear from somebody that he has read this. I like your business (love your incredible pragmatism). I did order the little baby socks to my sister, she is able to do it.
    What does such a child (balg = not nice word for baby) need furthermore? Whereto I have to send them?
    All the best Aksel, not only for the season. You have a tough character. You can manage everything. It is never to early, but it could be easy to late for such a girl in my opinion.

    Be careful Mel what you answer. I presume it is kind of new trap from that ugly anon. This time he took the name E. He obviouly wants to spread rumours and he want's start a kind of war with you.

    I saw a similar message about Julia an other day on Aksel's blog. He said Julia has cannceled all races because she get's a baby.

    I think he is not a native German speaker and the whole thing is kind of tactic.
    He want's do attack Aksel's blog as well as Akselized Fans.

    Rather strange and stupid he writes in German and addresses directly to you Mel???

    Ignore, or give an answer, I do really not know. Sometimes it is better for heaven's sake not to answer, just to ignore.

    You will know Mel, what to do.

    Back to bed. See you later.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Mel
    I made a mistake! I meant FOR THE PEACE and wrote for haven's sake. Sorry

    ReplyDelete
  47. @dana
    Thanks ! dana !

    and, I'm so honored that you mentioned the name, Kasai. yes, he has been the leading ski jumper in my country for years. Thank you, dana, for remembering him !

    Once the Japanese ski jumpers enjoyed the highlight, but to our regret, not now actually.
    We have some very good Schanze, though I've never visited them. But I visited Neue Olympiaschanze in GA/PA last summer. It is very very high ! and very very nice, so I wish someday our Jumper will record the longest flying distance there. ......

    Have a restful afternoon and a peaceful evening, dana ! because you are watching his race tomorrow !

    @Mel
    I agree with Nicoletta. Just ignore it and don't respond to " E ". When I saw " E " 's comment for you on ALS, I honestly felt so unpleasant, uncomfortable,and really angry. Although I couldn't understand it's all the meanings, it looked apparently ugly taste and poison-pen.

    So, Mel, please just think about your shoulder and Aksel's race on Sunday. Never involved with people like " E ".

    Have a good rest on Saturday, and a nice day on SUNDAY, Mel !

    @Nicoletta
    How is your cold ? Nicoletta ..... Please take care !

    I agree with you about " the trap ".

    Hope you recover on Sunday, Nicoletta !

  48. @Ekaterina

    It is always a pleasure to hear from you. I have kind of neverending cold. More then 6 weeks? I don't count anymore. It comes and goes. Very boring.

    Nevertheless, I watched the first race of the season on TV!

    I post here the FIS link, I wonder if you can see it?

    http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/604/610.html?sector=AL&raceid=62227

    and here with the click on LIVE? You could follow the race..... ??? No idea, if that works .... !! Maybe you looked it already up there.

    http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/604/1228.html?cal_suchsector=AL&event_id=28146

    Two German girls were 1. + 2. and 3rd is an Italian Girl. If you don't see it, I will type the names for you. Just say it please.

    Yes Ekaterina, I felt also very much concerned to see this E. comment was written in German and even addressed to Mel. I am glad you think the same, I was a bit worried because sometimes I am rather direct by saying my opinion.

    Wish you a pleasant evening & good night!

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Ekaterina Thank you, Ekaterina!
    I forgot to mention Daiki Ito, another great ski jumper!
    The Norwegian ski jumping team is very good too!
    I can't wait to see the Attack of the Vikings tomorrow! LOL

    Have a nice evening/good night!

    @Nicoletta Do you have this cold for more than 6 weeks??? God!! Have you taken some medicine? Take care of you!
    Wish you to get better soon! Have a pleasant evening!

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Nicoletta
    It's my pleasure, too ! Nicoletta !
    and, I worry about the never-ending cold. Are you coughing often ? If so, isn't it the whooping cough ? The Japanese translation of whooping cough is The 100-day cough. The condition is quite similar, so the doctor cannot easily see if it is the cold or the 100-day cough.The name of " 100-day cough " comes from the patient's condition which means the patient coughs for nearly 3 months. The 100-day cough is not cured by the medicine for the cold. So, in Japan, if one coughs for 5 or 6 weeks, the patient asks the doctor to test if it is so or not. Usually the doctors are too busy, so " comes and goes " condition is treated as just the cold. The test itself is an easy, I've heard. and if it is proved to be the whooping cough, the doctor prescribes the medicine just for it, and you will not suffer from the cough, on and off, from the next day.
    But if is is just the cold, you'd better take a rest more often, keep you warm, and take the meals full of Vitamin C. I really hope you become feeling well, Nicoletta !

    Then thanks for the links ! I tried the both links. the first one ended with 62227, it does not work, but the second one ended with 28146 goes well and I got the information of the result ! How nice it is ! Thank you vey much for this, Nicoletta !

    and please do not worry, Nicoletta, you are always nicely speaking, saying your opinion.

    Nicoletta, wishing you a very happy Sunday !

    @dana
    just surprising with a joy, dana ! Thank you so much for talking about Daiki Ito, too !!
    Now I'm seriously thinking about how to tell them that the Rumanian beauty thinks of them !!!
    yes, Austria, Finnland, Germany, Japan, Norway and Switzerland ( in alphabetical order ) are the countries of the ski jump. We Japanese usually become to be indifferent to the certain sports which did not have the good result in the Olympics two times in a row. But I'd like our flying squad to do a good job this season. Thanks again, dana ! It's always very nice of you !

    The time is coming, very excited ! btw, don't you think it is great that Mel put the count down clock here ? I'm sure Aksel checks it many times a day, though only the a clock ....

    Wishing you have a perfect Sunday, dana !
    I'm going to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Ekaterina You don't have to thank me, they really deserve everyone appreciations! They are great athletes and work so much for their good results!
    But you are always so kind and polite! You're a very nice person!
    If you can, tell them I admire them very much and I keep my fingers crossed for them on the new season! LOL

    Good night and sweet dreams, Ekaterina! Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hello Ekaterina & Dana

    Hope you are fine!
    I mean sweet dreams to Ekaterina, already bedtime!!

    Thanks for all good wishes. Yes, it is my weak point.

    @Ekaterina

    I like the expression the "whooping cough". Yes it goes in this direction. And somethimes I cannot breath through the nose and get sore throat & headache too. Horrible!

    I have different medicine, but I don't like to take them for a longer period. My stomach heates it. And I do not especially like doctors.

    Regarding FIS Link. Please try out to click "Live" during the race, perhaps it works.

    Wish you a nice evening/sweet dreams and a great race tomorrow.

    Have a nice sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  54. @Nicoletta Thanks for translating for me! It is kind of odd that he/she/it would address me in German. I'll probably just leave it or come up with something to say. It does seem like a trap now that I know what it all says. It's like he wants to know how I'll react.

    @Ekaterina I'm sure they are trying to get me to act like an imature little child. It seems like they want to start a war. I definitely have to focus on me getting better & sending some good luck to Aksel tomorrow.

    I had a blast at my friend Niki's Baby Shower. She got a lot of stuff. She was so excited opening her gifts. It was great to watch her. She's getting so big! Only 2 more months & we get to see what she's having!

    ReplyDelete
  55. @Ekaterina Hello Ekaterina!
    I'm so glad and proud to tell you that this morning, on the tv news, I saw a material about a fantastic concert of a Taiko-may I say player? drummer? and Philarmonic Orchestra from Sibiu-Romania!!! Amazing!!!

    I'm ready for the Attack of the Vikings! And I'm ready to scream out loud! LOL

    Wish you a nice and pleasant afternoon, Ekaterina!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well well well my ladiea! Now the time has come. I'm so excited and cand hardly wait to see the Vikings. Just a little less than an hour before the show goes on!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  57. @Nicoletta
    I really thank you for the link, Nicoletta ! although the race was cancelled.

    The site is nice, when I click " live ",as you kindly instructed me, the result of every racers' are shown real time ! yes, real time !

    btw, how are you ? I hope the weather , especially cool air of the winter will not be harmful for you. In Tokyo, finally we have become to feel our winter is coming, but still around 20C degrees daytime and around 15C at night and early in the morning.

    I'll take a bath after I talk to dana.

    @dana
    Thanks for the nice topic, dana ! The drummer maybe, but the player sounds better, I think.
    Was it the group performance or the solo performance by the huge Taiko ? We have the famous Taiko performance group named Kodo which is invited by Europe and the States ( NY )every year and more than half of their schedule is spent overseas. I've been their concerts several times. And also we have the famous solo Taiko player named Eitetsu Hayashi. he is invited to Europe and the States very often. Off course we have another players, but I don't know much about them.
    dana, what does " Shibiu " mean ? Is it the mane of the region ? I'm interested in it !
    and as for the pronunciaton of Taiko, " Tai " is the same as " ti " in tiger and " ko " is the same as " co " in Copernicus.

    @all
    How do you think we can cheer up corinna ? She must be disappointed because the race was cancelled. But she'll surely bring us the real time news !

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Ekaterina
    Sorry I'm late and probably you are already in bed!
    You are right, it's Eitetsu Hayashi!!!! I send you a link, maybe you can translate it by Google.

    http://www.metalhead.ro/Eitetsu_Hayashi_incepe_repetitiile_pentru_concertele_din_Romania-aid91708-l1

    Sibiu is the capital of the Sibiu district, a few years ago it was named European Capital of Culture! I don't know if you know that every year an European city is chosen by UNESCO to be European Capital of Culture!

    Though I don't know anything about your language I pronounced Taiko exactly as you say! LOL

    Wish you a very good and restful night and a nice and happy week!

    @Nicoletta How are you? do you feel better?
    I have a soar in my throat from screaming!
    Hope Corinna heard me! LOL

    Have a nice evening Nicoletta!

  59. Hello Ekaterina & Dana

    Cogh, cogh. I'm fine, thank you! I try to be a bit more quiet and take a bit a rest. It is time to learn, that things can wait ..... .

    Ekaterina, glad you had fun & success with the FIS link.

    While looking the 1st run, I was thinking of you, ladies.
    Aksel made a fantastic figure in the race. Very athletic!

    Cuche & Janka were ok so far.
    And finally, our "ghost" Kjetil was the best. It is a pitty, they did not do quickly the 2nd run at 13.00, because later it was getting much worse. Our TV speaker, Berhard Russi - kind of dinosaur of the Swiss ski world - said at ca. 13.00 for the racers it was ok.

    Ok, the organizers did not want to take to much risk. That's ok.

    Have a nice evening & a good start into the new week!
